Casio Synthesizers - Professional and Semi Pro - Visual History
You know, I take alot of flack for the Casio synthesizers so I thought it might be a good thing to explain my position. Here it is... Nostalgia, affordability and accessibility.
When I was a little kid. I didn't sit around dreaming of buying a Jupiter 8 or an OB-12. My dream was to buy a Casio PL5 with the barcode reader. I used to see it in the department store display case and dream about all the great music that I could make with it. My grandmother (R.I.P.) took notice and eventually bought me one for my birthday.
I've got to think that there are millions of people throughout the world just like me. I will be forever thankful to the Casio company for figuring out a way to make electronic instruments affordable to all of the poor dreamers out there.
As I grew older, I graduated to more expensive instruments made by the "pro" brands. Most of those instruments have died on me but my Casio's are still running just fine.
Here's to all the kids out there, throughout the world who are making their dreams happen on a Casio synthesizer. May your instrument serve you well.

Yamaha CE20 FM Synthesizer
Переглядів 3,2 тис.11 років тому
Three reasons why the CE20 is cool... It's a FM mono synth. (some poly, but meant for soloing) It was a complete flop... Yamaha marketed it to the consumer market before going big with the DX line of synths. It's the third FM synth that Yamaha produced. (GS1, GS2, CE20, CE25, DX1, DX7...) Can the arpeggiator speed be set very slow? In the video the speed is always fast.
Curious if your tone preset memory saves after a power cycle? Mine does not. And was thinking a ROM battery might have gone bad. Can’t find one on the board though. Thanks!
I've just seen some of the pricing on Reverb for the 2000. Are these people for real?
very usefull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All "Casiotone" keyboards are garbage!
Yes that is true. The point of the video is to make music in the way that you can afford to. Not everyone has several thousand dollars to spend on a synth.
Wow, those presets suck!
Hi There Have You Ever Done The Cool Vibes Harp Pluck And 2x4 Marimba
Hi, is it touch sensitive? and how much does a used one cost nowadays? if its in good condition
Not a legendary sampler, stop trying to inflate the price, idiot.

0:58 скажите пожалуйста как называется пресет ?

I just picked up a mint 405, it sounds and looks amazing 😎
Lucky
i actually just found one of these at my local good will in very nice shape for 15 bucks, which lead me here
Great stuff 👍
Why do they call this prophet 2000?! That’s weird! They use the year 2000
I bought one of these secondhand in about 1984 from a secondhand shop in Bedford High Street. I think it was about £30. I persuaded them to let me return it the next day as it sounded out of tune to me.
А это оказывается синтезатор группы кино
Кстати 5 пресет используется в "неизвестной музыке 2" 0:58
@@user-jy5cx5cs3h я тоже это услышал
Qual valor de um teclado desses atualmente?
I love the CZ1 and CZ 1000, for those who are curious, I posted some experiences that I did on mine!
Amazing keyboard skills, especially the first minute or so. Wow. Like WOW!
When you press the tone button on the top left what hz does it read mine is way out of tune.
Hi! Does the 405 have the same sounds as the 202?
Although alot of the original ct series have the same / similar sounds I don't believe that the 202 does. Someone else please chime in. It's been a while since I have owned a 202.
@@solidstatecollective thanks for your answer. I had a 202 and sold it but now I regret! I'm searching and I've found an affordable 405 and I'd like to have the same sounds as the 202. Let's see if someone can give some light on it.
Appreciate the demo. Really not compelling like the Prophet 5. Feels like a desperate attempt at DX7 sounds. Presets are awful.
Yes Jay, you are right on so many levels. Let's consider Sequential Circuits choice to make the front panel pink and teal and adjust our expectations accordingly :) the 80's were tough man...
Have found one here down in Uruguay. What a strange beast it is!!! Regards!!!!!
Cool, enjoy!!!
What happened to part 2?
Is there a sound similar to a music box?
Can you use the arpeggiator without a drumbeat playing? Thanks!
i would also love to know this!
My first keyboard my dad bought me like 30+ years ago wow! bring back the memory 😀
This is the best video ever!!! I like the direction a lot too!
does it have touch sensitivity?
3:58 that's a sound Isao Tomita would have loved.
I think the mount log sounds really interesting
I would agree with the first message said please do not record this with the camera next time because I agree because I would like to record this to an audio cassette
エフェクターぐらいかけやがれ。しょぼく聞こえる
What’s the actual purpose of the input jack on these?
I was wondering the same thing.
My Dad was kind enough to purchase a Casio HT700 for me when I was a kid. I loved it for many years. But I always wanted a Juno 6 or a Korg of some description. There is no harm in dreaming.
Sounds horrid. I had a Yamaha toy keyboard back then that sounded better.
I feel Like this is the sound thats on Feists - Let It Die album. great sounds
Hi Paul - that must be why everything I program on it sounds the same :)
1st keyboard I ever bought c1983 - it was sold as a synth but I soon discovered it was as much a synth as a Trebant is a racing car.
Listen to it. All the sounds from CZ-1. ua-cam.com/video/TMLh0kWJrJs/v-deo.html
more like a cheap home keyboard ythan a synth.
No, it's a fully programmable synth. Erasure for example used CZ-Synths in their early songs.
thank you for sharing. I don't like the strings, I'm not really impressed. may sound better with effects, but I prefair the 3000 5000.

That Volume knob..... I wanna touch it.
The self titled album Mad at the World from 1987 showcases three of these with 8 outputs each.
I've seen one of these before in a catolog back in the mid 1980s. Wish I had one especially with the built-in keyboard all in one unit.
Especially with the built-in am/fm stereo radio tuner and dual double cassette decks and two speakers. 🔊 🔊
Brings back memories from the 1980s. Awesome.
