Alright | Rain World MAP | Part 24
HEY LOOK I FINALLY DID SOMETHING AGAIN!
In all seriousness I've been unfortunately very busy getting my behind kicked by coursework, so it's taken a lot longer than I would've liked for me to upload something. I have a few ideas to hopefully get me to upload more often, but we'll see.
Anyway this can be taken as spoilers for a certain game if you squint, but don't worry about it! This is a part for a Jolly Co-op MAP, and therefore is heavily based on a play session of Rain World. Specifically, where we reached the void sea and got to be heavily dramatic about having to part ways, only for the game to flipping crash on us right at the end. We ended up headcanoning that they somehow escaped ascension without Traveler (the Riv) becoming an echo and went to Outer Expanse instead lol
I made up most of the designs for the slugcats at the end on the spot (all based on certain characters from a game because yeah), but one (Defender) is heavily based on a friend of mine's design of a scug-ified version of that character, so crediting him down below!

The weird mix of [events / characters] that exist in game and many that just don’t in this is a bit disorienting. What was the reasoning behind that? And with the ordering of the scenes. It just seems… really random and kinda incoherent. Not really telling a story here.
This was a MAP, or a multi-animator project. Basically a buch of people made little animations with little tono direction, so i makes sense why its a bit disorienting!
@@dawnstarpro3620 usually they have some kind of organisation with intent to tell a story, making one with no direction seems like setting it up for failure to me

Coming from the Hollow Knight fandom with exactly 3 MAPs into the Rain World fandom that makes a new MAP like twice a month was... Certainly interesting Edit: 4 now but still-
I think Rain World has the advantage of really simple designs for the main creatures (slugcats), whereas with Hollow Knight you get intimidated by how to draw cloaks and armor (calling myself out here LMAO)

YEAAAH!! We really are thriving here and I'm all for it ^^
Man I just love these kinds of MAPs so much. A lot of the super popular ones are completely frame by frame or well tweened and beautifully shaded with (no offense) kinda generic art styles sometimes, where consistency is prioritized over variety and there are like 6,000 rules to follow. It's really nice to see all these different skill levels and watching the parts of rising animators who are just trying to get involved. Good job to everyone who participated, this MAP is so cool and I can't wait to see more MAPs like this!
Hehehehehe, rules are for sticks-in-the-mud /silly I actually have an idea for another MAP, this one would have a collaborative script-as in, everyone works together to put the script in place so that, while it's all cohesive and everything gets a good amount of screentime, each person working on the MAP has helped put together the story the MAP would follow. That one might take a bit longer than this one did, though ^^
