Which DeWalt Cordless Sawzall will Work BEST for the Job?
From my experience, brushed tools last longer, simply because when they need repairing, you just replace the two brushes and tool is good to go again. When brushless tools wear out, the whole circuit board and magnets need replacing and it's cheaper to just buy a new brushless tool. Brushed tools have a few advantages too. Maybe old school is sometimes better.
Good points. Most people will not replace a brush and will replace the whole tool, which means they are replacing the tool more often than a brushless one.
@TwistedToolbox Thanks for reply. Informative. Yes I see brush changing as simple maintenance, like servicing a car. Brushed tools are underrated imo.

Love the video, BUT those saws are not even in the same league, the dewalt NEVER stood a chance. Right now that Dewalt is $90 and the Milwaukee is $300
Did you pay attention to the video. We said we aren't comparing apples to apples. These are the two saws I have to test to see which works best to fit in my SXS toolbox to cut down trees on the trail.
@@TwistedToolbox You are right, I was just putting in perspective for people the huge gap in price and quality and grade
Pretty sure my UK batteries say 18v on them
@@jeffleake1960 DEWALT did make an older battery that was 18v. All the current batteries in the US are labeled “20 volt” even though you can measure close to 18 volts on them.
Just Like He Says!!! A Pretty Decent Multimeter. Gets The Job Done.
I have it and love it. Eating sandwiches gets old real quick, great video man!
I feel the same way. It gets real hard to swallow a sandwich after day 40.
minutes on a 5ah battery?
Scroll to 30 seconds of the video. It's on screen.
I still don’t get how they do an extra AH without adding weight. I mean the 4ah is even slightly larger if you compare them
The 5ah battery has 10 cells and so its possible to replace cells in a bad battery using better cells to make it a 6ah battery. The battery I like is the 4ah compact because I can fit a hammer drill, impact driver, and multi tool in my bag at once.
@@FewerOptions-mx7qt the 5AH are my go to batteries since the size & weight are minimal compared to the 4AH, plus they come in more kits.
@TwistedToolbox the 4ah compacts are same size as 3ah batteries. The regular 4ah are same size as 5ah. I have a lot of batteries from 2ah to 6ah. The 4ah compacts cost more because they use 21700 cells instead of 18650
@@FewerOptions-mx7qt I see, thanks for the breakdown on the cells.
Can this meter measure and hold starting amps?
Yes, I use it to read the starting amps (inrush) from an A/C compressor. You can set it to max, and it will hold the maximum number on the screen.
is hog ring the same as friction?
Yes the hog ring applies friction to the socket to keep it on the tool.
@@TwistedToolbox Good to know. i just bought the hog ring :) Cheers
I bought one. But, it cannot drill a concrete wall. I'm really disappointed.
With a good quality masonry drill bit, I have not had an issue drilling through concrete.
You didn’t say which was best!!!!!
Which ever one fits your needs best. They are both great when used in different circumstances.
@@MobileRVTechServices That’s the thing. There are so many duds out there and I need one that’s reliable. I had a Poulan/Craftsman that worked well for a week or so. I stored it for a couple of years and now it won’t start. The spark plug was burned, but even after replacing it, it’s no better. I’m looking at comments on Amazon and saws that are supposed to be good have fifteen percent failure rates. I’m no in a position where I can afford being stuck with another dud.
@@TonyHarper-j7f It sounds like a safe way to go about it would be to purchase the saw locally from a business that stands behind their product. Then if something happens they can take care of the warranty and repairs.
@@TwistedToolbox Thanks. I just like to do things right the first time. I bought a Poulan and it was fine the first season. Some time later, I take it out again to find it’s a boat anchor. A year before that, I bought a cheap electric and burned up the motor trying to cut a limb it couldn’t handle. Both times, it was too late and out of warranty.
@@TonyHarper-j7f sounds like you have had bad luck.

@@TwistedToolbox ok….thanks…
Can you use a 7 inch wheel (with the 7/8 arbor) on a 4.5" with a 5/8th arbor. I can only think that the lower RPM on a 7inch may cause the disk to snap or break under the higher rpm (10,500rpm) of a 4.5" grinder? If the 7/8 disk fits then would a 7inch dust shroud be acceptable for safety purposes while gaining the vacuum feature also??
A 4.5" grinder will not safely fit a 7" wheel since you would need to remove the guard, plus the RPM difference will likely not be correct.
@@TwistedToolbox guard replaced with 7inch adaptable dust shroud/guard)) and a variable speed at 3000 to address 7" blade safe operation requirements??? I take you have tried these options and it was a no go"???
@@BlossomPainting I've tried a 6" wheel before and it was too close to my hand without a guard on. If they make a guard for the 7" wheel and they are made for the speed, then it should work.
@@MobileRVTechServices Maybe a D or J side grip attached and heavy pants - I will start at lowest RPM (3000) and see how it goes.
Too much talking can you show how fast it cuts and how long the battery last.
This video is to explain the differences. The saws are shown cutting throughout the video. There are separate videos on each saw: ua-cam.com/video/2jmbJKkZJlE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/RdmAEZGNmS4/v-deo.html
My cL 390 always reads 1.27 or say amps when I’m clamping is the meter bad I know it’s pulling way more then that I put the meter on 40amps and then tried 400 amp setting and it’s the same for DC voltage
It sounds like you have a bad meter if it is not reading correctly.
Calling every Reciprocating saw a Sawzall is like calling all cars Ford. Start a trend in the US, call it by its functional name…A Recip saw.
I agree, the 5AH is where it is at for 90% of users out there. 😊😎🇺🇸👍

