Wow! You guys were playing some heavy games at BGG Spring! Nucleum? Food Chain Magnate? Ezra and Nehemiah? Trickerion? 🤯 I also recently got to try The White Castle and Ezra and Nehemiah for the first time and I really liked them both although I liked The White Castle better due to its more streamlined ruleset and super compact design! (Both spatially and "durationally"!) Great recap, guys! ☺
Tons of light games in between! Our brains were still mush at the end of everyday. Thanks for watching!
@@dadsanddice Oh, good! I’m glad you made time for some lighter games, too! But I believe it-all that gaming is taxing on the brain! 🧠
Glad you enjoyed A Feast For Odin. It is my favorite game at the moment. You should get the Norwegians expansion as most think it greatly enhances the game even more. I have all of the expansions to the game, even the Christmas promo tiles that are currently extremely hard to get.
Devin has the Norwegians with his copy, along with the other promos as well. If I ever move or don't have access to his easily I will have to get them!
You're supposed to put the game and expansions IN the deluxe box.
Paul, I love so much that you love Le Havre. It's such a great game! Joe is never going to say no to playing that one!
🤩🤩 It's just so stinking good, I'll obviously play it whenever
How did I miss this 6days!!!! I’m slacking
Lol glad you got caught up!
@@dadsanddice I blame all this travel - it’s about to be soooo much more
Very cool
Arzium is the world where it all takes place. So the people you can meet in Roam, you could possible also meet or play in the other Arzium games (Above and Below, NoN, NaF, Sleeping Gods, Creature Caravan etc). 9 could very well be the number game, cause he made quite a lot. There was Dingo something, but also Artifacts Inc (RVM8), 5 minutes Empire Legends Lost Sands (RVM 7) (and than there are also the other two '5 minute empire games'). Probably also Empires of the Void I and City of Iron I?
I know City of Iron was prior to this one, it's crazy how many games he had published! Is Sleeping Gods considered in the Arzium Universe?
Ooops, my fault... I had to look it up, and found the answer on the Gamefound page of Creature Caravan. Sleeping Gods is NOT an Arzium game😮😂
It's all good! Too many games to keep track
Oak
This one looks awesome
We love A Gentle Rain! My wife brings it to work to play on break. I play it while my wife is making dinner. One minor gripe tho, some of the flowers on the tiles don't line up. It'd be nice to get a reprint of the reprint. Oh well, not necessary.
I do the same with work! I have also noted the inconsistency with the prints
You will definitely enjoy Viticulture more with Tuscany. Never heard of Euphoria. I'm gonna check it out. Hope it has a solo 🤞
Let's hope so! I think it does have a solo
Turns out my microphone wasn't on! Sorry about the sound, It was recording through my computer mic.
This looks insanely promising, glad i backed.
We had a good time with it!
Great video guys! Y’all are so cool. Subscribed!
Thanks so much for the support!
One of my best games last year! Thanks
It was such a surprise game for us!
Just want to point out that I love your playthroughs and your evening time spent on these interesting board games. I was looking through your history of videos and came up with some games that you both have not played but would love to see your opinions and perhaps a playthrough. Here is the list in no particular order: -Guild of Merchant Explorers -Long Shot -Point City -1st and Goal -Le Havre -Fields of Arle -Life of the Amazonia -Creature Comforts -Consumption: Food and Choices Hope to see you in the next video and happy gaming.
Thanks for the support! We just love playing games. Although we have played some of those games on the list, unfortunately none live in our collection. Le Harve and Fields of Arle are two of our newest favorites! Consumption looks like a very interesting game!
I bet you guys love how we nick pick every move and what was wrong or should imof done i bet thats annoying....sorry
Lol 😅 it's all good we do appreciate everyone watching so closely
Another tip I can give for this matchup, because Shadow Thief is immune from attack damage when in shadows, Artificers best ability to go for is actually schematics, which Devin was really close to on the second turn! Because you are able to heal max health + 10 in this game, it would have helped build Artificers engine tremendously. Huge props to you guys though, these two heroes are some of the most challenging in the sets to play. Much love your way, hope to see more content!
🔥🔥
Thank you for posting content. Helpful corrections for viewers: 1. If you are under Shadows, you DO NOT roll defense. 2. Damage from Nanites exploded during an Attack, like the large straight acts as an Attack modifier to the original attack and is not a separate source of damage, so it would not penetrate Shadows. I believe Paul forgot to actually take the 7 damage from a Eureaka in like the second or third round.
