A day on the lake with my son
A few weeks ago my son and I spent the day sailing around Lake Mead. It was a great experience for both of us. I know this is different from what I usually post, but it's humbling to remember the drive behind your work.

Insignia 24" LED TV/DVD Combo Repair

After 4 yrs I finally got around to fixing the TV. Then the remote didn't work 😒...So once I cleaned the contacts, and stretched the battery contacts it worked fine. The TV had a cracked weld (solder) and that's that! Hope this gives some of you closure...(FYI I am not a professional repair man. I just looked for anything out of place and fixed it.) Dang, it cut me off. We'll, I pulled it through, and it worked. So keep the metal hangers. They come in handy.
Yeah i knew it wasn’t that easy🤬
Are you not able to unlock yours?
Hey Dave, I have a Braeburn 7205 model, it doesn’t have that button in the back, if you can any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Does your thermostat have a small hole on the front (to the left of the screen)?
@@mechanicdave80 just the reset button, even after I reset it, it’s still locked
@Chonny559 ok, have you tried removing the thermostat from the wall base, resetting it, then taking (2) "AA" batteries out?
It sounds like you might have a level 2 lockout in effect. Here's a link to the manufacturer site for your thermostat. There are some areas you might not want to adjust, since they can potentially change how the thermostat functions. thermostat.guide/braeburn/braeburn-7205-smart-wi-fi-programmable-thermostat-installation-guide/#notes-installer-settings
Yours burnt worse than mine. Mine fell out of the socket when the end melted. I'll never buy anything from Feit again. I'll be contacting Costco about the crap they're selling and suggest that they buy quality items instead of Feit.
I have this TV for 10 years, very reliable everything worked until last week, the DVD no longer works. The TV is fine. Can anybody help me everything works except dvd😮
I need help with air innovations therm. Ac won’t go under 70
Thank you so much you rock!!!!!
I'm happy I was able to help!
Thanks, Dave! You really know your stuff!! I didn't even know how to open my thermostat cover until watching this video. After doing several resets, I was able to determine that it just wasn't working properly and needed to be repaired or replaced.
I'm so glad this has helped you with your issue!
Hey I need help bro I don't no what I did but the lock icon is on my stalpro p2 so now I'm at a set temp of 3c I for the life of me can't get it off,it only has the one button set is in the middle and low and high at the ends
Ifogot to say I head something about pushing the set button for 3sec and the ends at the same time for 10 sec
@@charlottemcneil5170 did you get it figured out? 3 Celsius is pretty cold.....
My ac keeps resetting to 85 after I used this method to unlock it, any suggestions to stop this?
Have you set the schedule to your temperatures? It sounds like the default schedule is setting your temperatures.
@@mechanicdave80 I reset it and then I put it on my desired temp, after a few hours it reset to 85. How do I fix this so that it stays on what I set it to?
I need help! I live in a rental unit and they have the heat locked at 70. It’s an older Braeburn. There is no reset button internally only externally but that one doesn’t seem to fix the problem. The only controls on the front are cool off heat, fan auto off, and up/down.
I'm sorry I didn't' respond months ago, but I'm not 100 percent that I know how to fix your issue. If you're paying for the utilities, then the landlord/rental agency should allow you full access to the thermostat.
I purchased an *Insignia TV/DVD* combo that won't play DVD's; spits out movie after I insert one. I've tried blowing air inside. I might take it apart with a screwdriver and find out what's really going on.
Does this work on a 100NC model?
Thanks so much! It wasn't locked, but it had stopped turning on the A/C and in South Georgia in the summer, that's BAD! I used the reset on the back and it worked. Just. Like. That. You're a champ!!
I'm glad it worked out for you!
BWAHAHAHAHAHA..... here's a little lesson to all of you that are so engulfed in the all of these Smart Technologies..... maybe at this point you start to realize that smart technology isn't your friend it just gives the government more power to control when you get to use your air conditioner when you get to drive your car and when you don't get to do these things..... the dangled a couple of dollars in front of you and you went for it like a cheap prostitute..... and now they tell you when you can use your air conditioner.....🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣..SHEEP!!!...SHEEP!!!!!
