A legendry Mackem.
I was talking to him one day in The Turf Accountants in Whitley Bay one day, I didn't have a clue who he was. Immaculately dressed and groomed. You could see your face in his shoes. Then a chauffeur sticks his head in the door and reminds him of the time and tells him to hurry up as he's going to be late. When he left a bloke told me who he was. He looked as opposite to him in this video as it's possible to get. A proper toff.
I love the part when he said she thought she was having a bubble bath and she’d been eating mushy peas and the woman on the front row table reminds me of my ex sister when she starts laughing when she puts one hand on her face
Couldn't understand a word he said.
Lucky to have seen him live a few times and sat with him for a chat at High Pit club in Cramlington 😂
Had this on vinyl then I bought it on Dvd when it first came out and still have it today. Same as I have with Alan Snell
It's nearly 60 years since I left Durham, this takes me back.
Get a leg o' mince.
Living in Canada now but from Crook Co Durham. Saw Bobby a few times and this brings it all back to me. Wonderful memories. Thanks for posting.
My grandparents came from Newcastle on Tyne. Moved to Canada in 1927. The language amazes me. Brings back great memories. Thanks for sharing.
I’m not laughing.
It takes years of training not to improvise when hiding your money after a night in the Pub.
Would anyone happen to know if the unedited version of this video is on YT or elsewhere please? It was filmed at Percy Main Club and my late mum and dad can be seen on it; I'd love to see it again.
hello from brazil!
Hello there!
My late father was trying to put a flat pack together .we were playing Bobby's record on the record player. My dad couldn't put it together for laughing. He found him that funny he was crying with laughter. Bobby was bloody funny. I love watching him on the you tube channel. He was hilarious.
i listened to this record as an 11 year old at my grandparents house in 1983....i know it word for word, the war stories section is just as good....nostalgia doesnt even begin to quantify the feelings of pure happiness, safety and joy that watching this evokes in me...i still use the line when my son asks me for money..'where's tha gannin? hollang?' he just looks at me in bemusement hahah but i crack myself up hahah ...god bless y bobby....you had ya troubles like we all do, but your legacy is golden....
How I wished I'd been old enough to see Bobby back then. I was born in 1972, too young to get in the clubs 😉
Hes my partners step grandad ❤
Bobby Thompson was a comedy genius. He was clever. He was a great story teller about every day life in the North East. I'm old enough to understand what he is talking about. Bloody funny.
The little genius
Brilliant 😅
Never saw him live. But as an exiled geordie, memories and good ones of my upbringing.
Our Bobby was a non smoker lol

I remember bobby walking on stage complimenting the audiences for looking very smart. Then came the punchline. Catalogue is gonna be busy tomorrow when this lot goes back.
It's good to see that Bobby Thompson is still incredibly funny in this day & age. RIP The little waster.
Knew Bobby from my days in Whitley Bay. A generous, friendly and kind hearted man as funny in real life as he was in the clubs.
I can confirm that Kevin, met him a few times, a really nice guy. He would pack any club he was appearing at.
Best days ever 80s and 90s
Great days of clubland the youngsters will never know how wonderful it was sadly
I wish Sunderland would erect a statue to Bobby Thompson. I think he needs to be forgotten but forever remembered.
I was meant to say not forgotten.
I still say if anyone asks me ,can i do this or that ," im not an engineer"😅
I remember him in his latter days living in Monkseaton Whitley Bay. He was hilarious. 😊😊
