Hector out respect and love for lenore, decides to leave what she considers a cage unlocked, free from his grasp if she ever chooses to Lenore despite how she feels for hector, knows that she would only be miserable trapped within this castle which was once her home. Her legions and power all gone and so believes that she now no longer of worth. Her misery would only further worry hector and if she pretended then she would only delay the inevitable. Even if lenore loved hector enough to struggle through her new situation with him, she’d be setting herself up for failure, hector could never live as long as her and she could never bring herself to live the way she does. Two sides of a coin trying to meet one another, oh how they perfectly complement each other.