It worked!!! I love in a rental and the AC won't go lower than 68. I can get it to 66 now!!! You just changed ny life
can a bad wheel bearing cause brakes to lock up? replaced calipers, rotors, hoses and pads but my front passenger caliper keeps heating up can compressing the brakes when driving. ?I have to crack the bleeder open to release pressure in order to free up the wheel. any suggestions welcomed. lol
Theoretically yes, it can cause the brakes to apply. Have you lifted that tire off the ground and checked for movement (besides rotation)? Since the rotor is attached to the hub bearing and the caliper is attached to the spindle, they can move in separate directions, applying pressure to the brake pads.
@@mechanicdave80 fixed it today finally. Wheel bearing hub and a new tire did the trick. Still getting horrible MPG tho. After wheel bearing stoped the brake drag it went up 2, so it's averaging 9 ._. Trucks a 03 Ram 1500 5.7
@@TheCameraman1995 best o was getting with my 5.7 was 13mpg highway. But I always had a solid sides dump trailer attached
PLEASE HELP ! My landlord has an old heating only thermostat Lux ELV4e and nobody can figure out how to lower the heat ... It’s June here in New York and the heat is blasting only upstairs ... Downstairs baseboards are off ... I’m trying to be very patient with this thermostat but losing my shit ... This particular model has no heat shut off function ... So overwhelmed, can someone please advise 🥵
Is there a way to turn off the power to your heater?
I found this if you haven't already come across it. www.thermostatmanuals.com/lux/elv4/installation-and-operating-instructions/
@@mechanicdave80 Hey Dave, what a damn nightmare ... This older hse is set up real strange, no baseboards upstairs like downstairs, 3 different radiators up here have a super old Fedders imprint on the heavy duty metal covers ... Geez, I thought that company only manufactured ac’s back in the day ... After viewing a pic / specs online of model LUX turns out this company decided to place an actual blk switch heat on / off ... Sorry for rambling but flipping that switch off didn’t stop either turns out the radiator’s were blasting bc the boiler switch was on ... Slomin’s mechanic specifically told us a couple of mths while he was here addressing issues with the boiler to leave it in it’s on position ... He said flipping the boilers switch would cause condensation under it’s cover ... So all this time it was the boiler ... Now whenever someone wants to shower or wash dishes we’re making sure to flip on then off ... UNLIKE what the fuel companies mechanic said, what a shame ...Thank you so much for replying, the 129 degree heat coming out of my bedrooms radiator was starting to mess with my brain 👍
@@pumpkinpie7254 oh wow, that really does soundine a conundrum. So it sounds like you basically have the issue resolved?
@@mechanicdave80 Yep, so far so good ... Within about an hour of flipping the boiler switch the heat upstairs stopped cranking ... Still can’t believe the fuel oil mechanic ( who by the way my landlord has a contract with ) told us not to switch it off ... Thank you again .
Hi there! Does this work with a heated tile thermostat? It’s a PROTHERM and I can’t find anything helpful online, nor with the manual.
If it has some sort of reset button, it will work. I'll see what I can find on the Protherm thermostats.
Lock Deactivation 1. To deactivate the lock option, cut off the power supply of the thermostat at the electrical panel and wait at least 30 seconds. 2. Restore the power supply to the thermostat. The Lock icon will blink during a maximum of 5 minutes, indicating that you can deactivate the Lock option. 3. Simultaneously press down the + and - buttons for more than 10 seconds. The Lock icon will then be hidden indicating that the lock option is deactivated.
THANK YOU I have a different one but it still worked! It was locked for like 2 years!
Glad I could help!
Okay I don’t have a remote to this tv because it was hardly ever used. I accidentally pressed the menu button and now I can’t get to the HDMI,HDMI 2,etc part….any tips how?
