Couple beers, we'll get it started, u won't win 😂
It's going to run if it wants to or not😂
IH printed a small 8-1/2 by 11 flyer only 8 pages long of optional tools and equipment made by other companies. I had one, hard telling where it went, but I do not remember a backhoe being available. But lots of other crazy stuff was made. Dad bought our first Cub Cadet in 1961, mostly to mow around our farm. A 7 hp Kohler really wasn't enough horsepower for a 38 inch mower, and that early mower used a small cross-section belt between the right mower spindle and the center pulley that fhe front pto actually drove, the right spindle drove the left spindle with a steel cord reinforced toothed timing belt, and they didn't like shock loads at all. We broke two of the toothed belts, the third one we traded the '61 Cub Cadet for a model 70 with the 3 bladed deck. A seven hp engine really wasn't enough horsepower, 10 hp was a good size, I have a hot-rodded K-321 14 hp Kohler in my model 72 and I have to be careful I don't slip the belts too much, the belts slip and you burn the belts up. My 982 with the 20 hp Onan will burn belts too, but the belts are a heavier cross-section belt. Dad had a early version of a hog confinement barn with a center driveway just less than 6 ft wide, our loader tractor, Farmall M was more like 7 feet wide. Dad actually priced that DANCO loader, it actually cost more than the Cub Cadet, Dad did trade the original and mower for a 70 and 38 inch 3 spindle deck. I refurbished that 70 4-5 years ago, put a 10 hp K-241 in it and Firestone 23-8.50x12's 23 degree lug tires on the back. I have 23-10.50x12's on my 72, also 23 degree Firestones, and 26-12.00x12 23 degree Firestones on the 982, I used to go to several Cub Cadet plow days every year but haven't been to one in over 5 years. But it's really nice having good traction when you need it. The 72 is a really great plowing tractor, it's 2nd gear is faster than any other gear drive Cub Cadet. And the 982 being a hydro plus having a cat 1 three-point it's a great plowing tractor too. I'm not a fan of the ONAN engine but I don't mow with it anymore since I got a Cub Cadet TANK ZERO TURN with 27 hp Kawasaki engine & 54 inch deck.
That's a lot of information. Thanks for sharing.
Ich habe genau die selbe😂😂
It's a great running saw.
Awesome, love those Power-Products Tecumseh twostrokes! They require 8:1 mixture for brakein, then 11:1 with streight weight 30 oil. Thats pretty oily ;)
Well, I'm running Stihl two stroke oil and 89 octane. It sounds good though.
@@SecondWindMechanical That´s brave!
I have a old Homelite model 17 that I also run on Stihl oil.
cool
Thanks
Throwing some nice chips!
Thanks! I need to find some better wood for it to cut.
Awesome vintage lawn mower. I noticed there were lots of vintage outdoor power equipment on your channel including the vintage chainsaws. Hipa supplies parts for outdoor power equipment and we are looking for youtubers who is interested in talking something about how to bring a vintage chainsaw back to life. Is that some topic you would like to talk about? Maybe we can collaborate on this?
Thanks, I think you follow me on tiktok as well.
@@SecondWindMechanical Yep, I also followed you there.
Ain't seen one of them in a long time
Nothing runs like those old Homelite saws!
They are the best. I have a few of them and looking for others.
I found one
Like the one in the video?
@ Yhea it was stuck in the woods because my paw threw it out like 30 years ago because the engine worn out but I found it first. I thought it was just two separate wheels so I can easily pull out next whenever I saw a piece of metal attached I thought it was an old busted wagon until I saw the hole in the side and on the top until I actually noticed it was a lawnmower whenever I found the handles.
It doesn’t even have a motor. I looked for another hour for the motor, but never found anything.😊
I even have a video on it and don’t explain me why there’s a microwave sound💀💀💀💀💀💀

I like mower in rear view.
It's a old 3hp Briggs and Stratton with a wind up starter from the 60'ss.
Here in the UK back in them days I guess it would have been paraffin, don't know what yanks call it ,I suppose white gas ?
Yes, it's white gas. You can also use unleaded gasoline.
whats the fuel?
