Knipex pliers, and wera screwdrivers..... Proto snap ring pliers😂 HF hammers😂 beat dem hoes and trade them in.... Walmart sells USA made striker pry bars. Insider ratchet is the shit....

    I went 12 years only buying the bare minimum snap on. Over the past 2 years I went absolutely crazy replacing old and ugly stuff with snap on. I enjoy my tools more now. I look forward to walking to my cart and having nice, clean tools that feel nice in the hand. What’s even nicer is I have snap on tools that were still functional but looked well worn. My rep offered to warranty things out every so often. I just got hammer sets in foam and he swapped out my 10 year old soft tip dead blow for spending money. My hammer drawer is about to bet bougie as F with all the HI-Viz foam.

    Very good! Do you have a video on the diagnostic tester you use? One preferable that can do Idle Air relearns. I have been in the market for the best aftermarket one for GMs used by a home mechanic. I found something that a mechanic LOVES but forgot the name. Don’t worry about sounding like a commercial. Most people watching are looking to you to do their own work.

    Only thing that I think probably should be Snap On are the flare nut wrenches. That’s one area where cutting corners is going to be costly. Outside of that, yeah, I agree. Oh and the Gearwrench 90t compact head 3/8 ratchet is hard to beat. Wish they made an 11” version. Don’t save it, invest it. s&p 500 index fund. You’re right about using the brain, there’s plenty of tools though that are just going to be less efficient.

    This is incredibly poor advice. A "Harmonic Balancer" is a *three* (3) piece device, consisting of the outer ring for a drive belt(s), a layer of vulcanized high durometer rubber compound, then the inner part that is the hub interface, usually keyed and/or splined or tapered to fit to the crankshaft. Applying an axial force in this manner could cause separation of the components later. Catastrophic damage can occur, causing major engine damage, leaving you stranded. When a drive belt spontaneously fails- it will wrap around wire harnesses, sensors. The water pump stops. Power steering, alternator output. If you make it back home- your battery is spanked and the head is warped🤑 Go *_rent_* the appropriate puller for your vehicle from your *FLAPS.* (Friendly Local Automotive Parts Store)

    • @Bluecollarmechanics

      The whole video was about breaking the bolt loose. The ratchet straps just hold it in place. To remove the balancer I OWN the special tool sir.

      I remember when UA-cam was the spot for someone like a DIY-er to pick up tricks and to help people. Now it’s more of everyone making their videos look perfect with the special tool they ordered and waited 2 weeks for. BUT they don’t put that in the video. Yeah having the perfect tools is great and ideal. But that doesn’t mean it’s always practical. And that’s why I always say YOUR BRAIN IS YOUR BEST TOOL. To over come obstacles without the special tools is what makes someone great. Just my opinion. You can hate it if you’d like.

    • @HUBBABUBBADOOPYDOOP
      @HUBBABUBBADOOPYDOOP 3 місяці тому

      @@Bluecollarmechanics Ok, use your "special tool" and think about *_what_* I said, and not how I said it. Don't get butthurt when someone who's been wrenching longer than you've *been alive* gives you advice. Just as with COVID-19 we've all (hopefully) learned the ramifications of bad advice here on UA-cam and elsewhere. Automotive advice is no different. If you saw somebody publish a brake job video with dangerous info- would you say something? Or just stand there and film it? Applying an *Axial* force against a Harmonic Balancer will cause it to prematurely fail, separate, derailing drive belt(s), possibly leading to further damage. Catastrophic damage. Use an impact rated (black) socket, 1/2" drive breaker bar, with length of pipe, up against the frame crossmember. Wrap rags around the pipe-frame interface. Bump the key (or engage the starter remotely, fuel and ignition disabled). Works on 99% of engines, 99% of the time.

    On most engines you can use a hinge head breaker bar jammed on to the frame rail or the ground, and bump the engine with the key , pops em loose ever time ! No straps no BS, loose in a few seconds.

    I cant tell if you're being serious. I dont know whether or not to engage. I mean ones a socket. Ones a ratchet. How much action had the 12mm socket seen VS. How much action the ratchets seen? Regardless of brand. I feel like im in a restaurant and over hear someone complaining their ice melted. If you have that ratchet still. Id be more than happy to pay you to ship it to me, heck id even toss in 20 bucks for your time. Then when i received the ratchet id take to my guys snappy truck and he would give me a new one. We both win. Im just lucky the anvil of the ratchet broke in a length i dont have yet. Im totally serious. If you haven't already fixed/replaced it. Even if it wasn't snap on still an easy fix. But if you dont want it lemme know. 🤷
