    Lovely work. Any tips in UV'ing for something like this? From the way the time lapse makes it looks it seems as if Texel Density Checker does most of the work, is this at all accurate?

    First of all, congratulations on your wonderful work. I think games with this approach are beautiful. Second, is it possible to create 3D characters with this technique as well? If so, what path could we follow?

    hi! thank you for making this insightful time lapse. this kind of workflow is kinda here on youtube. i'm glad that i found your video! if you don't mind, i have several questions to ask you: - please cmiiw, but i saw that the texture is instantly updated on the mesh in blender as you draw in PS. Are you using some kind of add on/plugins? - how do you deal with angled/diagonal edges for the pixels? there were times where i wanted to make an outline that goes around something. but with pixels, you can't really get a soft diagonal lines, it's always looks like dotted lines. i'm curious to see how you tackle this issue. - this is a bit out of topic, but when dealing with more organic shape, let's say humanoid 3d model, where there's more curves. is it possible to avoid any possible warping in the pixel art texture? or is the texture warping bound to happen due to the curvy mesh? would love to hear your thoughts on these. thanks in advance!

    beautiful work. though i really wish we would stray slightly away from 19th century oriental tropes in depicting middle eastern cultures and more grounded in the diversity of motifs and styles throughout history. for some reason we allowed westerners to appropriate ancient greek civilization into the occidental world. but ancient greeks were a middle eastern and north african cultural group. less curvy swords and more maces and cleavers would be more accurate.

    Hi, I’m new to Blender, how did you import and use the texture planes created in Photoshop and add them to the 3D model in Blender? Thank you for answering!

    • @atskaheart635
      @atskaheart635 8 місяців тому

      In the Shading menu, in the node window, press shift+A and add an Image texture node. In the image texture load your pixel art image and set the filter mode to point instead of linear

    • @atskaheart635
      @atskaheart635 8 місяців тому

    How come this is low poly???? These are 100% high poly models

    • @atskaheart635
      @atskaheart635 10 місяців тому

      Low poly here is referring more to the aesthetics rather than actual technical limitation of polys. It usually isn't worth it from a production perspective to invest much time in model optimization. Especially when many details are, in fact, summarized as 2D planes.

    • @atskaheart635
      @atskaheart635 10 місяців тому

      I will even say that if optimization was an issue, one should rather focus on the alpha overdraw (which would mean that we should add even more polys to optimize 2D planes with big areas of transparent pixels).

    basic question but how do you get a square brush in photoshop? and what do you prefer to tackle in PS vs. Aseprite?

    • @atskaheart635
      @atskaheart635 11 місяців тому

      Keep the mouse click pressed on the Brush Icon, and that will allow you to choose Pencil, which is pixel perfect. PS and Aseprite can achieve similar results, but out of convenience with how layers and channels are managed in PS, I prefer to work in there instead of Aseprite.

    • @BenGraceCreative
      @BenGraceCreative 11 місяців тому

      Yeah i've used the pencil....maybe i just need to adjust my resolution so it's pixel perfect. sometimes i want to paint with a square that's four pixels large just cuz idk lol@@atskaheart635

    Hi! I'm trying to study this style for a university assignment. Just a quick question: How do you determine the size of the pixels on objects that are smaller or higher scale? because not everything is pixel perfect. How do you determine this? Just eyeing and seeing if it looks good?

    • @atskaheart635
      @atskaheart635 11 місяців тому

      Good question. Your eye can help you, but it's always best to know the actual base resolution (you can later add or remove resolution if you consider it for artistic purposes). This is achieved by the Texel Density addon, you set up a resolution of # pixels per meter. That will be your base resolution you use as a reference. You can selectively increase the resolution of certain polys where you may want to add extra details (texts, for example).
