Flying around Swinside, Crummock Water, Buttermere and back. A gorgeous day back in 2016 with my good friends.

Lovely late afternoon on Combe flying around some convergence clouds after a short wait for it to develop. It was doing the same earlier in the day and several pilots had some nice flights. Later on it was weak but fun!

A long morning spent working then problems on the M4 meant a 2.5 hour journey to Golden Ball. Was it worth it?

A small flying window in what's been a terrible start to the Autumn with lots of rain. With the wind direction looking like it was going to be a problem and one pilot already gone XC, what about trying to get to the pub "Crown and Garter" field which is in Inkpen Common? Maybe or maybe not?

A short flight from Milk Hill White Horse to the pub at the end of the day on Sunday 29th July 2024. A hoofing thermal over the hill and struggled to get down.

When you just need to relax and enjoy flying with friends.

With a deadline, does having plans in the evening affect your flying day. Yes when after all day you get a climb out at 5pm ish. So the clock was ticking...

After a 4.30am start driving from the SE to Grasmere in the Lake District, then helping setup the LCC we headed up Alcock Tarn in the evening. An extended top to bottom local flight taking in the gorgeous views with friends.

So a few of us went to Rybury in the afternoon 12/06/2024 after the wind had backed from NW round to nearly West. It was nil wind on arrival but then picked up but lots of top cover making it extremely difficult to find a climb. Mike found one and the rest of us tried to pick it off over the top of the hill fort.

Another evening restitution flight on Combe, but its freezing cold, lots of cloud and some rain. and my instruments failed. However Combe delivered again and rewarded us with a lovely end of day restitution flight.

After a long wait on 8th June 2024 on Combe Gibbet the wind finally abated by around 6pm for a gorgeous evening flying with a lovely group of pilots and guests.

After the recent strong and rough conditions, it is really nice to chill out by choosing an afternoon thats a bit overcast but some sun just popping out to keep going. A quiet hill with light to nil wind and grabbing a thermal for one last gentle last climb out on Combe Gibbet.

With the wind direction less than ideal on the White Horse, we try to grab a thermal and mange this in the early afternoon. Rewarded with a lovely 4m/s climb out with a small gaggle. We then head off and I pushed on a bit too soon and found no lift under some epic looking clouds. Some days you just can't win. Anyway lots of fun had by all.

24th April - A cold and gloomy Combe Gibbet morning with excellent lapse rates for flying but forecast to get strong then relax later in the day for a possible XC flight. Planned a flight to the south east but should have kept going to the south and west and bombed out cross winding.
