The sheer terror this menu gave me as a kid stayed with me all these years, and I didn't realize until I played RE2 remake last week. Instead of going in the gas station at the beginning, I ran down the road for a bit, and the atmosphere, combined with the growling and moans of unseen zombies, made me freeze instantly. Peak fear factory.

I personally like to believe that this is being sung by Lady Vashj and the other Handmaids of Azshara, to Azshara as she sits upon her Eternal throne. Then as the drums come in, it is N'zoth reminding her of the deal she made with him; however, the visuals are Azshara's memories, playing as the song is sung.
