We Make Machines
United States
Приєднався 23 вер 2013
We have been making things since before memories could be formed. Our older siblings introduced us to projects like gratuitous vacuum cleaner disassembly and reassembly, balsa airplanes, remote control cars and planes, and shop. Turns out making things turns into an engineering career when you are old like us. We are here to have a good time and make machines that have never been seen before... aspirationally, somewhat useful machines. And hopefully we can inspire a few young to-be engineers the same way our older siblings inspired us. More engineers = better.
We Built the World's Fastest Frisbee Launcher (Regulation Size)
We have been playing disc golf and ultimate frisbee for 15 years, but practice never worked for us. So we put our engineering brains on the problem, designed, and built this full blown disc launching robot. It took way longer than expected, but better late than never... I guess. We designed and built it to throw any flying disc at any angle or speed. Enjoy!

We Built the World's Fastest Frisbee Launcher (Mini)

We have been playing disc golf for 15 years, but practice never worked for us. So we put our engineering brains on the problem, designed, and built this mini launching prototype. It is a beast... and was not easy to get over the finish line. We hope you enjoy. Next up is the real deal, a full blown disc slinging robot. I'm no expert with frisbees (or anything, really), but isn't it crucial for a long distance throw to give that frisbee a good spin? I mean, your machine obviously gives those frisbee lots of spins, but do the discs themselves spin sufficiently after launch? Maybe slap another BLDC motor on the holder (not sure if sliprings can handle those RPMs) and use that to spin the disc before launching it?
Ditch the PER…..it’s maddening! 😳
Awesome work! Please learn the difference between further and farther. Especially as engineers, we should strive to be excellent in all aspects of academia. Keep up the good work.
Launch a BOOMERANG! And catch it, robotically
If you want to go international, please use the metric system
That was awesome!!! I could feel you and your friends excitement. Gave me goosebumps!!!!! Awesome stuff!!!
I'm sure your mum's very proud of whatever you think you achieved 🙄
Ok 1393 ft. So the distance normally dictates what would it be? We should standardize the unit of measurement of length in meters at least we can understand each other immediately
may be try longer swing arm will get much longer distance! i guest? good job.
1.393 feet sounds like a lot indeed. Greetings form from Europe 👋
Great work. I really enjoyed that video. Respekt to you all.
@3:24... this thing called WHAT?! what the hell is Sentrippedal force?! (centrifugal)
So...the human frisbee record was aided by near tornadic level tailwinds?
Yes. Tropical storm, but yes.
@@We.Make.Machines We've been having a 'few' tornados in the midwest as of late. Think I'll take a ride with a storm chaser and smash the record. 🤣
Build it big, so that you can throw some satellite into space 😂😂😂
Esiste già
It already exists
How ridiculous must try and beat this wow I'm impressed
Make it a piece of steel.
“Even though I have been playing for over 15 years I’m still terrible.” Man I feel that.
Finally we found out where the UFO's came from!!!!!!!
I'm blown away.. never thought a human would come close to a machine. 1100 bested by only 1400 robot. This says alot about professionals or very little about the machine.
Using the machine near powerlines is probably not the best place to do this. What is you hit a line at high speed?
log tech is not to be underestimated.
Diese Maschine erinnert mich an den Film Kontakt
Mom.... Mom.... Mama...mommy....mom... Somebody shut that guy up.
I think the distance could be way more if your machine would give the disks spin so they rotate and through that glide better through the air 🤔
Stuff made here is a turd burgler
This is nuts…… 🥜
I loved this video, breaking records is what guys do.
A hollow ring filled with balance beads matching the weight of the disc would automatically balance the machine without any moving parts
omg as if imagine dragons wasnt bad enough yall got dollar store imagine dragons for the background music. yeesh.
3:20 Isn't centripetal force the one that pulls things towards the centre of rotation (i.e. "in")? The thing that pushes things OUT is momentum, sometimes termed centrifugal force. Centripetal force is "a force that acts on a body moving in a circular path and is directed towards the centre around which the body is moving." At least that's what they told me in my high school science classes.
You can do one successful launch and call that scientific! I want to see at least 5! Where’s the variance?
That's 424.6 meters for anyone not in Liberia, Myanmar or the US
Where is it, where is it, where is it, where was it? But nobody ever ask how is it. 🥺
Now to use it in a 40mph wind 🤠
1st attempt failure: Well lets just see if that was a one off 😂😂
These guys and stuff made here are going to have beef
1393 ft...wtf is that !! When will you guys learn to use the proper units...? (424,5 m)
Сейчас бы машины мировые рекорды ставили
Your info on discs and throws is outdated.
Talk about a tombstone 🪦
Great video great project! You guys deserve all the success!!
I love the video! I would love you even more if you were so kind to include metric units, even just as text when you say it. Thanks!
Don't throw your counterweigh. Make it horseshoe shaped and retract it to the center.
What is that in meters?
425m
@HoustonJones I dare you!!
learn how to say centrifugal !!!
Congrats on your success! Great video and project. Point of grammar: Use "Farther" when you're talking about distance and "Further" for everything else. P.S. I admire your sense of humor! I subscribed immediately.
Big shade for that laptop shot of @Stuffmadehere LOL
Just in case there is some hidden fatigue in any of the spinny bits, make yourselves a bunker / ballistic cover. Your internal organs will thank you some day.
Imagine if you used metric. Just imagine that lol
