It is always very unfortunate to mixture transcendental realities with the purely ideological. But when the analysis is as weak, simplistic, as to portrait an almost demonic figure fighting with a "persistently" good character (who´s involved in the dirtiest possible affairs, BTW, and is also probably the first president in History with a serious neurodegenerative process which would not make him eligible for the simplest job... but that´s not even important), and especially having such a distorted, "new-agey" (in the worst sense of the word), and historically ignorant view on socialism, well, then it´s better to stick to those transcendental planes where one might have a better model. If you want to "fight evil" you better start educating yourself about the global elites and transhumanism/postmodernism, which is on its way to create a dystopia, the first planetary dystopia in Human History, which, BTW, is totally supported by Biden´s party.

Due to ill health, especially over the last four years, I now struggle with extremes of temperature throughout the seasons. I'm not good with Summer's extreme heat and even worse with Winter's biting cold. So much so, I've once again returned to looking at Equinoxes and Solstices. Drawing a line on my Google calendar from the Winter Solstice to the Spring Equinox so I can see daily how much of the Winter I have to get through (unfortunately endure) so I can be out in nature again, specifically in Symonds Yat with the beautiful Peregrines again! I wished I could hibernate! I searched a range of books on the subject and in short, the one I decided to buy, having never heard of Rebecca was "The Wheel of the Year". Literally, just a few days later, this talk dropped into my inbox! 😮 I only signed up to this channel because I'd brought, and loved and was greatly inspired by William's "The Endorphin Effect 20 years ago! 😮 I'm just going to leave this post right here 💚🤯

Thank you William and Terry for a rich, insightful and contemplative conversation. Terry, I honour you for taking on this project and wish you and the core group a deeply nourishing and graceful journey with the re-emergence of this community for what is yet to come. William, I honour and thank you for your compassion and courage in asking such deeply pertinent questions. I was notably drawn to the conversation at 23:20 in which the question arises "how do you bring disparate people together to get things done" and Terry's recognition that it is about helping them "understand that they've got everything they need", along with his humility in expressing his inner doubts (at 23:53). I enjoyed Terry's learning experience at 24:41 and applaud the insight of his boss in understanding it as such. It takes courage to acknowledge, accept and learn from mistakes and build in opportunities for wisdom and growth. I fear this is often overlooked, so it was encouraging to hear. I first visited the Findhorn Foundation in 1988 and have lived close by in Forres with my family since 2004. Although on the outskirts of community life, it nonetheless influences and enhances my daily living experience and informs my life choices. So listening to this conversation has been enriching and heart-warming, and ultimately I appreciate William's direct focus on the aims of the community founders (at around 1:00:00). I was curious about the emphasis on 'spiritual' and/or 'esoteric' development (discussed around the 58:50 point), and wonder what this truly means, to Terry, to William and to others? Is it derived from our basic human desire for security? Or to understand and connect with something perceived as 'other-worldly' (often described as God or Spirit)? Or is it an impulse driven by a more primal connection that is deeply embedded in the natural physical world we inhabit? I am sure there are many different and conflicting interpretations and views on this topic. However, what I particularly value from the early impulses of the Findhorn Foundation is the unique wisdom the founders introduced to the world through their work 'co-creating' with nature. They gave us a unique physical observation of what it means to listen to and follow instruction from a mostly ignored source of wisdom that we are yet to fully understand. Personally, I would be interested to see how the emerging community can build on the strength of that. It seems to be a vital aspect of life that science is just beginning to grasp and may be the solution we need to support healthy coexistence with our natural world in the years to come.

Why do you keep referring to Findhorn. Findhorn is the local village which has nothing to do with this blot on the local landscape. This is the Foundation, a mother ship for people escaping the reality of life. If that is how they want to live, not a problem but please stop using the local village name, I am sure a few locals have a few for you!!!!! Lets hope the place closes down completely in the near future.

