The MOST Painful Job on a Ford 5.4 3V...And it's not the timing chains!
Not the timing chain? Nope, its getting the brake booster hose back on the manifold.
Why do I say it is the most painful? One, you'll likely find you need to do it just when you think the timing chain job is all done and your rig doesn't idle right. Two, the go to option you're told is to pull the intake manifold until you can reach it. Three, well the method I outline, no room to show it on camera, will have your arm and hand get a few scrapes and cuts...
I got a pretty decent scratch along my arm getting it in place this way, so be warned, I am not responsible if you get an owie. You can always spend an hour or so pulling the intake instead.
Only a few tools needed:
Flashlight
O2 Socket
A Helper (one that understand that you mean your left not theirs, hard to find)
A Ramp or Jack & Jack Stand

Changing Crankshaft Sensor on 2006-2012 Nissan Sentra MR20DE 2.0 Engine P0335

A simple job, but you do need to get under the car This is one potential cause of a no start or long crank to start condition I recommend buying the Nissan one if you don't have a preferred aftermarket brand: Nissan part: 23731T Time: ~15 minutes or less (longer if you don't have everything ready) Tools: 8mm 1/4" drive socket I prefer deep for the added extension 10mm 1/4" drive socket short ex...
Ford 5.4 Triton Valve Cover removal & installation made easy (well, easier)

Some people would say "sell and avoid it" It really isn't too bad, if you look at it as a puzzle. I couldn't film actually doing it, you need both hands free and I don't have a camera operator, but I do talk through with hand gestures how to get the passenger one in and out. The drivers side is pretty easy to remove and reinstall. Two big items: 1. Twist your injector connections out of the way...
Trick to hold parts in place

I needed a pulley to stay positioned just so while so I could mount the fan on a water pump. With little room to work, and no helper, what can you do? Do what I do in the video, a quick shot of spray adhesive. You can also do the same for other parts. With a bit of pressure and surface area, a lot of parts will stay put well enough to get the job done with limited hassle.

Easier than you think once your realize you're throwing the old grommets away...Think... Cut the old off, Push the new on It helps to use a simple tool you probably have, a 13mm deep socket, though others may work, and some lube...I kept out the jokes to keep it family friendly
Tips for doing engine bay work on your Ford F150 5.4

A few things I figured I'd pass along after doing the timing chains, tensioner, rockers, & lash adjuster/rockers on my 2005 F150 5.4 last year. It is a bit of a job, taking a couple hours a day over the course of a week. I'd say it was a solid days worth of work, though I could do it much quicker if I had just done a few things I avoided up front. Kudos to FordTechMakuloco for having great vids...
Jeep XJ Underhood listen March 13, 2022 #Shorts

Added some Rislone and most the ticks went away (or aren't as loud) after a drive back from town (~15 miles) Listening with a stethoscope, the clatter/tick/whatever is loudest when probing the exhaust on #2 and intake of #3. Loudest at idle or when coming back down to idle after revving. Sounds most like other piston slap vids, though sound remains even when warm. Opinions vary wildly about how...
