Does mold make you feel like you always have a lump in your throat or is that regular allergies?

I got mine wet and used a toothbrush. A little time consuming but the filter will last if you take care of it. Getting it wet didn't matter.

They have a chart, but these are tricky to use inside. Really only effective when it’s dry and in dry climates. Humid climates they are not very effective at cooling. Around 50%+ humidity the cooling drops off and fast. I don’t think this is a comfortable solution in a humid climate at all. Better off with a modest size window A/C or portable A/C which also removes moisture from the air.

I’m going to test my theory today with the hair. I’ll let you know how it goes

Mine has hair on it from the dogs shed. I want to keep it clean on a regular basis. Can I hose it off without taking it apart. Take the hose and spray from top to bottom at an angle. It’s not exposed to a large amount of dust

Here's a better idea. DON'T BUY ONE. I live in Sun City Arizona. And this thing is useless for the garage,. It's only good for already cooled down areas. What's the point in buying something to cool if it only works when it's in an already cool place? Just blows hot air on ya'. My $25.00 fan did the same thing. This is nothing more than a $200.00 fan. And no where to insert ice blocks if you wanted. Completely useless. Waste of money. Don't buy.

These are not for indoor use bcus of the water it creates moisture in the home which will eventually lead to mold. So I would reccomend you use these for outdoor use only. There's a commercial ad that also tells you not to use indoors.

Bought a reconditioned one for under $90 plus 10% Veteran discount, works great in patio when dry summer heat (like now) 110 deg plus..can also connect water hose direct to keep the water flow constant. Don't expect 70 deg temp, but 80-84 is pretty comfortable when 110-115 deg outside. Hell of a bargain!

This is true what you say about lawyers. In my city they call them ambulance chasers. They want straight forward cases because it's taken on contingency and of course there is clear direct evidence and not much to prove AKA, they likely won't have to go to trial. On the other hand, professional home inspectors can't be trusted all the way. This is for a number of reasons. One of them is they are used by realtors in other home inspections and there is a lot of bias out there. Their mold tests cannot always be trusted because there are multiple ways they can manipulate the air tests. One of the ways is the air test is by overloading the cassette that catches the spores or using a cassette leaving the tape on, or using a higher liters volume that will cause the spores to fall off. These modifications will be used in the indoor tests to trick. The outdoor test is the comparison by leaving that alone it will show nothing is wrong. The outdoor test is the control sample and it should have the same species of mold inside your house since air in your house is from the outside of your house. The count on a healthy house should show less than outside, but still show the mold spores. A higher count inside shows there was water damage and a mold spore found inside that is not outside shows you have a mold problem. If your mold test by a pro comes back that does not show the same species of mold indoors or no mold spores the test is bogus. This happened to me. They will try to convince the courts that DIY can be tampered but you can prove tampering on a professional test. Some ways you can prove it is by explaining the purpose of the outdoor control test and there is info online you can print out documents. Actually, a DIY petri dish is more accurate because it's sitting in a room for 1 hour allowing the spores to drop on the petri dish, whereas the pro air test is a moment in time. You can prove you did not tamper by filming the entire process with a camera. A pro test is not filmed there is no "witness" but the DIY can be proven reliable if you film the location and entire process, marking the petri dish. Proof that you did it correctly and honestly. You can also use an outdoor control test. However if you have symptoms of mold and even mold biomarkers found in a urine test or lab that matches one or more of the spores that is a smoking gun. Pictures of mold in the home, proof of recent water damage that was neglected.......

I wouldn't unscrew the nails that hold the pad in place unless I want to replace it. I would gently hose the removed unit (back and pad) from the INSIDE OUT till it cleans. Then let it air dry. completely. I hang a cheap prefiltered material on the back of my cooler to save money on Evaporative Cooler Pad replacement.

@0:55 - just tie/hang a $2 fibreglass furnace filter (still gives good airflow) to the back and you won't see that buildup on your cooler pad

I just purchased a 2 gallon Hessaire. I'm so disappointed. The first thing I read is that its recommended for outdoors. I thought this was an indoor unit. I love in an apartment and don't have a door I can leave open and the windows are up high. I will have to return this. UGH.
