I just bought myself an "LH2" version 4.6L Northstar engine that I plan on doing a twin GT28 turbo setup with a Holley terminator X fuel injection. That’s decent power to the rear wheels. I had one back in 1968 I bought new. It had the 400 CI My brother and I slowly built it into a gun street car. 4.30 gear. Headers. Mild Engle hydraulic cam. I think it was about .460 lift. A 780 Holley and Eldebrock aluminum intake. Did a lot of street racing with it. I wore out the Road Runners , GTX , Cobra Jet Mustangs with it. Several 427 Chevelles. In fairness the advantage I had was the 4.30 gears a 3500 stall and a set of 6” drag slicks. It was a very consistent 13.00 at 109 MPH in the 1/4 mile and in the late 1960’s that was fairly quick for a street car. Most of the cars I mentioned were high 13 second cars so it wasn’t really hard races for me. Car was solid and so dependable. Rebuilt the engine at 60,000 miles which was considered a lot of miles in those days. Rod and main bearings looked new so just honed the block new rings and bearings and a valve job and it just kept on going. It ran 13.00’s all the time but never once broke into the 12.90’s. Sold it to a friend who kept it for years. It was such a fun car. I never had access to a dyno but if I had to guess it was probably about what yours just dynoed . Have fun with it.

Had a non turbo 301 in my K code 79 T/A just to get to work and back when i was younger. Was the only running Pontiac engine i could find for cheap back then in the yunkyards in Indiana. This was around year 2000. Motor was out of the yard car they used and was awful looking under the valve cover but that thing ran perfectly. We never did kill it. @@midsouth2strokes185 The trick to getting aftermarket heads to fit the 301, is, nothing at all....they bolt on fine, I'm even using 301 head gaskets. The real issue is having to narrow an intake manifold to fit onto the heads because the 301 block is much narrower than a 326-455 Pontiac engine. I ended up cutting/narrowing an aftermarket aluminum intake manifold to fit. After that problem is solved, you just bolt parts to it like a regular Pontiac V8.

U have a nice car.. lots of work and time and love in the car obviously.... If you want horsepower by double. Build a LS....

@@CamaroKevin84 Thanks for the kind words. An LS will never, ever, ever, be placed in this car or any of my other Pontiacs. This engine is just a little R&D toy that I'm testing parts with.....wait until you see the other Pontiac V8s that'll be in between the fenders.....they'll make plenty of power.

I think you might be missing the whole point of it. Cheap and easy isn't the answer to everything.

Maybe I misunderstood the last thing u said about cheap and easy. Building my LS was not cheap and easy. I'm not buying no parts unless it comes from jegs or summit or is OEM. Maybe that crap on eBay is cheap but it's all junk. Unless it came from a reputable company. Building any motor is not cheap. Unless u want to run into problem after problem and more down the road

I would think he’s saying he wants Pontiac power for his Pontiac cars. Most serious Pontiac enthusiasts would rather push their Pontiac than power it with a Chevy.

I’d say the 265 was worse than the 301. Regardless this 301 sounds wicked. Close to 1 HP per CI at the wheels is impressive.
