Nope Scottish Rite has nothing to do with us althought we are in Amity with most of the grand lodge praciticing it (amity means we do recognize each other as masonic bodies)

@mstrwul1 Let's start with the word "Lucifer". It has nothing to do with Satan/The Devil. It is in fact a Latin word and is a biblical mistranslation. It is the name of a Babylonian king that "fell from grace". It was the "fell from grace" bit that was confused with the angel sent down from Heaven. Right. "A society of secrets". Nonsense. Almost nothing IS secret in Freemasonry and that which IS "secret", is easily discoverable on the internet. We don't care if anyone knows the contents of the secrets, as they are completely unimportant outside Freemasonry, it's the act of making a promise and KEEPING that promise, that is important...it is symbolic of integrity. "Light" in Freemasonry, is "knowledge", specifically of Freemasonry. Ever see a cartoon, where a character has an idea? How is it illustrated? By a LIGHT BULB over their head. And by the way, the word "Lucifer", is the Latin for "light bringer" as it is also an alternative name for the planet Venus...which heralds the rising of the sun. There are no such things as "demons". This isn't the middle ages, my friend! It is not "disguised with religion", as we are SECULAR...ie non-religious. That bible passage warns against taking oaths. We don't take oaths, we take obligations. An oath is TO a deity or to a King. An obligation is to onesself. And if you love bible passages, try this for size. Matthew 7, v 1-3

@@JourneyDude You can not take it as positive as there is some much deliberate Poverty in Scotland and Not One person I know would ever associate Free Masonry with Charity for the Poor. Most people I know associate FM with something else, below 33 you believe in Jesus,, above 33 you believe in Lucifer the bearer of Light.

@daveeagle4073 Where do you people get these ridiculous ideas? You've made a silly statement, so please now give us evidence. Be SPECIFIC and then present evidence. If you're so sure of what you say, you MUST be able to do this. Or are you going to be like all the others I have challenged in this vein...refuse to respond because you have been caught out telling lies? If you have to make up these silly stories, in an attempt to ascend to some sort of high status, then you must have nothing else of note in your life. I pity you.

@@JourneyDude That always confuses me. The question asks "how old is your granny"?, Referring to a man's Mother Lodge...so why isn't the question "how old is your mother"?

@@TheRealist2022 good question - In some traditions, "granny" could metaphorically signify wisdom and experience, qualities that a longstanding ML embodies. By extension, asking about "granny" may serve as a subtle nod to the L age for example :) its rarely used outside US

@@JourneyDude Rarely used outside USA. Well, I have heard it used several times here in the UK. But TBH, I don't have much time for that sort of thing. "Are you a travelling man"? "How old is your mother"? "Are you on the square"? Just say "are you a Mason?" I have found that usually, those phrases are often used by those who enjoy the little bit of mystery...the "I know something you don't know" types. Come on Brethren, let's move with the times. It's not the 19th century any more.

@@jimritchie4021 not really you know how many of us are catholic? including me by my family background? its actually opposite, catholic church will with all the love they preach excomunicate you from the church if you are mason :) but there has been finally talks to stop this historical nons in 21 century... i personally believe if we work together no matter the background.. world can be better place
