Thanks Harry - just the helpful video I needed to see before deciding whether to buy an angle grinder or not (which is a bit scary, tbh!). So many of the other videos are crazed heavy metal loving blokes from across the pond, which was not the calm sensible safety vibe I was going for, but you hit the right note. Thanks

Great job on that welding, I would say if you heat up the start area of that weld with a butane torch you will find the welding process will be easier as the aluminium will be warm and get that consistent weld throughout the whole piece. Also if you want to minimise soot try cranking the argon to 30 or so. Yes you will go through your argon but sometimes it gives you a cleaner weld.

Thank you very much Sir! I'll be making the same weld tomorrow for an improved support for my commercial grade compressor. Best wishes! nd I find it strange that there were no comments here. Your adjustments are a bit different (amps, volts) than here in Orlando, Florida, U.S.A. but I understood you. Thanks again.

Hi sorry for the slow reply. I would be looking at between 24-25 volts at around 9-10 mpm depending on your machine. This may want to be higher if your looking for spray transfer rather than dip.

It's always worth checking the equipment over before use. If you are not the only person using it, then you can't be sure of the condition the last person has left it in. In which case I would definitely give it the once over.
