Travelled to Alaska where I experienced some of the best sights this world has to offer. It was breathtaking to see the abundant wildlife, landscapes, and glaciers. While it was exhilarating seeing the chunks of the glaciers crackle and collapse, it was also a stark reminder that glaciers are receding faster than they are expanding. Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
best one bro.
🙏🙏🙏
I currently use the Beholder EC-1 from eons ago and I've been wondering what new features are available in today's market. Your video went into just enough detail to show off what I need to know. Thank you for showcasing these gimbals. If I ever decide to upgrade I'm definitely eyeing the RS3.
Glad it was helpful!
I did end up getting the RS4 and did it feel like a minor upgrade? We'll dive into that on the next one.
I have the M2 Air 8GB and would love to be able to edit on the go through premiere pro
You should be able to get by with basic editing for short 4K videos.
Will M2 16gb ram 256gb will do the work with da vinci or final cut?
Yes should be enough!
I was thinking of a design and I came across this. Thank you.😊😊😊
I reset my setup!
Hey bro I have question for you @mattchungz. If I have a macbook air m3 with 16gb of ram and using DaVinci Resolve for like edits for a game. Usually I just do some cuts, basic color correction, and a few open FX effects. Do you think it will lag or stop working like my 2018 Intel I5 which never exports properly? Another question: If I like turn down graphics to minimum on my game, do you think my Built in Macbook Screen recorder for M3 Air will drop my game fps? Also I subbed your videos are awesome unlike the other channels that just yap forever and not to point. Thank you so much for your video!
@StyleTanki Thanks for the sub and glad my videos are helpful! For the Macbook Air M3 with 16gb, it should be enough for cuts and color grading on DVR. But, with FX applied, you're likely going to lag on playback if you don't render. Even my M2 Pro lags with FX applied like noise reduction. What you can do is render the specific clips with FX and it should play smoothly. Unless you already have auto rendering on where DVR will render your whole timeline as you edit. I disable this because the rendered cache files eat up your SSD storage fast. So I only render specific clips that have FX applied if I absolutely need to. Otherwise, I apply the effect, disable the node that has the effect, and playback. I'll enable the node to turn on the effect when I'm ready to export. Regarding gaming and fps, sorry but I don't think I can help you there since I don't game on my Macs and haven't tried. In my opinion from what I know though, you'll probably get frame drops because screen recorders use up a good amount of graphic performance. I know cause I've seen export times when exporting videos go really slow if I'm recording my screen so I would imagine a game would be impacted too.
@@mattchungz thank you so much for those awesome tips. I wish you continued success on youtube!
@@mattchungz Also like if my Mac Book M3 Air heats up do you think it is safe to put a like cold towel under the bottom because when I edit on my mac book 2018 air now its super HOT and I do that so it helps with export times.
I’m thinking to upgrade my macbook 2020 to the 2024 m3 16gb 256gb ssd, I usually just edit vlogs as a hobby and not professionally. Outside from that just school stuff (word, excel, …) Do you think these specs are good for this? Any tips for external storage?
@hazellebohol5435 Yeah I think it'll be good for your use case. For external storage, many people that edit videos, myself included, use Samsung T7 SSD drives. I store all my assets in my T7 drives and edit right from them and I haven't had issues with them.
@@mattchungz then it’s decided, thank you so much! I will take a look at the drives you recommended as well 😊
Alright so… alright…. And… alright 🤦♂️
What’s the best one for UA-cam 😅
@MatteoGamingYT all of them are good for UA-cam 🙂
@@mattchungz well for gaming video essays
Very informative, thanks.
@ingridmatschke glad it was helpful!
Would u consider Air M2 8gb 512gb 4k footage basic editing
@DavidAdlawan I've seen people get away with it but it will for sure be using swap memory, which in the long term is not good for your SSD. Even 16gb sometimes on longer edits is barely enough. So if you can afford to upgrade the memory, I definitely would.
