This is from Bill Medley's 5th solo album from 1971 called A Song For You. A beautiful rendition of a classic that hit with the Righteous Brothers a few years earlier. This video is for educational purposes only.

2022 05 04 Bettye LaVette Blues Hall Of Fame Induction
Переглядів 1542 роки тому
Bettye LaVette was inducted into The Blues Hall of Fame in 2020. Due to Covid, the awards were not presented live that year or in 2021. So 2022 brought in some new inductees and the 2020 recipients got theirs in person. Mike Kappus, long-time friend, who signed Bettye to his Rosebud Booking Agency in 2003, inducted her. My apologies for the abrupt end, but I had to go over to the stairs to esco...
photos of various characters from West Orange, NJ circa 1971-1975?

Here's a video that Tony Magliaro made of a bunch of his old friends from West Orange, NJ . I'd guess the photos are mostly from the early 70s. Good times back then...Costa Cottage(Grand Patio), The Reservation, and so many more places where we used to hang. I had to remove the songs that Tony had embedded due to YT copyright restrictions. The songs were As The Sun Still Burns Away by Ten Years...

Kenny Jeremiah Memorial - Hey Gyp
Переглядів 8663 роки тому
This is in the memory of Kenny Jeremiah, who passed away as a result of the Corona Virus on December 4, 2020. He was one of the original singers of The Soul Survivors. He is singing lead on this song and it was his showstopper live. Most of the photos used are mine. The Dedications photos were grabbed from FB some time ago. Thanx to the original posters. Kenny was very kind to me when I was jus...
What is the name of this song?
Переглядів 1143 роки тому
This song is from the Capricorn Box of Fire/Fury material. The song is listed as Long Time No See, credited as Ronnie Miller & The Pips. However, when searching Discogs, a Ronnie Miller did a song by the same title on another Bobby Robinson label, Enjoy. But it is NOT that song. Can anyone supply the name of the song or the name of the group?

Great song from his 1972 album Drinking Man's Friend. There are 2 other versions on YT, but both have the same audio glitches, so I have rectified that. This video is for educational purposes only.

Great New Orleans record arranged by Wardell Quezergue. Anyone know who the members are? John Ridley has suggested it sounds like Curley Moore. Whoever they are, I LOVE this record.

