I wouldn’t be in the water when they’re hunting seals.... with a black wetsuit it’s looking for trouble. Still they are so smart that there has not been a single fatal orca attack on a human. Ever. That’s an unbelievable stat.

I live in this region. Never in my life have I read about an accident or injury to humans caused by orcas. Never. Maybe there's been something, but it woulda been some weird, quirky isolated incident. Those surfers KNOW orcas as good as any marine biologists. They coexist and share the same waters on a daily basis for about the last 40 years that surfing has been popular in Tofino.

Adults teaching their offspring to Hunt. I would not stand near the shoreline if I were you! Those surfers are crazy! You could easily become a play toy for them if they decide to do that.

The killer whales have never killed someone but in captivity they have there like dolphins harmless they kill sharks and swim in pods like dolphins do

How in the hell could a thousand people dislike this footage. People are stupid, plain and simple. I personally thank you for capturing this awesome footage. I am so fascinated by orcas and this was so cool to see. Seems like the seals were a little confused as to why the orcas weren't after them. Because these orcas were resident orcas that feed on fish and not the transient orcas who feed on marine mammals. The surfers should have stayed out there and watched the killer whales go by.

Now, I know orcas are typically curious and friendly toward people, but if I was a surfer, the LAST thing I would want to do is be around the water when orcas are hunting seals. Animals, like people, make mistakes and during the heat of the hunt, an orca might mistake a surfer on a board as a seal. Still, it would be an awesome thing to watch from a boat or from the shore.

For all you CLUELESS arm chair marine biologists. The orca family/pod's strategy is to flush a few individual seals out into open water, where they are surrounded, killed, and fed on. Once the orca's have their fill, they move on to other adventures, away from shore. The vast majority of the seals have nothing to worry about, and the surfers were of no consequence to either the seals nor the orca's.

Oceans are dying . Very little food left , they are trying to survive, but realize humans are the apex predators ? Smart enough not to kill humans ? Smarter than some humans . just noticed the seals are in a jam - they are afraid of humans on the beach

Orcas are so used to see them,same as these surfers, they see orcas often. Although playing loudly around when someone is dining is still impolite. ^^

I love Orcas so much. My son got to see some once from a boat here in WA. He said “mommy it was so amazing but I was scared” lol

You know what's cool about the biggest brain in marine mammals is how they can tell humans are not what they eat... Too bad them brainless great whites can't tell the difference dumb ass sharks!

Seeing a fin always freaks me out when I'm in the water but I think I would feel safe knowing that orcas are around. Definitely no sharks

there has never been a documented attack on humans by Orcas in the wild...only SeaWorld can claim that...

What was that creepy laugh whenever the orcas were becoming more active and when it looked like they were all over a seal? And laughs watching surfers close to the Orcas.... hoping they'd get bit?

Why would one surf in a hunting ground is my question? Kind of dumb if you ask me. Seals are food for both orca and sharks. Why chance it being on the menu? Even if a shark may mistake you for a seal...the fact is the only critically injured animal left after a mistaken attack will be human. 😒

Surfers are rarely not idiots. Swimming with an apex predators prey is just asking for an accident
