That’s a good tip about the trackpad! I didn’t come across the same issue as you but will try to help! Is the PS5 in sleep mode or completely off? And if you turn the PS5 on normally and then connect using Chiaki does that work or is there an issue there too?

@ I played around more last night and had good success mapping the right trackpad to mouse region with click as Left click and the touch as T. Gives you swipe gestures like for ghost of Tsushima! It’s in sleep mode with a standby state on chiaki and when I click to connect it just gets stuck on “waiting for console” and doesn’t wake up the PlayStation. If I turn it on then it connects no problems

@@Oakyplays I did a bit more googling and I found someone else who said that their home network liked to switch the IP addresses of their devices. So they had to delete the PS5 from Chiaki and re-add it. If that works they said to fix it permanently they had to force a static IP for the PS5

Thanks I'm really glad you liked the video! 😄 The mic wasn't something that I had tested but I've gone back now and tried it out. I don't know many other people who have a PS5 so I couldn't try party chat, but I do think I got the mic working. In the Chiaki settings under controller mapping there is a button for "MIC" which I mapped to pressing in the left trackpad. Then when I went back into the remote play and pressed this it would mute and unmute the mic (there's a little icon showing it happening). Next I went into the console settings and there's a setting for adjusting microphone level, in there you can see your mic volume as you talk. When I unmuted the mic and just talked at the Steam Deck the bar would fill up! So I think it will work using the Steam Deck microphone through remote play 👍 Hope that's helpful!

Hi! Nothing too crazy, you can feel it a little bit at first but then I find you just get used to it after a few minutes. At the end of the video in the Space Marine 2 footage I dodged a few of the sniper shots at pretty much the perfect time which I think wouldn’t be possible if the input lag was awful. Hope that helps!

I didn’t try DX11, when you say smoother do you mean better framerate?

@@tomfinler Yes, apparently it should have an uplift in the framerate. I saw another video suggesting the same. Maybe you should do a comparison run with DX11? :)

Hi again, 99% GPU usage isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You want to be getting full use of your GPU in a game like this. If it was 99% on a smaller scale game that might be something to think twice about but as long as your frame rate is okay I wouldn’t worry about high GPU usage

@ playing the Witcher 3 and it looks crazy good! I want to play ghost runner 2 but it failed to work via the heroic launcher thing, starting campaign leads to a white screen with the audio. Oh well just messing around with games

Yeah I think there is just so much going on at one time, there’s absolutely loads of things in one area and on the map and it all needs processing power I guess!

@ I’d wager the game is really hammering single thread performance. I very seldom see my CPU cores (Ryzen 5 7640HS) go much above 2.3 GHZ with power settings on Scrooge mode. But BG3 routinely send a core into the 4 GHz zone, which eats a disproportionate amount of power.

Thats cool, I’ve not played it on PlayStation but especially with the change between fist fights and speeding through the city with the bat mobile I’d have thought it would be noticeable that it’s at 30!

Hi Dave! I have always been curious about some of the more powerful handhelds (Rog Ally X, Lenovo Legion Go) but it’s felt like they can be a bit troublesome because of windows. They’re also pretty pricey 🤣 How are you enjoying yours? I’m pretty interested in the rumours of other handheld models that might start coming with SteamOS as standard because that would be a big plus for me

Everything I did for the video was with mods off, I’ve actually not really done much modding on Steam Deck so far

Think I understand a bit better now - do you mean the toggle on the launcher? That was on for me by default and I left it on, but I didn’t then change or do anything else with mods, does that help?

I’d heard that it was really hard to find genuine new ps3 controllers so that’s why I went second hand. It does have a great library!

Does the game launch if you just have a standard version of proton selected instead?

@@tomfinler No, it doesn't launch with any of the compatibility options applied on my side. I tried Proton 9.0-3, 8.0-5, 7.0-6, Ge-Proton9-19, Ge-Proton9-20 and DAI-Proton-1.0.4 but they all don't launch

I’ve tried doing a bit of research and it looks like a lot of people have the same problem with Inquisition using the Heroic Launcher. There’s been suggestions that a program called “Bottles” might help. I’ve never heard of it before so can’t say if it definitely will, but thought I’d pass on what I’ve found!

Hi! I think it’s best to get a second hand official controller if you can find one! Just watch out for fakes. I did a very specific search on eBay when I found mine, something like “official PlayStation 3 DualShock controller” if I am remembering right

I think with latest Firmware ps4 and ps5 will work. I could test, but I am too lazy.
