    3 vallées is my favourite: Val-Thorens (highest pistes in Europe), Courchevel (more expensive resort with Megève), and Meribel. You can ski all other those places in one day , but you have to hurry to come back to your station before lifts close.

    4 Valles aka Vebier is not endless terrain. I covered it multiple times over in just 2 days. Also very icy. I'd take a smaller N Amer hill with good snow over these icy Euro mega resorts.

    As a Californian, I can confirm these clips are from Utah and that you should definitely not go to California. There is never a good day of pow and it is way too busy. (The busy part is true, we need people to just go somewhere else)

    I have also read that portes du soleil has 650km + skiable terrain. Dolomiti may be biggest in terms of 12 resorts connecting together but some connections require buses or trains to connect, similar to chamonix 8 resorts. Chamonix has worlds longest run via lift access. 9000 ft vertical.

  • @tonyhowes669
    @tonyhowes669 2 дні тому

    So... why disregard portes du soleil? Is it because it straddles two countries? It cant be because of all the liasons between areas, because if that were the case, you could not consider whistler blackomb as one place either... or quatre valleis, which is actually verbier, nendaz, la tzoumaz, and veysonnaz... btw i can get from one end of quatre valley to the other in one day and cannot at portes du soleil, cause it is 2x bigger. 203 lifts and 600km of pisted terrain. Only trois vallees is bigger... and that really depends on how it is measured

      @tonyhowes669 День тому

      @ashtonduda9971 haha. Didnt used to be. And the only real tie between them is that crazy peak to peak gondola.

      @ashtonduda9971 btw... blackcomb... one word

    • @tonyhowes669
      @tonyhowes669 День тому

      So... i tried to find a number to compare, cause it is hard to find stats in europe vased on acres... they normally only measure the groomed 'pisted' runs when measuring size. But chatgpt gave an acreage mwasure of portes du soleil... brace yourselves! The Portes du Soleil ski area includes a significant amount of off-piste terrain, which adds to its overall skiable area. The entire domain covers about 400 square kilometers (approximately 98,842 acres), making it one of the largest ski areas in the world12.

    • @tonyhowes669
      @tonyhowes669 День тому

      This is about 11x bigger than whistler blackcomb... and i think the estimate may be smaller than it really is. But perhaps this only includes lift accessed terrain. It gets a bit bigger still if you want to walk a little

    No ones talks about this..but as far as east coast snowboarders kick up the hard pack snow and turn the trail to ice way faster when they carve than skis do...ruins the trail!!!! Thats why snowboarders suck your carving ruins the snow so much faster than parallel skiing