YES
Nice video💪🏾💪🏾🫡
Thanks!
Hi Matt thank you for this video. Very helpful. Do you have any experience on how the M2 Air handels Fusion in Davinci. Resolve and when effects are applied to the Clips in the timeline? Does the playback get choppy?
Glad it was helpful. I don’t have Fusion experience unfortunately. In regards to effects, playback will get choppy because I can’t even playback on my M2 Pro Mac Mini without it being choppy. I’d recommend either working with proxies or render the clips with effects. Just pay attention to where your cache is being saved cause rendering will eat up storage.
@@mattchungz Wow. Thx so much for this detailed answer! You really answered all my questions and gave me on top some very useful tips and considerations! Really Sir Thank you very much! Much love from Germany :)
@@PhantasusRex Glad I can help! Thanks for watching
Thank you for your video. If I am editing 4k feature movies around 1hour 30mins using Final Cut Pro, do you think Mac Mini M2 Pro with 16GB Unified memory and 512GB SSD storage be enough? Thanks Rhys
Maybe but for lengths that long, you should probably choose more RAM. Other ways around it would be working with proxies or render your timeline. Just know where you are saving the rendered cache files because when you render, it will eat up storage fast
can the m3 16gb/512gb air edit 8k home videos, does anyone know?
Not sure about 8k but you can probably find videos out there of people testing 8k footage. I think it should be able to handle it but also depends on how long the clips are, how long of a video you’re cutting, etc.
Proxy's would make editing MUCH better here
For sure, but personally I hate dealing with proxies and just want to eliminate as much as I can. I usually never use them and haven’t had much issues but on edits where I have to apply heavy effects like noise reduction and stuff, I’ll use proxies if I need to.
No, FCP is not limited, just different. FCP has adjustment layers. You can rename the colour correction layers now.
What hub are you using with the iPad?
Just some random USB C hub that I use on my MacBook. Got it off Amazon
should I choose an M2 AIR 15 inch 24GB/512 for €1849 or an M3 AIR 15 inch 16GB/512 for €2059? only for photography and youtube in the background
M2 with more ram, my personal opinion
Great Video Matt, had this hub for a while was unable to do anything with this SSD until I saw your video. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
Thanks for this vid. Super clear, well put, and to the point. Just what I was looking for. Appreciate this so much
Glad it was helpful!
You could also stream the mini to the air
Went from razor to première, but it became more unstable over time so I went to resolve a long time ago. Never looked back. Specially not since subscription became a thing
💯
Is editing video via Adobe Premier Pro on MacBook Air M3 valid?
Yes it is
I lately checked. The new model does take an NVME SSD.
I have a question Matt: I work as an Event Videographer using Hp workstations and i'm looking into buying a MacBook (M2 or M3) I deliver 5-6 hours of recorded and exported 1080p 30fps MP4 edited video (1stream of video and audio w/ simple transitions). What Macbook Air/Pro would you recommend me and what spec would you recommend. Thanks!
Are they filmed in 4K or 1080? 5-6 hours is long but if at 1080, M2 or M3 is more than fine, with 16gb of ram or more. If 4K, I would recommend at least bumping up to the Pro chip
If u have a mac, Final Cut is the way. That is all.
hallo! 16gb ram is enough for editing?
Yes, minimum
I’m honestly hesitant to get the extra gigs of ram.. I edit videos on iMovie no extra tabs running just straight editing for UA-cam. I have a 2tb external hard drive and my videos range from 15sec to 10 minutes do you still recommend me upgrading the ram?
It’s always best to get more ram if you can since you can’t upgrade them later with a Mac
WiFi speed impaired with the satechi connected to the mini?
Nope it’s been fine for me
It’s easy to do adjustment layers in FCP X. You just need an empty text clip on top of the timeline. Any effect you put on that clip affects everything below it, just like an “adjustment layer” I made my own title called just that that has the text hidden.
macbook pro m3 8gb ram and 512 or air 16gb ram and 512 for a graphic designer and is it a big difference?
