Harman Accentra Pellet Stove Power Consumption
Previously I posted a video demonstrating the power consumption of a Castle Serenity pellet stove. We also have a 2006 Harman Accentra pellet insert, which I bought used and completely refurbished. I took it apart and pressure washed all the external cast iron pieces, replaced all seals, thoroughly cleaned the partially obstructed exhaust tubes, cleaned the heat exchangers, and replaced the combustion and distribution blowers.

How much electricity does a pellet stove use?
Переглядів 23 тис.2 роки тому
This is a three year old Castle Serenity pellet stove. It’s been flawless since new. I just cleaned it thoroughly (every 1-2 years, I waited too long and noticed more smoke). I think the electrical demands of most pellet stoves are very similar. The blowers, augers, sensors, etc., are often identical or very similar.

    I had great success with a spray of fungicide and let it dry and then a coat of limewash made with 1 part latex paint, 1 part water, 1 part hydrolyzed lime with a tablespoon of neem oil concentrate per gallon and a few of peppermint essential oil (to try and ward off future deer girdling). I think the many formulas work as long as the wound is allowed to breath and whatever is eventually trapped inside the healed area isn’t going to rot.

    Easy way to know blade rotation is to note which way the bolt turns to loosen. If you turn the bolt left to loosen then the cutting edge should be oriented to the left at the 12 o'clock position. So reverse threaded bolts indicate a clockwise blade rotation, where as standard threading indicates a counter clockwise rotation.

I've read it may be a bad belt -but the part list does not list a belt? called HF, no luck, has anyone else had this problem? broken/bad belt? if so, any ideas???lastly, the HF guy said it could be part #30, the switch assembly, said it could get stuck/clogged/dirty, may need wd40? any help or advice would be awesome and appreciated. The mower worked fine 2 weeks ago, now, the blade not spinning.... help, please?

    A damper does not necessarily have a spring. They slow the movement but some also help lift and those would most likely have a spring.

      Yep. I noticed the same thing so I made a video for my student(s). It made me realize many GIS users can click buttons but don’t understand much below the surface. Understanding first principles of tabular, vector, and raster data are key. Same for map projections and setting up Geodatabases so all the data is in the same projection. If not…everything crashes, or looks good “on the fly” but the spatial analysis tools crash. Many don’t understand why.

    What year is your 52i? I’m not the original owner but I found the paperwork and found out that he had purchased and had it installed in 2014. I’ve looked and probed to find the opening to the left side exhaust port but found that it doesn’t exist. Do you have the 52i-TC model? Maybe that’s the difference?

    • @jedi_mapperp4073
      @jedi_mapperp4073 10 місяців тому

      Mine was built in 2006. I'm surprised you don't have the exhaust outlet on the left side. It is the most more difficult to clean, but I don't see how airflow can be balanced without the symmetry of exhaust on left and right. Also, one exhaust outlet isn't large enough - unless the right side has been enlarged.

    • @jeffreycaban5107

      The older Harman Accentra uses the two square ports. The newer 52i got rid of that design. I had both Stoves and my older Accentra was blowing colder on the left side of the stove than the right. I spend an hour cleaning it out as the brush would not make than 90 degree bend initally. The posters use of the plumbers snake is pure genius.@@jedi_mapperp4073

    Can you folks think of any reason not to suck outside air from below? I have a propane inlet in my floor that will be available when I remove the propane heater and install the pellet stove. All the literature I've seen shows the inlet pipe going straight out the back. Since I have a hole in the floor already, I'd like to use it. Thanks for your ideas.

    • @jedi_mapperp4073
      @jedi_mapperp4073 Рік тому

      Does the hole in your floor go to a crawl space or a basement? If to a crawl space with outside air easily drawn under the house, then yes, it is fine. Just put a screen over the inlet so mice can’t enter. If you have a basement that is heated part of your home - it will not work because you’ll be using indoor air for combustion, which will draw cold outside air into your home around windows and doors, etc.

    Were in Tennessee and was on the fence between mini split and a pellet stove lol. I have a ecoflow delta pro with a 1800 watt array so powering wouldn't be an issue for power outages and grew up in Vermont with woodstoves and pellet stoves. This is a nice video and understanding for the power consumption. Obviously powering this pellet stove with a small powerstation is super easy but the price of pellets and cleaning compared to the 1 time purchase of the mini split is the only thing getting me. Lol The heat off the pellet stove is AMAZING and the flame is gorgeous and also amount of power the pellet stove uses ( basically my box fan running at 50 watts) is outstanding. All this has still got me on the fence. I guess the mini split just is more enticing for the summer for free cooling lol. What do you think?

    I bought my pellet stove from Lowes for 599. There's a 30% Federal incentives on the stove and everything else used during the construction, includes stove pipes. I bought the stove to save money and have alternative heat source during power outage. My solar battery system can run my stove for roughly 72 hours without sun. With Sun, indefinitely 😊 My pellet stove draws 325 watts during ignition. 65-75 watts after the igniter goes off.

    MY stove runs at 300 watts after the ignition which in a good down situation I would disconnect that and start the fire by alcohol gel right now I have for 100 amp hour lead acid batteries that are kept charged by my solar system in the yard which is only 200 amp panels. It will run my stove for four hours I want to go lithium ion and I don’t know what size if I have two lithium ion batteries that have 3500 W hours and my pellet stove require 7000 W hours for a 24 hour period does that mean that those batteries will run my stove for 24 hours? And if I increase my two panels to 600 or 800 watch I’m assuming I will have a better chance at running that pellet stove more than four hours a day in the winter time? I do also have a gas generator so I can fill-in I also have a woodstove to fill-in however I have not been able to determine on any of these UA-cam channels how much battery and solar I need to run the 300 Watt unit continuous?
