Maybe get a bus to warnbro stn and bus 568 to spud shed in baldivis perth Australia
What an interesting thing to pop up in my recommendations! Very cool to see this all these years later. They were pretty damn accurate with that animation!
Goodbye wellington street bus station :(. Mustve been a majour bus interchange in perth.
When I'm in perth Australia and get the train from perth domestic terminal to perth city centre and down to warnbro stn and bus 568 to spud shed in baldivis
That was a piece of history they never should’ve taken down the new screen at Yagan square is overpriced distracting and ugly
Yes
How do you suggest they build the Busport?
@@RXTransit it wasn’t in the location of the bus port and the bus port could still exist as long as the city link tunnels were there
The old structure was uglier.
@@rileythedude Personally disagree Riley. The screen at Yagan is nice, and versatile too. Reminds me of Times Square if it was toned down. Wellington Street is an example of a structure that had outgrown it's usefulness. Things are much better now.
The most useless cabinet minister in WA history, Troy Buswell. Bring in breath-testing for politicians in their workplace, the WA parliament.
To think that the Gordon Stephenson (card carrying member of the Communist Party of Glasgow, banned from US entry) loving Charles Court stopped the Freo train, and was about to rip up the Armadale train-line as well. Metronet will be brilliant for greater Perth region.
Dicen jzhicHycdnxhgdixudjucsjdhzhxshu d.
ah mr seat sniffer himself.
So outdated even before it opened!!!
Still a hideous place to live, especially that intense heat. YUK!
Bruh
They actually got them accurately like the animation! (but not the screen part)
👏🏽👏🏽🤛🏽☝️
I think all transperth trains to Fremantle should run express service underground tunnels
Could you please please upgrade the buses so that I can pay with my phone or card with tap and go. So frustrating when I lose my Transperth card and don't have any cash on me. To not take card is pretty old school. Next step has to be electric buses too surely?
Three entries? There is only 2. King Square and Yagan Square
The entrances are called King Street, Queen Street & Yagan Square
One thing I love about Perth Station is that the platforms say what lines depart from each platform, compared to Melbourne where in the big city stations such as flinders street station, where if you don't know what lines depart from what platform then you usually have to spend 5-10 minutes trying to figure out what platforms go to where
Perth. Such a hideous place :(
Have you seen Sydney? 🤣
No
Where's the bridge now?
HOW DO YOU GET FROM THE RAILWAYS TO THE BUSES?????????????? HOW DO YOU GET FROM THE BUSES TO THE RAILWAYS?????????? Dumb planning in this dumb city. Never any consideration given to such a thing called population growth... But maybe they are not so stupid and with all of its dreadful planning, it will work to lessen the numbers of people wanting to live here....
Its not World Class, if the designers did not factor in a walkway between the underground railway station and the underground bus station (like they do in other cities or countries). "Hey i got an idea, lets make all the commuters go back up to street level in to the weather, then have to go back down again to the trains, Screw the disabled hey !!".
How is that possible physically?
@@Coolsomeone234 Is what possible ?, Underground walkways ? Sure it is. If Perth can build an underground Railway from Esplanade bus Station to meet up with the Joondalup line, they can build a walkway between Perth City Station and the new Bus port next door. But of Course, Perth.... ua-cam.com/video/pPSqyFziiqs/v-deo.html
Brian I have spoken to an architect for this project personally and it is not possible the train tunnels for the Joondalup line and Fremantle line would collapse
@@rileythedude Must be the usual "Australian" way of doing things then, because other underground metro systems have no problems doing it, or its just the Sandy environment of Perth.
Absolute horrid planning & archeticure. Perth population is so small & yet WA has an inferiority complex turning into everything like perth is a world class mega city. So wrong. A really horrible city on so many levels. I am so glad. I repeat, so glad that I do not live in such a bigoted state. WA is yuk!!
i rode a train in i!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now we have Yagan Square.
wtf
Reece Waldock's statement "This is the first bus station of it's kind in Australia" umm NOPE!!! Sorry to tell you but here in Brisbane Queensland we have TWO underground bus stations, Queens Street mail and king George square bus stations Never trust a government official
Paul Williams That is true, however these claims are related to the dynamic stand allocation system.
@@georgesteel6108First in Australia, but they have had it around the world for at least 10 years. Poland, and Denmark to name several. Its a way of having fewer stands for more buses.
may i use this clip?
at least extend it to fits Gerald st
So your saying the people who catch buses from this nee underground dont have a tunnel access joining the underground trains? They still have to walk outside in the heat or wet? How is that considered user friendly. Alot of people still catch buses as much as trains in this city as it isnt cheap driving so you think it would appropriate building a more access friendly tunnel for those who work hard. All the gov care about is tourism and making perth look flashing instead of what the peopleneed..this is a jokeeeeee!!!!