I’d go with air more ram. The pro base is the same M3 so other than better features on the Pro, you’re getting better performance with more Ram from the Air
I saw your video is about Mac M2 "PRO" Mini not Mac M2 Mini. And for me is useless. Lol dude.
I got a M3 air 8gb and use davinci resolve for basic editing. No hiccups or throttling.
It’s using swap memory and using your ssd to write and delete cache files. This strains your ssd in the long run
Did I miss which Mac mini M2 Pro you were using in this video? 8-Ram or 16-Ram?
The M2 Pro comes with 16gb as its base option!
Great Videos ! Luckily the Hub NOW support NVMe :) Great option to expand the mac not paying Apple internal upgrade ! Abo
Thanks! I know, I’ll definitely upgrade
Would it have a same effect and performance for MacBook Pro m2 pro? I’m thinking of switching from a windows notebook which is gtx 3080
I think it would be similar. Except the Mini has a better chassis for cooling and airflow so it should be more efficient and hold performance but I’m not sure how much or if Apple throttles their M chips
m3 for sure ……………..should i get the final cut pro logic to have for light editing
M3 has a slight performance boost but I think it’s more efficient. With the other upgrades like dual monitor support and wifi 6e, I think it’s worth the price difference. I haven’t used Pro Logic so I can’t really comment on it
Hey bro is this laptop good for graphic designer.
I’m not much of a graphic designer but I would imagine it would hold up since it does pretty well for video editing
premiere pro and after effects is too difficult to learn and not very user friendly...Camtasia is so so simple to use
Between these 3, they’re mostly more or less pretty similar when it comes to the interface in their own way. Try CapCut
which one gives you the most templates to work with?
I make GoPro mountain bike videos in 4k and I usually don’t do any crazy fancy edits. Will this be sufficient for that? Or should I get the Mac studio?
This should be more than enough!
Do you suggest mac mini m2 pro for color grading in DaVinci resolve . If so does the base model is okay ?
If the M2 Pro is within your budget then yes I would recommend it. The base model M2 Pro is enough but it mostly depends on your workflow, footage, and projects
At the moment we have been working with Davinci Resolve for over 2 years, but we will switch to osx when we buy our new mac book pro then we will try finalcut pro, we have heard that it runs pretty fast and we hope to be able to edit our videos faster and especially on the go and on our travels
Both are great but it will take getting use to. I’ve actually noticed videos render and export much faster on DVR than on FCP. Every time I go back to FCP, I just feel so restricted. Only time I go back and use FCP, is if my project only needs to be cut with no grading or anything else needed. It’s faster for that because by default it ripple edits and so I just pop in, cut and snap, and done. Good luck with the transition!
@@mattchungz the only thing we don't know yet is if we should get the pro or the max with 36gb, can you give us a recommendation which one we should buy?
@@NuestraNuevaVida_Vital I bought the 16 inch M3 pro MacBook Pro It works great
@@NuestraNuevaVida_Vital if you have the budget for it, go with beefier specs. It’ll last you longer and expand your limits when you start to either upgrade your camera or editing capabilities. Rendering times will be faster and you’ll just be able to do more.
@@mchungcinematography I think we will go with the m3 max 16 core 30 GPU
I tried this hub but my Mac Mini m1 lost Wi-Fi connectivity. I sent it back.
I’ve heard of people having wifi issues but I never experienced it myself. I’ve noticed Satechi has lemons. Even my unit had an issue with constantly disconnecting from my Mac resulting in the "Didn’t eject properly” notification. I sent it back and Satechi sent me a new one. No issues with this one
hallo!the 16gb ram is ok for editing on fcpx?
Yep, 16gb should be the minimum you go with
this really gave me a clearer idea on what to consider and what macbook I should get. thanks
Glad it was helpful
