    Too close to the yellow line for my liking. Best advice I ever got was to NOT hug the center line. Watch how many other riders and cars going the other way do the same.

    Guy in front braking through every corner, lay off brakes an use gearing an rpm, counter steering through turns. Start slow enough he doesn't need to brake through corners, then gradually increase speed to continue laying off brakes!

    Yeah well... the bike is performant enough but this is juist cruising corners. You got some torque but the heavy handling and most of all the ridiculous road clearance force you to corner like that. Nothing you can do... it's the limitations of that bike.

    I don't know Mike, I have an Ultra Classic and an "old man's bike " is what I call it. I also have an R6 and a 1400 Suzuki Intruder and an 83 Wing with a sidecar. The big bikes weigh more and aren't as easy to throw around but I ride lots of long trips and I sure do appreciate the road sofa, along with the CD player and the cruise control. I also appreciate the storage there. I don't understand why some guys think there is only one kind of motorcycle to ride and if you aren't on it there is something wrong with your testicle size or something. I want to ride every one that I see.

    LoL…why does everyone have to call this an "old man" bike or a Road Sofa….Just bought one myself. Been riding a cruiser last 12yrs and I can say this Wing handles 10times better than my Shadow Sabre and would leave it in the dust..LOL…it's a great machine and We anticipate(me and wife) having some great experiences on it just as this right here on the Dragon. I'm whipping thru curves faster than I ever have on my Sabre…and if 50 is old…I guess I'm old..LOL Great Vid Allen! and I'm keeping the Cruiser as well…I guess so I can feel young? LOL..Righhhhhht...

      I guess some people consider a goldwing an "old man's" bike,but I consider it to be an awesome barcalounger bike, but never could quite get either the heel toe shifter, or the reverse button feature on that bike, although I have considered getting a used goldwing as my next bike, so I can experience it for myself. :-)

    • @MemphisMike901
      @MemphisMike901 9 років тому

      renegadebiker24 There are times such as my driveway that has incline, the reverse is a MUST for backing bike in. As for heel/toe shifter...u either love it or hate it! Now that I'm use to it, I love it. Gonna have to hop over the Bridge from Memphis one day and meet up with you and ride sometime!

    • @renegadebiker24
      @renegadebiker24 9 років тому

      MemphisMike Yeah, i live on an incline too. Hmmm, yeah that is true about the heel toe shifter. I think if I get a goldwing as my next motorcycle, i might just stick with the standard clutch pedal.Cool, I would like that. Would you be coming for Bikes, Blues, and BBQ??? That is not far from my home.

      MemphisMike My dad used to ride GoldWings (1200 & 1500) back in the days, when he was around 35-45. Some years he had the 1200 and he had his 1500 for almost 6 years. So much for the "old man's bike". It just depends on your riding-style. Doesn't matter if you're young or old: When you're into long-distance roadtrips, a GoldWing definately has to be on the top 3 choices. PS: Put a rider on the Wing that know whats up and you go and humiliate some of these boys on their crotch rockets (aka sportbikes).

    Great vedio, I just back into riding and love my GW. Heck I like all bikes but cant afford them all. One thing I will not do is bad mouth a rider or his bike. May one day I'll get lucky and win the lotto. Remember the cagers dont care about us let alone watch for us. I'll end with, live to ride, love the ride, ride safe, wear your helmet, safety gear, but most of all enjoy the ride, watch your 360 for cagers.

    One of the nicer relaxing videos of the Tail of the Dragon, especially if one wants to show a video to someone who hasn't been there before. Quite enjoyable not seeing the riders crossing yellow lines at every opportunity. I do, however, have to agree with ZX6Rider as to age and Goldwings... I'm 50 and not even close to giving up my ZX6R-636 for a touring bike. (Although I quite enjoy a leisurely ride on my wife's Burgman 650 "scooter" from time to time.) There are many places in the area where it's nice to sit in a relaxed position and take in the scenery... IMHO, the Dragon isn't one of them, it's the road and only the road that is the attraction.. :)

      Sloppy riding? lol I didn't see 'competition' in the video title. They were scraping the limits of that bike around those corners and staying within their own lane. I hope you know to keep that attitude strictly within the safety and anonymity of the internet and know not to run your condescending mouth like that in public, you know, before you get hurt...

      I stopped watching it early when he was almost across the yellow line in that curve..good thing he didn't meet anyone on the other side...and all that down shifting??? Not needed...I ride an 07 wing..had one since 82...been riding since i was 16 and I'm 59 now...Keep your training wheels on pal...come ride the mountain roads of East Ky and Wv...then you can ride the dragon with style..at least you'll look like you know what you're doing.. "lol" be safe until you get your wings!!

    Looks like a nice relaxing ride through the woods, about what you would expect from a road sofa. Nothing against the bike, ride what you love but I mean put the title as "Cruising Deals Gaps" or something, not something misleading. And a side note: using your age as a reason to have a Goldwing is pretty lame, my father still refuses to give up his sport bike in his late 50s!

    • @BenWorrell
      @BenWorrell 10 років тому

      Nothing misleading about the title - check it again. Let's see your old man carry a passenger plus gear for both him and his passenger on a 2 week road trip covering 500 miles a day...... Not going to happen.

      @zx6rider263 10 років тому

      My old man, actually rides a sport bike. He has about as much interest in road sofas even at his age, as I do. Give us a couple of road sofas though and we'll put those numbers to shame, I guarentee it.

      +ZX6Rider Big talk. "Give" you a "road sofa" with 110 hp, HUGE torque, 960 pounds plus rider(s) PLURAL, plus gear in THREE storage areas and YOU'LL show us something? Riiiiiiighhhhtttt. sheesh. Meanwhile, you're riding a bike that has you bent into a fetal position, gives your passenger hemorrhoids (IF someone can get on that thing), you have to wear a backpack to carry a lunch, and you have to mail your luggage ahead of you on a three day trip. Give it up...we aren't all riding for the same reasons, so don't insult others about their riding styles or choices unless you're ready to take the same crap back. Have a nice day, now, and keep both wheels on the pavement.

    Come on! There is something else going on. If they simply wanted random samples of drivers they should have gone to a mall parking lot. Since when do we allow a Private company to do a road block with privately paid uniformed police officers? I would suggest maybe they are also testing for the road blocks to move in the private sector, maybe they would get paid per offense then they ship them off to their private jail. Might as well check credit to see if they defaulted on credit and lock them up for that.

I've seen another woman interviewed who felt outraged at being flagged off the road, on her busy lunch hour & detained to be asked to "voluntarily" participate in such a way that she felt complelled to choose the breathylizer just so she could leave ASAP.

    No reason not to brake in turns unless you don't have the skill to properly trail brake. The MSF teaches you not to do so because most riders aren't going to benefit by doing so and it can cause more trouble than benefit. On most streets, you can simply brake before the turn and be fine. On tighter roads and especially with reducing radius curves, trail braking can serve to settle the bike and allow higher entry speeds. Nice ride!

      +DrJekyl30 If the passenger is experienced you actually can only benefit from it as grip on rear wheel increases. Not that it is needed on a bike like this but still :)
