It just goes to show not everyone is nice that rides a motorcycle... :-\ This did happen about 2 years ago but the threat was very recent. What was replaced was tyres, brake pads and rear rotor. I could have taken it back and I am sure they would have been all apologetic and fixed it, but i didn't want them to touch my bike again.

    I’ve only had the same indicator problem that was fixed by the dealer. Mine has been otherwise 100% reliable. There is a real quality control issue though as you hear of so many people whose bikes are plagued by niggles while others seem bulletproof (excuse the pun).

      Yeah they are a good bike for what they are designed for and I don’t regret buying it. Just lost faith in that ones reliability. The new Kawasaki Z650RS however is amazing but I do look at dirt roads with regret. Just mean I have to roll on the throttle go the long way round. It is soooo fast and smooth in comparison but would get stuck on that muddy dirt road. 😉

    I probably wouldn't buy another one but never say never.I do like new Himmy but like you do the wait & see strategy about reliability & what others say.If I got another one I would buy new Relays & a stainless steel bolt pack for engine casings & a guy in UK I sub too makes Rectifier Regulator cables to relocate it to under the fork brace.Not alot of money in those mods but then there's the heavy exhaust system replace that & on Euro 5 bike I'd put Fuel X on bike too.That's 2k & if buy a Shotgun or Super Meteor 12k +2k is getting close to Trident 🔱 660 money which doesn't need alot of mods really unless you want too.I spent 3k on my Interceptor another reason I went Trident 🔱. There's new Triumph 400x Scrambler out now too.With RE need 3yr warranty as can take 6months to fix🤣.If you juy Japanese big 4 or Triumph etc you usually have nothing changed under warranty during your 2yr warranty might be odd recall on newer bikes.Warranty claims are quicker & if get Japanese bikes in Australiasia plenty od Dealerships around. Worth the few extra grand in long run especially if keeping bike long term.

    I installed the DNA filter and cover. Tomorrow, I'll work on minimizing hot air from the engine getting into the air box by using some heat shield material I bought. What I've noticed so far is that the bike is louder, but the throttle response is better. Since I plan to install a slip-on exhaust, I will also install the Fuel X Lite.

    • @PubRunner
      @PubRunner 2 місяці тому

      I had that on initially band it sounded awful. There was no noticeable increase in power but the fuel consumption got noticeably worse by about 50 Ks. So for me it was a total negative. Also of your try type to take your Himalayan wading in rivers your lowering intake by about an inch. IMHO there is zero benifit and the intake deletes 100% hype in my experience. So I ended up putting yeh stock cover back on and the if fuel efficiency returned and it sounded so much better. Thanks for the suggestion tho.

      If you can find them ten Falcons are by far the best wearing and comfortable. I have some Argon Flux boots I use for work the look great after about 6 months but the brace lace eyelets are held on with plastic washers and they come off. But the dangerous part of those boots is that if it’s just a tad damp they are SUPER slippery. I haven’t tried them in the full on rain yet but in a puddle they aren’t to bad. I nearly dropped my bike a couple of times. So I can’t really recommend them either. It’s a shame they are real comfy and pass for normal work shoes. Well the boss hasn’t said he doesn’t like them.

Ie my sons MX5 has a loudish exhaust and around the streets it’s great but after about 2 mins on the open roads the novelty runs out real quick especially with the top down. Cut a 2 inch hole on the inside filter cover. And cut the bottom off the rubber .filter. easy .more air no cost. It works. Leave to idle for a few minutes job done .don't waste your money on expensive filters.

    I did what you suggested about bringing my bike to the dealer for a map upgrade. I checked the sticker on the ECU and it was changed from white to yellow and the last 4 digits changed from 3004 to 3001. As I understand, the new version of the Himalayan ECU software is 3003. Have you checked the sticker on your CPU? What are the last 4 digits on yours now?

      @@PubRunner Neither did I until today. I am going places and learning things about technologies I really had little interest in learning. All because I bought a bike that sucks all my attention and energy, just trying to keep it running enough to simply take it down to the store and back. The bike is stalling about 80 percent of the time that it gets anywhere near idle. At a light it will often stall 3 or 4 times. Beyond being embarrassing and dangerous, the constant starting is killing my battery. I think the RE shop upgraded the mapping because they said that they would make some changes with the computer to see if they could fix the stalling issue. That's why I am trying to identify this new number on my ECU. My bike seems to have more power on the highway, but it still constantly makes a popping sound and then stalls. I kind of wonder if the cam decompressor is intermittently malfunctioning and killing the engine at low rpms. Seems to me that years ago my dad told me that the Harley cam decompressor had that problem. A problem that would be difficult to diagnose for sure without just installing an aftermarket cam such as that made by TEC. So the bike is cleaned up and looking pretty, getting a lot of garage time until I can find a solution, which might be just to sell it at a discount and buy a V-Strom, if I can't get it running.

      @@PubRunner I have seen this article but it really does not contain any usable information. The Himmy is a 12v system and therefore has no voltages of 63 or 65 volts. So was it a typo, if so what system are they referring to? Was it supposed to be 6.5v or 0.65v? We are not given any clues that would identify the system. The TPS or Throttle Positioning System is mentioned on the second step and can be changed from 0.6 to 0.68 volts which I have done, but that only really affects cold starts and not stalling. If you were to drop the voltage to 0.5v as they claim, you would be making the bike fuel mixture leaner during cold starts which would make it even more difficult to start and not easier. In the end, the fuel and ignition processes that would affect stalling are mostly centered in the ECU mapping which is intellectual property of Royal Enfield. Upgrading to the FuelX type system is about the only way to get control back of that set of processes. Right now those processes are mandated and controlled by the Euro 5 government statute which is there to reduce the usage of carbon based vehicles by making them stall and run hot. But I digress.

      @@PubRunner Oh and one more thing, how many miles on your vehicle? Mine ran great for the first 3 to 4,000km. The stalling issue came on slowly and grew worse with time. This seems to be the case with most of the owners who have this problem. So to find the solution of these common problems with other owners may avoid you and your followers from having to suffer in the future. One comment I left on another channel was to make certain your front tire pressure is set to 27lbs. The tire is designed to absorb part of the impact along with the shocks. Eliminate this part of the system by inflating the tire to 35 or 40psi and you will be changing out your steering head bearings or worse, the head itself can crack and break off from the frame if the shocks bottom out with too high of a tire pressure. I learned this lesson the hard way by running 35 psi in the front tire. I ended up replacing the steering head bearings and seals at only 8,000km yet it was my fault for not looking at the sticker on the rear swing arm. Live, learn and share.

    If you want to keep using that stove/pot combination, I would suggest you get a coffee can and make a wind screen to force the heat up the sides of the pot and add a flap to keep the heat off the handle. Your boil times will be way faster and/or you can run it at a more leisurely burn in the same time. I've had that coffee. Holy shit is it good! Would that be a fair dinkum spot of jav?
