8mm Mauser Man Bachelor Party Shoot Out (Yee Haw Edition)
Переглядів 319День тому
Well ladies and (almost exclusively) gentlemen. I recently married the young woman of my dreams, and had the boys out for a range day. It was a hoot and a half. Fun times and Tannerite were had by all. A rare video by 8mm Mauser Man that has 0 educational or practical value, but a great deal of entertainment value.

I have an MA in history from an accredited regional institution in my state. Part of the reason I have abandoned the idea of a career as a professional historian is because of the lack of information about past conflicts(the kind of courses, coincidentally, that typically fill up at institutions) invite their consideration and study with a type of dispassion that erases the human element. I have found that over the years I am incapable of it, and that I struggle in an environment which judges one for being incapable. I took a very insightful class on the Civil War, perhaps the most insightful one I've ever taken, and one of the required texts was about the effects that the Civil War had on the environment. It isn't often considered a factor, but the thesis of the book was that the war's effect on the environment was a contributing factor America's postwar distaste for military conflict and the continued occupation of the former Confederacy. I have had the good fortune to speak with veterans of almost every major military conflict since WWI. My great-uncle was a World War II veteran of the Pacific; my grandfather was a grunt during Vietnam; I went to school with veterans of the Global War On Terror and the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan,. I've even interviewed soldiers that fought in Spain during the Civil War from 1936-1939. While I would say that, to a man, none of them regretted their military service, all of them, without question, regretted war. These men, who had done and seen real violence on a large scale, were some of the greatest pacifists I have ever met. Two years later, screwing around on UA-cam and about to start grad school for a second time, I came across this channel and this video. Iat is a short video, but a very good one. This period in human history will, I believe, be the most studied. I also do not envy the future historians who have to pour over millions of hours of video evidence of man's inhumanity to man. The war in Ukraine was avoidable and is not just regrettable, but unconscionable. The war in Israel and Palestine in 2023 and 2024 is equally as regrettable. Once, at a barbecue, my grandfather was talking politics with his various sons-in-law and I overheard one of them exclaiming quite confidently that the US should make war with one imagined enemy or another. My grandfather was very old, very tired, and a little drunk. He cleared his throat then he very quietly explained that the man was incorrect. "There's no point to it, no point to any of it," he said, "Why should young men because old men want to get one over on each other? Let the old guys fight it out, if they want to. But they don't have the guts." I think that we must humanize and empathize with our supposed enemies. We may not know them, but the overwhelming majority of people are focused on two things: staying alive and the precise location of one's next meal. My grandfather's words that day have stayed with me ever since. This video, I think, should be mandatory viewing before any history course, from the bog-standard US history surveys to graduate level. It's easy to think of war in terms of this town taken or that railroad destroyed, in terms of numbers and flags moving on a battlefield. I believe that any attempt to see it that way cheapens the loss to humankind, and that in itself is a crime.

Don't shoot .380 out of a 9x18, it's headsapcing on the extractor. If you want a defensive load just use a cast bullet that has been powder coated (don't need a gasckeck but it never hurts). Cast bullets do alot of damage and you can make the lead a little softer as long as you use a gas check and powder cost, I go with roundd nose and no lube grooves a shout dint need any and it just feeds better but depending on the shape of the cast I may have accidentally dropped a harden steel ball bearing into some, they do alot of damage. As for new .38 +p revolver's. I always like to shoot at least 1 proof load though any new firearm as alot of makers don't. I would not reccomend it but I do know someone who has a .38 revolver he got a box of factory .38spl and mexican matched it to .357 proof pressures, shot it remotely twice in each cyinder and now he reloads .38 to kind of stout .357 loadings, nearly 1000 of them. I mean I know it's how .357 got invented with some cylinders blowing but that was a long time ago and maybe now with better alloys they can handle it.

With regard to Turkish ammo, I recently bought 1000 rounds of 9x19 BPS( because at 220 for 1000 how could you not on a budget) and had general success, no serious failures other than some failures to feed which were caused by extreme brass flaking. It was like a glitter bomb had denoted in the pistol. Even only 50 rounds would cause brass to find its way in every nook and cranny. Was able to clean with compressed air but never have seen brass flaking like I have with BPS

@@8mmmauserman Appreciate your reply and sound advice. I did pull a few and found the same 55 grains of whatever powder they use. I noticed most upper end loads in USA manuals stay around 49,000-50,000psi pressure max out at around 48-50 grains of powder. I reloaded the same S&b powder back in the cases with 3x 48, 49, 50, 51 and 52 to test pressure and watch the chrono.

When I bought my Mak, I also got an extra barrel chambered in .380 ACP, and a barrel press to install it in the frame. I never did install it but it might be a good idea to have that extra barrel in case 9x18 becomes unavailable. Otherwise your gun becomes a club.

Some years back I picked up some mid Fifties Yugo to shoot in a G 43 I had. Before taking it out I got on line and searched for info on wether or not there could be problems with the ammo. I was stopped in my tracks by reading a posting by a guy that had blown up a nice all matching G 43 on his last shot of the day! Curious to learn more I pulled the bullet from one of my batch of rounds and sectioned the case. I discovered that the wall thickness varied. I compared it to a sectioned Winchester 3006 case and noticed the Winchester's wall thickness was very uniform and it's interior surface smooth and clean compared to the somewhat deterioated Yugo interior. Moving forward I pulled all of Yugo bullets saving powder and bullets. I then simply used my loading press and 8mm dies to make 8mm brass from range sourced 06' and 270 cases. A plus here is being able to use non corosive primers. Also I was able to down load by a couple of grains which saves wear and tare on the gun.