Yep! I work in the city. Catch the bus to the Busport. It is so aggravating that they did not even consider to create a tunnel to link the bus port with Perth Underground or Raine Square even. The bus port is underground but that's about it. The buses go underground but the commuters have to go in and come out from street level. Which as Leanne says it will mean having to battle the weather, but not only that, it means getting stuck at the traffic lights for at least 5 minutes while waiting to cross over into the city. And going the other way, if you're trying to make it to your bus with only minutes to spare before its due to depart, good luck!!! If you could walk underground then you could bypass the traffic and the weather and have a better chance of making it to your bus on time when you're running late. But hey, that's Perth for you. Is it a budget issue or planning issue? Or are there physical obstacles that prevented the link up? Linking the rail to bus what have been a smart idea. I mean what if the trains are on strike or a line is closed and busses are needed to fill the service(s)? It would have been easier to direct commuters through the underground from the train station to the bus port. If anyone has ever been to Singapore you would have no doubt traversed parts of the city in the underground tunnels. They are so awesome.
I dont think ppl use buses that much compared to the money to construct this design... It would be better to run more buses on weekend... Just this is mu opinion.. No offense...
I agree
The busport is underground, not above ground... this video is pretty pointless
+Stefan Hofmann Typical, entrance is ABOVE GROUND. So it does have a point.
Sorry - but you are wrong about the Escalators. The old Perth underground escalators are OTIS and the new ones are Schindler. The Perth Busport Escalators are Thyssen-Krupp.
Looks good but I see the escalators are the same as the Perth underground ones which get really busy. No forwards thinking as per usual.
+Billy B It's all Barnett's fault. Its a disgrace. Bring in Labor and McGowan to fix this state!
meanwhile Greyhound.....
?
Will there be pa announcements regarding the bus stands - doesn't seem very friendly for vision impaired people to me. And as someone else posted, a tunnel to the station would have made sense to me.
there is a tunnel to the station
No there isn't a tunnel. Access to the bus lounge area is from street level only. There is no underground link to Perth Underground or to the city. The two tunnels are only for the buses. There are no tunnels for pedestrians. Did you actually watch the video? LOL
9 years on and it all works fine. There’s TransPerth staff there all the time actively assisting people, and they’re actually very attentive if you look lost or overwhelmed, elderly or just need assistance they approach you. A lot of them can tell you which bus to get on just by you naming the suburb and street you need to get to
PS and have bigger/faster lifts for disabled and prams...the ones in the newish Perth train stations are terrible.
Looks great...Hopefully they use modem escalators like they do at BHP (when not used for a certain period of time they slow right down until someone comes) so they do not break down as often as the current escalators used by Transperth.
I think this system will be very unfriendly for users with walking and reading disabilities. Also, why isn't there a direct underground link to the Perth train stations? I would have thought underground access to the Perth Underground and old Perth stations would be considered a basic requirement.
I agree with everything you wrote. In addition to be a disadvantage to people with a disability that makes reading difficult, it could also be confusing for tourists and new immigrants. (From memory) I believe that the video showed one lift/ elevator and lots of escalators. What about a ramp that connects the ground level to the underground terminal? The lift will be heavily used with prams and wheelchairs, there should be an alternative. I personally don't like escalators as I once had a near miss while traveling down a set.

***** Dynamic bus stations have been successfully used all over the world and they're great. There's really nothing to worry about. Connecting to Underground would be great though.
+Jennifer Claire Can you imagine how efficient it'd be though? Those with walking/reading disabilities are a tiny minority....It's definitely a net gain. Pure commonsense
+Jennifer Claire Tunnelling under buildings and roads isn't simply digging holes in the ground. There are considerable structural and civil factors to take into consideration. Will the depth at which we tunnel support the compressive stresses of the buildings above? Could we allow constant traffic to drive over the site? Perhaps the engineers proposed blocking William/Wellington and it was logistically difficult given other projects going on at the time such as the Elizabeth Quay. Maybe we would have had more trouble building it than what we would gain having it. Maybe they've left it for another time, who knows? Elevators were shown in the video. Not sure how that would be unfriendly. As for getting on the bus, the suspension of the bus under the entrance lowers with a ramp. This is present on most buses. In terms of reading disabilities, it's pure speculation to suggest whether or not intercoms or an induction loop would be present. It's fairly simple to implement and may not necessitate attention in a 4 minute video.
Very cool!
What about all the carbon monoxide and fumes from buses? Electrified trains are one thing, but diesel and gas powered vehicles at peak hour in an enclosed space quite another.
+ekydami I'd hope they would have a ventilation system and safety mesurs if theirs a fire.
8 years later, and the Busport is the safest thing on earth
would also like to see the other train lines sunk like the Armadale train and the Midland train... it should all be underground like the London Underground... its quite disappointing really...
skyknight1231 lol
Any chance we can have an in-depth fly through of the whole project (I.e. Yagan square, from the two entries into the new busport and then inside the busport and all other aspects of the Perth City link)? Would be great to have a bigger picture.
Go take a look at what Thessaloniki in 'basket case' Greece did during and after the crippling financial crisis over the past few yrs. The same time when our Premier put a hold on our infrastructure. But in Greece, miles of underground right out to the airport as well as on other lines. A dozen or more new underground stations. We can't even put a tram out to Mirrabooka or get a train to the Zoo for God's sake!
In percentages, how much of the workforce is local, how many apprentices if any, and how many 457s ? Looking at the video, doesn't look like many locals.
On the downside, Mciver station is a scary place to go to at night :( Please rectify!
Yes!!! :)
Why didn't they put travellators in? It would reduce the transfer time innumerably.