A fascinating conversation. And thank you William for going into Terry's history and formative experiences with such depth and insight. It's so great to know of Terry's deep gift for creating hope and vision and empowerment within organizations facing steep challenges and where there may be so many doubters and so many saying or thinking that nothing can be done. A gift and talent so needed in today's world. I'm startled to read criticisms here from those saying they are part of Findhorn's history and I startled chuckling at the image of them saying those same kinds of things to Eileen, Peter and Dorothy within the context of different but also seemingly overwhelming challenges and all of the Unknowns they were facing back then. "Whaddya mean you're going to plant a garden and grow your own food. In THIS soil?!? If you're really going to do that then why is it taking so long?!? Whaddya mean you're going to use seaweed to create good soil. If you're talking to God and Devas they should be able to just sand their fingers and turn it into soil immediately. You've been tuning into God within and Spirit and the Devas for 9 months now. Aren't you done yet?!? Why am I not seeing an oasis filled with vegetables, fruit trees and flowers here by now?!?" 😀

You described how I felt when the turmult of the Trump years ended and calm seemed to come. Now however, I do not think we have ever had a more corrupt president than we have now. I understand that though Trump was the embodiment of greed, the turmoil was mostly created by the media. I was a lifelong democrat who had to leave the party. Association does create artificialism and groups can never be good for an individual. They form for certain reasons and when their reasons change and become untenable one has to leave or adapt to what they should not. It is a left wing media but I could not see it until I stepped outside the bubble and then saw that NPR was the most diabolical. Telling the listeners how smart they are - the smugness of it all. To think so many of us thought the other half of America was brainwashed and stupid without seeing that belief was engineered by the media. We have let ourselves be so very manipulated and unless we wake up and see that “hate speech” is just a way to take away what every other nation of people wishes they had- our first amendment.

Thank you offering for this beautiful and helpful conversation. For many decades David Spangler has been my touchstone reminder of love and service when work and personal education/explorations about our many human-caused predicaments have become jading or overwhelming for me. I no longer share his hopeful thoughts about the Biden administration but do feel that our future rests in those among us who Simon Michaux refers to as the ‘Arcadians’ - those devoted to service, peace and research explorations focusing on how we all may live more fully in relationship and flow with Earth and all her organic (and non-organic) life forms and creations. I love that this work of service and education, grounded in love, hope and respect, comes in myriad versions … we are all able to find our niche.

William, I am glad that your experience with David as a spiritual teacher is only the positive one. Initially, my personal experience was also enriching and warm, but it has changed dramatically in the last few years. I’ve had the opportunity to see also that hidden face, the one which the “spiritual teachers” usually don’t want to share in public. My voice was of course immediately silenced and I was expelled from Lorian for the rest of my life, (and probably for the next one too :)), by the people who teach about Love, unity, accepting differences, cooperation, etc.… What kind of teaching his “Incarnational Spirituality” is when even David himself is not able or willing to live up to its principles, be honest with his students or readers, or have courage to face one ordinary woman? … Spirituality without one’s personal integrity cannot be called spirituality.

Just a suggestion: You may have a completely different understanding of Pres. Trump if you read "What Trump Did" by Victor Davis Hansen, an historian not a state-supported journalist. You may be surprised to see how much of what the public perception of Trump, Obama and Biden has had to do with their PR and media 'massaging" (as opposed to "messaging"). When you look at what they DID and are doing, the executive orders carried out under their administrations - you may reluctantly realize that Obama was not a civic hero, you may be pleasantly surprised to see that that Trump was not nearly the devil he was portrayed to be (in fact, what it seems is that he underwent an enormous learning curve, and went from a corporate-sponsored buffoon to someone who really began trying to act as a patriot ... all those things that the media ascribed to Obama, which were not, in fact, supported by his actions), and concerned to realize that Biden is not the innocent agent of change which his supporters claim.

Dr. Bloom says at one point it's a "big ask" to seek for students to do two tasks at once: become "fully" aware of being in the body and simultaneously become aware of the interconnectedness with all that is. Mr. Spangler responds by laughingly saying he wouldn't expand it quite that far, maybe to include the planet. I would contend that the dichotomy Dr. Bloom sees is false, and that they are not two tasks but different chunks of the same task. IFF one becomes fully aware of the body, then this perception is naturally, inextricably intertwined with mystical AND subtle occult awarenesses. These awarenesses inevitably follow one upon the other, or may arise together. It also holds true in reverse: when one takes the opposite tack, that is searching to become fully aware of the limits of one's physicality to experience the liminality between body and not-body (or, as in some Buddist practice, self and non-self) -mirabile dictu! - the same experience arises of the complete interpenetration of physical reality with 'love', if you like, or of 'oneness' if you prefer, and they msy also atise with extensions - certain occult penetrations into completely alternate modes of concurrent reality, not general awareness of oneness necessarily, but with peculiar and specific characteristics within the perceptual field.

Thank you very much for that very candid interview, Avril. I come across so many folk who claim to be spiritual but clearly don't have a clue so it's nice to come across someone who is clearly the 'real deal', like yourself.
