I used to see those little tents on display at Kmart above the tent boxes being stored.

It does suck that you buy the suit and pretty much ditch the pants (and that they no longer make the even cheaper emergency rain jacket that used to sell for about $10), but one suggestion for the pants is to keep them in the car for days when you're going to be doing something like sitting in bleachers during a windy day, etc., and use them as a WIND layer so that your legs don't get as cold while sitting around. No more feeling that wind pass right through your pants to your legs.

Hey Snackbox, sorry I didn't get to watch your whole show, I was in and out of it. I'm not going to be on the trail as planned this year due to breaking 2 bones in my foot 3 weeks ago and having a severe laceration requiring 7 stitches. 😢😢😢. Maybe next year. Good luck on your nostalgic adventure, I know you can do it. I look forward to watching your adventure.

3:18 Thank you for the bear/food reminder. I work for the agency in my state that must handle all bear complainants. So many of our incidents could be avoided if people would just manage their food/trash responsibly. Unfortunately, we have a lot of tourists that find it fun to feed bears and then go home at the end of the week. They don’t see the detrimental effects of their actions once they return home. On a brighter note, thank you for your tips and tricks videos. I am heading out to hike segments 15 - 28 in a couple of weeks. This will be my first attempt at a long hike. Your videos have been super helpful in my planning for this adventure.

What just happened

1970's back packing. 5 pound REI Cruiser Frame backpack, 8 pound REI A frame tent with fly, REI down sleeping bag, Svea 123 white gas stove and SVEA Cook Kit with windbreaker, and ensolite pad to sleep on.45 pounds. Been there done that and had great time but not going back. Ensolite pad was a long night. Have fun!

Bustang is so underrated. It's a fabulous service and if a person has all day to get back to Denver, it's a beautiful relaxing ride (IME!) with a change of bus in Grand Junction. Honestly the views along the route are beautiful. The bus makes several stops including one that allows time to buy snacks and things from a convenience store. Big fan of the Bustang/Outrider services.

Camel up before you start Seg 2. Drink a liter at the South Platte before you start, refill that liter and then start.

Ursacks are fine. The problem is a lot of people that use them don’t use odor proof containers like Mylar bags to put their food inside of that and then put that inside their Ursack. Resealable Mylar bags are a critical part of the solution

I want to do one 14er on my hike next year. Which one is the easiest from the Colorado Trail? Also do you just stash your gear behind a tree and do the hike up the mountain or do you carry it all up there?

I've been weekend warrior the past 2 years in Colorado and would like to do the CT but am maxing out at 10 miles / day. What can I do to increase mileage? already have 11 lbs baseweight. I'd like to think i could build trail legs weekend warrioring, but is that only a thing with a thru?

Hello! Thanks for the video. My wife and daughter are going to meet me somewhere on the trail for a zero and a resupply. If you were to pick ONE place on the trail where you would take the help the most where would it be? I was possibly thinking for a ride into Salida?

To be honest, I don't see a reason to use a quilt. I just use my sleeping bag opened and in similar fashion as quilt. This way, I can choose whether I want to use a sleeping bad or quilt. 2-in1 :)
