To say that the prophets' reference to Israel and Sodom and Gomorrah's destruction means a cessation of existence is to contradict Jesus' clear meaning stated in Scriptures such as Rev. 14: 9-11; 20: 10-14, where it says there will be TORMENT and NO REST in that place. Both destruction and death, in biblical terms, does not mean a cessation of existence. Rather, it refers to a state of being; as a person having a lifestyle of perpetual chaos and destruction.

I love this and I can relate it to the verses in Romans and other epistles that mention those who will be “justified”. I was talking to someone who was as equating justification and salvation and I didn’t know how to respond but I believe it could have something to do with those who knew and trusted Jesus. That doesn’t mean that they are the only ones who are saved, far from it

That's not what the scriptures say. "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear God who can destroy both soul and body in hell". To be destroyed makes more sense and is more compassionate than making someone suffer forever for sins committed in a brief, split-second life.

Our present day views on HELL comes from Dante's Inferno. The church used fear to keep people in line and make money. Keep a person in constant fear of losing their soul in hell fire and people will practically do whatever they are told so they don't wind up there. How do you equate the "2nd death" to being kept alive for all eternity to suffer for a few years of sin. That doesn't sound like the long suffering, loving, forgiving God I worship and read about in the Bible.

I think what Kieth Giles is portraying is nothing short of Heresy. Yes Jesus Christ through His own mouth taught the doctrine of Eternal Torment and condemnation. But Jesus’ teachings are very very clear and without mistake, in Matt. 25:46. ““Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭46‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Again In the Gospel of Mark 9:48 Jesus says “where “ ‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭9‬:‭48‬ ‭NIV‬‬ So what in the world are you talking about? Even on earth we have this kind of system of Justice , where you crime fits the tenure of your imprisonment, the crime for stealing, or molestation or even for that matter you tarnish someone’s character which is a crime of Character assassination does not carry the judicial punishment of life long imprisonment, but treason against a king or even the killing of a president or prime minister does carry the penalty of life imprisonment.