I love it, RB
Wishing you both a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. All our Love A&B xxx
Absolutely great, as is Dynamite. Maybe the best white soul singer of all time.
this is on broken barricades CD = Plenty of extra tracks, interesting
I never knew his name, all I knew was his vocals, & that he was a member of The Dells. I Touched A Dream was my favorite song from the group. His vocals were fire!! RIP Marvin Junior.
I saw him in 1970 in the Eberthalle in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, entrance fee 10 Deutsch Mark. I stand in the first row and i was only 16 years old. Alvin Lee is one of the best, for ever and ever. Thank you Alvin, now I´m 69 years old and i hear this band and i love this band.
What song is that in the background
" I touched a dream". And it is beautiful 😊❤
With all my respect to Gary. Matthew did a better job singing it, like all the tunes that he sang. They were not for Gary's voice.Salty Dog was very meticulously constructed and engineered by Matthew Fisher. It is a masterpiece and Fisher voice was perfect for Pilgrims Progress. Gary did sing it sometimes with Procol Harum and did not fit.Just my humble opinion.
Totally agreed ,all members were underrated ,but Matt the most i do thinck ,he hadn't the shoulders to fight over the rock business ,he ought to get more récognition from the scene ,he finally got his due from " awsop" music .Glad for Matt & his wife Carole ...
This is such a beautiful song, especially when sung by Gary Brooker.
If no one lives in the house or area why does Mr and Miss Dudly still work there who pays them?
The house is owned by the surviving family, and they pay to have it looked after But as stated the staff don't spend the night after dark, and they mention that no one who rents the house stays more than a few days.
R.I.P. Kenny
Holy crap, that is one scary demented broad. Her smiling makes the hair on back of my neck stand up. 😱
Kenny's influences and idols were The Young Rascals and Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, who were also manic and wild in their early appearances onstage. Mitch was from Hamtrammick's section of Detroit (my hometown) and The Rascals were from New York. The Soul Survivors were from Philadelphia and "Hey Gyp" is a cover of a 1965 Donovan folk song named after his musician mate, "Gypsy "Dave Lewis. So sorry to hear of Kenny's recent passing. R.I.P., Kenny Jeremiah.
Tell like it is AMEN 😊🎉😂❤!
This is my favorite version of this song. The anguish in Bill's voice is heartbreaking , and the ending phrase has such finality and resignation. Absolutely stunning. Truly great singing.
Absolutely correct! And he said it best, "That's impossible"!
BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE,SANG WITH LOTS OF FEELINGS..🎶💙
I love smile. Shes like "I GET TO SAY THE THING!" Shes super psyched.
Just heard this on the haunting of hill house
Only one of a kind is Bill Medley
Was Fisher gone by this time?
Matthew Fisher (who produced the "Salty Dog" album) departed Procol Harum not long after the album was released, so yes he was quite gone whenever Gary and remaining band recorded this take.
Young Bill Medley voice was off the chain
He lost his voice once when it came back it wasn't quite the same.
poco a poco. The hesitancy and cadence is transcendent.
thanks Kenny Shame Shame Shame
Sweet sorrow another masterpiece. Thank you.
Alvin definitely did not subscribe to economy of notes. He played the heck out the minor pentatonic with the half step blues notes tossed in. One of my guitar heroes that motivated me to play for hours driving everybody nuts.
I was there that night with a friend, his father and my father. I was 14. Jethro Tull opened the show. I think maybe a dozen people at the most in the audience had ever heard of them. They were spectacular and really won the crowd over. They were definitely more bluesy and jazzy at that stage. I also had never heard of Ten Years After and was pleasantly blown away hearing loud, fast guitar solos, especially since I had been playing guitar for a couple years. Blood Sweat and Tears were considered to be the headliners. Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart closed it out. Alvin Lee definitely influenced my playing for a while, but like just about everything else I outgrew it at some point. But I’m really pleased that this song from that night exists. The sound quality is surprisingly good. It would be great if more music from that night was available.
Uno dei capolavori HARUMIANI grande GARY BROOKER rip !!!!!!
Alvin, brilliant, yeah,huh...
Apparently the recording of this song was very labor intensive and time consuming. It was the most worked on pieces on an album of incredible songs such as A SALTY DOG. The ending of PILGRIM'S PROGRESS as recorded in the studio always moves me. So simple and yet ...
Procol is as always beyond these mortal things.
Always love this scene - so quotable it's a scream! 🙂
Alvin Lee is as good as if not better than Hendrix, Blackmore, page, etc, He is brilliant 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Believe it or not, the first thing that came up my mind hearing this was - Hendrix who ?? 🤭 But I remember first time I heard him, it was Sssh, in 1971 or so, and to me then it was a total letdown... go figure
Much much better hands down! No comparison!
la voix de GARY !!ok!
Always loved this song .
I think Gary honored Matthew this way - he could have chosen from plenty of his own songs, but chose this one by Matt. The song is very plain and simple, and it's incredible, how much it owes to Barrie J. Wilson's drumming here. B.J. was probably the most illustrative drummer of rock music - perfect for the PROCOL HARUM songs and music!
BJ Wilson crushes it again
My uncle, Sandy, was the keyboard player on ,Mama Soul. Rip kenny
Man, all these women are so beautiful.
With Love... Saudades. Procol Harum.... FOREVER
Most beautiful love song. I ever heard , to this day,
Brooker sings Fisher, once again. Wonder if Matt ever got any royalties for this one.
COOL
One of Keith Reid’s best. Matt fisher composed this.
Matthew also sang it on the album. And produced it, too. Easily PH's finest album.
Jolly good. Wonder if Jack Ponissi has heard this version.
This is it. And it is enough.
