Been watching videos like these to help further improve my own Spanish-American war impression. Great stuff!
We also do reenactments like this here in the Philippines.
In the Philippines, the Spanish wore their red-and-yellow cockades on the left side of their straw hats. The Philippine Republican Army copied that and wore their blue-white-and-red cockades on the left side as well. I would request the reenactors on the Spanish side to check and verify that it is correctly worn on the left side and not on the right side as they do. The dark-blue-and-white cotton fabric of the Spanish uniform is called "rayadillo" (for "thin stripes"). It is a combination of the dark-blue used by the Guardia Civil of that era and white to make it cooler in the tropics. The soldiers with green collars and cuffs are "cazadores" (from French "chasseurs") who were better trained units that used light infantry skirmishing and long distance shooting tactics. The standard Spanish method of shooting was volley firing as handed down from the Napoleonic Wars. The Spanish manner of cooling off was to keep the top button of the outer coat buttoned and then to unbutton the rest so that the tucked-in white cotton shirt underneath could breathe and dry off any sweat.
A question, How the katipudan show who is on command, i mean not saying the katipudan or red ribbon in their arm. By chevrons ( and if its that where and colour please) colors or other badge. Before the U.S came, when Tagalo start their freedom Hope you give an answer Thank you
The Sons of Spanish American War Veterans is always looking for member, be it someone who is related to a Spanish American war veteran, or one who is interested in the history!
This is my favorite history all time
What are the hats that the Spanish army wore at the time?
Your average straw Panama hat and pith helmets
1898 - 1899 🇺🇸 🇪🇸
2:23 British colonialis hat?
pith helmet, used by many colonial powers (including Spain) but mostly known for the brits in Africa
But in the wars in Africa the spanish army wears a hat that i remember
The pith helmet has its origins in the Philippines and spain
The battle of Taylor Ham vs Pork Roll!

Hey! Here’s a little something for fun: ua-cam.com/video/YfVjB6c5CxQ/v-deo.html
Now you can see why there's no mention of this battle by your Masters. a compamy of invalid's held off the greatest navy of the time. they were rolling out in their wheel chairs and crutches to keep the flag flying high. where are they now when i need patriots.🏹🇺🇲
My 4th great-grandfather Captain Nathan Stoddard lost his head to a British cannonball on November 15, 1777. Thanks to all who preserve Fort Mifflin! www.findagrave.com/memorial/164964503/nathan-stoddard
My grandfather found a cannon ball from the bombardment at fort Mifflin. He found the cannon ball on the banks of the Delaware. I would really like to have the cannon ball looked at. The ball has a hole in the top of it and also is very heavy. Serious Inquiry’s only message me back for contact information

We're shooting people with the Bible
A heroic defence of the Chew House. Unfortunately for the Americans, they devoted too much of their attack to this isolated garrison. However, although ultimately unsuccessful at Germantown, the Revolutionary cause won much Kudos in France and abroad for taking the fight to the Brits after their defeat at Brandywine. Also, recent research on 'Wayne's Affair' - the so-called 'Paoli Massacre' - reveals that the Americans were not in their beds but had been alerted and formed up, ready to pull out when the attack came in. The British troops had been ordered to either take the flints from their muskets or simply leave them unloaded so as not to give away their positions. It takes a lot of guts to take on someone with a loaded musket when all you have is a bayonet so the Brits must have been really wound up to charge forward at Paoli - something that would be hard to wind down quickly once they got face to face with the Americans. The darkness of the night actually favoured the Brits in this situation because when the Americans fired, the flash of their muskets gave away their positions so the Brits knew where they were to charge them. Not so with the Americans. With no firing from the Brits, they could not see them until they were right in their faces with the bayonet.
Damn redcoats