Wow,I fixed it. 🤦🏽♀️😂
I found one today out on my round, seems to work but no remote anyone know if there is setting switch somewhere
A followup to clarify. Most of my experience was with Feit *edison base* mercury CFL bulbs. You know the ones with '10000 hour' guarantees that last < 1000 hours. By contrast, for the last year I've used their LED edison base bulbs with (so far) great results. None have burned out and I use them many hours a day. Still, I'll wait for recent experiences with flourescent replacement bulbs, perhaps they've improved their design/quality control .....
I have not had a problem with them.
That's great. Maybe I just ran into a bad batch. I wouldn't think the company would purposely produce faulty bulbs, but things happen sometimes.
I lost my remote during a move how do you get the DVD to play after it tells you to pick “play” or other choices?… I figured it out once, then got to write it down!🤦🏼♀️… I hardly ever watch TV. So it was a long while back…. Thank You!
Awesome!
This worked I turned my lowest temp from 75 to 45 degrees but my apartment still is 88 degrees
Is your thermostat reading the same tempurature as the room? If it's close to or the same temp on the thermostat and in the room you might have and issue with your air conditioner.
Do u know how to turn the brightness up on this tv ?
Not sure off the top of my head. I'll take a look when I get home this weekend.
Hi
Hello, what brought you to my channel?
Disappointed that you weren’t watching knucklehead on the dvd
Loved your comment on knucklehead keep up the good work.
Came here from your comment on the knucklehead movie I also find it very funny
So, would this work if the ac is locked at 75? Trying to at least get it to 73
This should unlock the temperature hold no matter the setting. Letting you choose what temperature you want. (I don't recommend doing this if you're in a corporate building, they tend to hate change)
Why its not visible ...why only audio and no video??????????
Watch the video pinned to the top of the comments. I found a few damaged solders.
Eh? What was the initial problem, what did you do, what was replaced/repaired? For Gods sake, give us a clue!
After digging into the circuit boards and looking over all the connections, I did find a few loose solders and repaired them. So I'm guessing it was jolted in shipping and these came loose. So a simple fix was the key.
This was the original problem video. ua-cam.com/video/JJgLL1RwxxI/v-deo.html
Thanks for the helpful video Good information in a no nonsense style. I think it's going to save me some money
Glad it helped you. How did your project go?

Wait...you can't just buy a new truck when the old one goes bad? 🤣
That would be nice, but where's the pride in just tossing away a perfectly good truck? Or boat for your matter. How old is Jacie Sails?
Love the Pyrate logo...
It took me about 20 minutes to do this project. So not a whole lotta time to complete. Just be careful not to damage the cooling fins when removing or installing the condenser fan assembly.
Nicely done Dave! Always enjoy your repair videos! Take care. 👍
Looking forward to it Dave!
Don’t use flex pipes
I totally agree Jack, but it's what I had to work with since my home is a rental. If I owned said home, I would have cut the main drain line coming from the wall then extended it so the P-Trap would align properly. This would eliminate the need for the flex line.
your music is awful!!!
Well, good thing it's not a music video then!
Same thing here for my 03 Ram. I’ve got my new radiator also. Actually had it in the box for about a year. Lol...And yep I need new hood struts also. Been using vise grips. I’ll be waiting for your radiator video, then I’ll do mine since your bearing hub video was on point. And I’ll replace the thermostat also! Take care. 👍
Sorry it's been taking so long. I'm skipping the thermostat since I've done it recently (check out my videos on that). Hope to get the radiator one to you soon!
Did you hear about the drummer who locked his keys in the car? Yeah, it took an hour for them to get the bass player out. 🤣🤣🤣
OK, where do you even begin? Three dumpsters isn't going to be enough I'm afraid...
Nope, it was (3) 40yd dumpsters and (2) 15yrd trailer loads...it took me 5 days to finish.
And they let these people vote and drive too. Makes me worried about our society... Pat
“We’ll call that ‘chocolate’...” 🤣🤣🤣
Those things come with a money back guarantee but you have to ship them back if you don't like them. Good luck rolling it back up!!! Hope you like it... Pat
Right!? It would be going back with some zipties and duct tape hold it together!