White gas
My dad has one we used to use it growing up for camping you lighting it brought back so many memories of my youth
You're welcome
We had one of these back in the 60’s. It lived under our porch between uses.
Nice
I have the exact same mower except it is blue and branded Kraft King I pulled it out of a landfill almost 30 years ago. And I still have it. All I had to do was clean the ignition points.
Awesome, they are simple to repair.
I noticed the aftermarket kits need the needle slightly.lower.....I'm going to try oem kit as well for my current one...i know their getting very expensive
Hey, sorry for the late reply. I have noticed the aftermarket kits not being consistent.
Purrs like a kitten!💯❤️
Yea it does
Alright, so hear me out. They have tractor pulls for mini tractors! I just found out about that pretty recently. This one would be perfect!!!
I don't know about that Cub Cadet originals use a small 3/8 drive belt.
Takes some practice to get the timing right. But so handy to have. Great job getting everything installed and functioning!
Thanks
Цепь наточи
It is sharp it's slow because it is gear driven.
Singkat ,padat, meledak😂
The giant flame to black made me chuckle
Damn, how did that come about?!
The injector is dumping too much fuel.
@@SecondWindMechanical Oh, I see, that could end up a sort of runaway on fuel...
Burnin excellent in the end, but damn, that beginning was quite a show!
Thanks
Chains as blunt as a dogs cock 😂😂
I like that.
Thanks
When I was about 8 I had a mower just like that I mowed yards with and payed for it myself my dad made the deal with the lady that owned monkey wards in our small town
That's great!
the engine sounded like a diesel engine at the beginning
Yeah, it has the Briggs and Stratton rod knock.
I have two B&S engines with the dial throttle. One a 1969 92908 and another is just like this one from 1965. I prefer the throttle cable but its just oddly satisfying how simple and how well the knob works.
I know I have never seen one till I got this one.
Still works!
Yes it does 👍🏻
Beautiful! Always love the crank starting but the big knob throttle control is spectacular! Love some Power Craft Montgomery wards!
The knob for the throttle is the best part.
Did this engine originally have the off / on switch on top of shroud?
No there was a sticker over the hole from the factory.
Awesome engine, the model 8´s are great and indestructable! The airfilter is wrong though, it´s from a Model 6 I think.
Yeah, that one came off a 2hp Briggs. I was waiting on the correct airfilter for it.
I have a 1965 3HP Briggs just like it, mine is a 82906 model number. Runs great.
This one is made out of spare parts. The blower cover with the crank is off a Montgomery Ward mower. When I got the mower, it was missing the wind vane for the governor, the ignition coil, and the recoil cover.
@SecondWindMechanical Mine is a complete Montgomery wards engine, don't have the mower body for it though. I have it on a 2001 yard machines 21" deck.
From a monkey wards!
Wow, that is cool!
Thanks
I have one of them on a original rover slasher. I believe it’s about 8 hp
Exellent, a Model 8 Briggs from before `68. Got one of those myslef!
Nice!
Excellent, absolutely superb mower! Glad you brought it back to life :)
Thanks
@@SecondWindMechanical You´re welcome, got yourself one more subscriber there ;)
Thanks
We had one of those in the late 60's or early 70s but it didn't have the windup feature but was self propelled. It mowed a really pretty lawn but was a bit of a handful to operate.
Yeah I had to idle this one down so I don't have run after it.
That's awesome
Thanks
Still have my grandfather's
I have my great grandfathers Sears handyman reel mower from the 30's.
I just got one of these with the drive attachment
Yours has the self-propelled attachment?
Well that is one way to do it 😂😂😂😂
Yeah I wasn't expecting a fireball 🤣
Bamboo is a pain in the @$$
Not with this, it isn't
Cool. Very cool.
Thanks
I had Briggs and Stratton lawn mower the thing lasted for year's whilst the rest lawn mower disintegrated around the motor 😊
Sounds like it's time to find a new deck 😄
Великолепный двигатель, можно поставить в более современную стиральную машину, только нужно добавить генератор для питания электроники.
This thing is terrifying
I would hate to get bit by it.
@@SecondWindMechanical you would? Who woulda thunk! 😅
