I was never huge on basketball but I was playing 2K25 with some friends and thought back to when I was a baby back in the early 2000’s my dad had a grizzlies and raptors sweater for some reason I remember them even though I was so young but they were insanely cool and it had me wondering why the NBA changed such cool logos. My dad managed to find his grizzlies sweater and gave it me which I was hyped about I love vintage sports clothing.

In a word, the answer is "no."

Logos do not necessarily need to be the portrait of team mascot. They are both part of the team identity. I do agree the logos nowadays are getting less creative and minimal, but to me they're just different styles according to design trend evolution.

some of these logos are legacy logos in the fact that they pay homage to older logos (pistons), or they’re the logo the team has used for decades (lakers, knicks). also, you’ve gotta be blind to not see the pelican in the pelicans, & the hornet in the hornets, 😂. i do agree though that nba logos, jerseys, & color schemes have been terrible the past decade & a half. minimalism is a trend that is ruining creativity and i miss the days of the late ‘90s, early ‘00s of the nba where boundaries were pushed.
