Love the live action interpretation of TWD, even if it did stumble in some parts, but damn, an R-rated, comic-accurate, animated series akin to Invincible (coincidentally, another series written by Robert Kirkman) would be fucking amazing.

The film might have been short, but you told more in it than some feature films. War veterans were always told to just move on; put their pasts behind them as best they could, but we all know that war changes people, whether they want to or not. I'm glad PTSD is officially recognised as something that's both treatable and actual damage to the psyche. It doesn't make you a coward, it just means you can come back damaged, just the same as if you lost a limb, or still had shrapnel in you that's unsafe to remove

@@DanielKanemoto Oh cool! The animation is so convincing and fitting to the style and texture of the entire franchise! Reason why I was asking because I'm soon to start production on an indie animated horror short and using procreate to animate and comp, with some after effects, and editing it together on premiere pro and aiming to really embrace a style similar to this, that rough, crunchy, analog feel, so this tribute video you made I take great inspiration from as a reference. Thanks for giving me insight on this, and stay groovy!

Mixed response. First the Pros: the incredible amount of research that went into getting the aircraft and landscape accurate was obvious... even the font used for the credits was period for the era, bravo! This was a thoroughly enjoyable vid to watch, and was a nice tribute to the men of The Greatest Generation (as the WWII era was known). Now the Cons: the false equivalency of Midwest America being the same as Nazi Germany, the "There but for the grace of God go I" mentality. My uncle (long since passed... and I'm almost 60) flew on B-17s over Europe. He said it was terrifying, especially watching bombers next to him being torn out of the sky by flak bursts and Luftwaffe fighters They usually couldn't see the targets, flying above 20-30,000 feet, but they knew they were cities they were bombing, cities with schools, hospitals, etc., but also with Wehrmacht training facilities, factories churning out tanks and U-boats, Gestapo torture sites, Nazi propaganda facilities and such. And the overall mentality of our servicemen at THAT time was, "If THIS is what it takes to make that Nazi a-hole Hitler surrender... the guy CAUSING all this hate and misery for millions... then so be it." Once we discovered the true extent of the Holocaust in 1945, this mentality was even MORE justified... Gen Eisenhower even rotated American units (AND German civilians!) though the disgusting scenes of Dachau... where they found lampshades made from human flesh... to reveal to every average person the true extent of the brutal, heartless depravity of the Nazis. Less important was the narrator whining, "HOW was I supposed to feel, "dad"? AM I supposed to feel? WHY didn't you TELL me what it was like?" If the son and the dad were both in the same service (both pilots, or both infantry), this question might've made sense. But for a heavy bomber pilot to accuse a guy who fought in the trenches of WWI (poison gas, rats, etc.) that he "didn't tell him what it was like" really made no sense. Other than yes, you'll lose a few friends... something every kid whose ever enlisted knows before going in from all the war movies, even then. Finally, the co-pilot's full beard (along with the dad's goatee in the trenches of WWI) was cringe-worthy. Whoever did the impressive amount of research on the B-24 Liberator must've somehow not looked at a single photo of the brave young men FLYING those B-24s, because except for the random Clark Gable mustache, NO facial hair was ever worn (please google it yourself if you need to). I saw the name Skywalker in the credits, so I assume Disney had a say in their look, but there is a line between honoring an era and misrepresenting them. All I ask is that for me, and every other veteran, historian, and/or relative of someone who served in WWII, please show "our boys" as they really were, rather than making them look like hipster X-wing pilots. Thanks, and MTFBWY :)