This is a great video! Thanks a lot. 2 years old but still great! I heard that the DeWalt Clutch is not working properly, especially on the lowest settings like gear 1 and clutch 1. For example, you're working with cabinet doors and you're just driving some small screws. Instead of stopping when it faces a resistance it just goes all the way down. No matter if it's set to the most sensitive settings. Have you faced something similar?
I don't use the clutch feature in daily life. I use the impact driver for screws. Sorry, I don't have any tips on using it for small screws. If you are doing jobs like small cabinet screws, I will go with a smaller drill with less power so you can dial it in better. This heavy-duty hammer drill is best for drilling.
How much is the cost of that kit,am in Nairobi Kenya, how can I get it
The link to the tool kit is in the video's description. If Amazon delivers in your location, you can purchase it through the link.
I have really loved your expoxy
I had one of those 20 volt dewalt for 4 years it's a good little saw, I put on a 16-inch Oregon bar & a 16 inch Oregon chain, the stock 12 inch bar and chain is kind of useless. I Actually talked to a DeWalt & Milwaukee authorized factory technician, he said the saw was designed to leak as it doesn't have a pump for bar oil like a gas-powered saw, your best thing to do is empty the bar oil out when you're done using the saw.
Thanks for the feedback.
Great review thanks!
@@jjones7837 you’re welcome
Next greenfield
From my understanding, the 5/8" arbor refers to the spindle. You can actually measure it with a ruler, from outside thread to outside thread. The backing flare nut step diameter, used to fit inside a grinding wheel, is the 7/8" . So when shopping for grinding wheels you go by the size of the disc, and the diameter of the flare nut step (not the arbor size).
No, the ARBOR or arbor hole is the larger step up diameter to hold cutting and grinding wheels which fit around the 5/8" SPINDLE that is used for threaded attachments.
I own the Dewalt and used the Milwaukee recently. My favorite battery saw is the Black and Decker. But it's the chain that does the cutting the rest is personal preference! I subscribed to your channel. Great content!

Good video, Sir. Thank you
You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it.
We use one of these to do trail maintenance, which is usually only 1 or 2 trees at a time. Works perfect for that. Still need the gas saw for the biggest trees, but this thing has no trouble cutting the full depth of the blade and is way more convenient. The 12ah batteries have been an issue though, been through a few of them in two saws.
Another fantastic video!!
Impressive amount of detail in that video.
I'm glad you found it useful.
So I buy one..now waht? do I need special sockets or what to use with it? I need the "so you know nothing about the Impact world" teach me from A-Z

This will not keep rodents out. They will eat through this. Where you have large openings put stainless steel scrub pads in the opening and then put the foam in. When rodents chew on this it will cut their mouths and they will stop and go elsewhere. Had a professional exterminator tell me to do this.
i use a similar product from Home Depot. A Pest Guy I know uses it in conjunction with Coarse Copper or Brass Wool to block off Points of Entry. Don't use Steel Wool. Inject the foam into the Wool and critters will think twice when they start to gnaw on it!
i run milwaulkee tools, love them, the saw is plenty powerful for home cutting, and ive done field work with it and it performed with the gas saws no preblem, invest in the 12.0 batterys and you will love this saw.....
It is a great saw.

Sounds like you had tool. Mine is still going strong without issues after 4 years.
@@TwistedToolbox nice, I’ve got other Dewalt tools that have been great, batteries that came my drill also died. Feels like a bad batch. I’m going to see where I can get with the 3 yr warranty. Thanks friend. W
@@ItsWesSmithYo I would definitely be following up with the warranty too if my tool broke that soon.
@@TwistedToolbox yeah they have a 3 year, so we’ll see how it goes, good info for anyone that might be in a similar spot.
FYI, warranty was a fail, basically said parts aren’t available, can’t be fixed, no replacement, so that’s a wrap. That’s a drill, a weed whacker, and a big battery. That’s about $20/month for the time they lasted, not bad I guess. I will say they worked like a charm while they were alive.
I have a compact XR and unfortunately it stopped working after less than a month and I rarely used it, it seems to be a problem with the on and off switch.
If you bought it brand new and not off the second hand market, it should be under warranty to get it replaced.
The compact version vibrates terribly. But it is half the weight of the full size version and still has 1 1/8” stroke length which makes a big difference in cutting.