Thanks!
Where can I get those trays for myself!? I thought I had all the upgrades but that’s next level!
Should be linked in the description above!
@@dadsanddice🤦♂️
@austinporter392 all good! They are amazing
I am glad I backed this game. I can't wait to get my hands on it and play already!
Enjoy!
Good video, just thought I would throw a couple things out there to help next time with Artificer. I think conductivity gives you Synth instead of CP, plus Artificer starts with 3 Synth. I think that would have helped a lot. Nanites are rolled for each round, a 6 removes them. Using Nanobot during Large Straight acts like an attack modifier, so it is stopped by Shadows. Perhaps next time start out going for more Synth, like Schematics. Get Shock bot and Heal bot advanced quickly. Using Heal Bot every round will help prevent some of that damage. Artificer should be able to give Shadow Thief a good game, so I would hate for those watching this to feel Artificer is under powered. Again great video, I enjoyed watching it!
Great tips! You are absolutely right about Artificer we just haven't figured out how to pilot him correctly. He is definitely one that can yield a ton of power
the server discord invite is invalid :(
Oh no! This one should work discord.com/invite/freehawks
Great game DnD! It's was strange Devin forgot ST was in shadows. I wish you guys make a live stream of 3v3 heroes. Nice hits uncle Paul. More power and more videos DnD!
Thanks Ken!
Hi, thank you for the playing session :) It seems you have the reprint version with the new board. Can you tell where it is available please ?
Thanks for watching! We got this one from the Legacy of Yu Kickstarter campaign. It would be available at garphill.com though!
We had a couple of rule errors and misplays, here at the timestamps for those 15:06- for the action bonus you must remove ALL CUBES from ALL THREE actions. This mistake continues for the rest of the game 51:50 Paul forgets to place an action cube 1:09:34 Devin does not gain his experience, this would have ended the game, instead it goes one extra turn. The game result is not effected by this.
Scary 😅
☠️
Why do you have 3 copies of Zapotec?
Game is GOATED! It was the free game for BggSpring a couple years ago and both of us got a copy and then one is another friends copy
Looks and sounds very similar to Coup. That could be a good thing if it improves the mechanics of Coup. What are your thoughts on this?
Very similar mechanics to coup. I like that this one puts your on a timer to make those decisions quicker. It also has another win option of lowering the defense of the other Kingdoms. The destiny cards make it more unpredictable as well.
I feel like the appeal of coup is its fast paced gameplay while maintaining a social deduction & bluffing element. You can get through several games in the span of one Fall of Kingdoms game. It feels like a bogged down Coup to me. I think I’d go with maybe getting an expansion to coup before getting this.
Fair
coup visually looks boring and old even though it may have similar gameplay experience, I much prefer a fantasy take on it.
There are some lovely gems in your haul. Just played GOA and Santiago on the weekend and now I’m on the hunt for them.
Heck yeah, what's Goa like?
@@dadsanddice It’s an engine builder at heart with some bidding at the beginning for resource tile selection and turnorder placement. We played it at 4 players. I find it quite elegant.
Awesome! Looking forward to trying it out
This game has beautiful artistry and easy to learn light weight mechanics at first introduction. I'm enjoying exploring more card-based games and what they have to offer. I hope you boys do a playthrough in time. I'm interested to see what the game flow of this one is like. Cheers!
Very easy game to learn and very intuitive! Unfortunately we will not be putting out a playthrough of it though
Not sure what you mean, it's all AI art.
@@falconNLIs It? Still very impressive and beautiful artwork. Someone did program the AI, so it's still human innovation. Don't know much about the art world, just appreciate beauty where I see it. I never considered that AI could be a new style and approach to art, but yes, of course it could. You gave me something interesting to think about. Thank you.
My top 5 varies from year to year. My "classic" top 5 includes Marvel Champions, Gloomhaven (specifically JotL), Spirit Island, Mage Knight and Cascadia. This year's top 5, however, is slightly different, with Ark Nova and Oathsworn that sky-rocketed to the top. Halls of Hegra was one of this year's highlight as well.
Love your classic list! Halls of Hegra has piqued my interest
Your last video has me searching for some animal themed games now. This strikes me as a beautiful game. It doesn't appear to have the most interesting replay ability, but it offers something for what it is, and I appreciate thematic approaches in Euro games. This is actually a good game to pull off the shelf if you feel like something light weight and fun. When I began Gaming a year ago, I went straight to Lacerda games. Straight into the deep end before I learnt to swim. I've learnt that midweight and light weight games are important too. There are days when you don't feel like baking your brain like a potato. Light weight mechanics and strategy is the way to go on these days. If this game had a solo mode I would buy it. The search continues. I really enjoyed watching this playthrough boys. You both showcased it well. Cheers!
This was a fun one! It fits that space that you are talking about perfectly!
Holy Hell! My brain is a fried egg after round 2. Can't believe you pulled this off Devin. Well done mate. This was a brain burner, but I enjoyed the playthrough. Cheers!
Thanks for watching! The game really shines at 3+ but e solo is good
I thought forsure Ark Nova was going to be #1! It's just so animal themed hahah. #1 pick was awesome though. haven't played that one yet
Very close!
Agricola has survived every cull. It is that good. I never even considered getting rid of it. Favorite. Game. Ever. Great list, BTW. All awesome picks, except that one for kids.
Thanks for watching!
Hell to the yes for Skullport. Love that addition!
Sooo good
I'm totally okay with the food > people answer
Lol it is pretty great
Have either of you played Ark Nova with Marine Worlds? I think that solves some of the hunting issues for certain card types. Haven't tried Meadow yet but would like to. We house rule an opening draft in Wingspan and use a 6 card 'tray'. Mitigates a ton of the luck! Isle of Cats? Everdell?
We have not, mainly because Paul would rather play Terraforming Mars lol. I'll try to convince him. Isle of Cats was number 6 for Paul and neither of us have played Everdell before!
Terraforming Mars is my #9 overall game and Ark Nova is my #1. I own Everdell. Y'all just have to come play!
@cwb95k gonna have to get a day for it! I talked to Harrison the other day about setting a game day up, maybe we can get that going!
Not necessarily my top 5 but other good animal themed games. Wild:Serengeti Creature Comforts/Maple Valley Honey Buzz Everdell Isle of Cats Apiary Oh and the outtake was great.
Isle of Cats was close to making it on Paul's list. Creature Comforts is great, honestly that one didn't cross our minds. Honey Buzz is a great theme but just doesn't do it for us. Haven't tried Wild, Everdell, or Apiary
The outtake was so fun!
Some good games named there boys. All worthy of attention. There are a few on the wish list. Ark Nova and Cascadia. I think the only animal themed game I own is Apiary. Been gaming less than a year so the collection is small. Thanks for a fun watch boys.
Apiary has definitely peeked my interest. What are your thoughts?
@@dadsanddice Apiary is a wonderful worker placement, tile and set collection. This game has it all. Dice, tiles and cards. Lots of different player boards for variability and replay ability. The flow and mechanics of the game is great. Mid to heavy weight depending on player count. The Solo mode is really streamline, but I think this would be best played at 3 players. Definitely recommend this one to any Euro gamer. Apiary is a winner!
its nice that you can mitigate the luck by adding more than you need, and that you dont lose the cards that get taken out is also relieving
Agreed
what was the answer?
Viticulture was one that would have worked as well as Coffee Traders! My mind went blank
Mechanical beast has multiple, Sleeping gods has one, but it is the stress 😅❤
I was thinking risk soldiers?
@prestonlintzenich1923 most definitely would work!
Oh man, why'd you mention Lost Cities? You know that's a sore subject for me! But I'm glad you mentioned Memoir '44 👍 My wife may wipe the floor with me when we play Lost Cities, but M44 is where I reign!!!
Lol glad I'm not the only one getting beat down
You guys discussed a lot of my faves! I absolutely love Fields of Arle solo. It plays the exact same as 2 player except no special action/first player marker. And you just use one player color. I realize BYOS isn't everybody's jam, but I enjoy it.
That's awesome to hear that it's similar to a 2 player game. I hope I can pick this one up at some point. What other games did you enjoy?
@@dadsanddice Great Western Trail, Gugong, Architects, Wingspan, Cartographers, Lost Cities, Reef, Aquatica, and New York Zoo. I just acquired The White Castle and I'm really looking forward to that!
Those were all terrific! Such great games I'm glad you enjoyed the discussion
Always spend the 2 Honor when you have it!!
You're right! I honestly thought it was 3 you needed
