Could not believe I found A. smith Bowman 9 Year Cask Strength Batch 3 - 135.1 Proof at a liquor Store in Illinois about 3 weeks ago. Was able to pick up 2 bottles. I had thought they were Distillery only bottles. 🥃

Gag gifts and frat parties, that's what this bottle is for. Before you dive into the 17 year, try and snag a bottle of their 13 year BiB Fall 2008, it's pretty great. Dickel has released a new 12 year BiB so the 13 yr might be harder to find, but I'm sure there's still some floating around out there.

I might just have to buy one for fun

I was wondering if this would make an appearance someday. I hear this makes a great Bloody Mary, or a Caesar. Normal Dickel is much better than this, so I hope you don't judge them based on this. There is a mineral note that many people describe as "Flintstones vitamins," but it's usually not in the older stuff. You might just pick up that 17, and maybe a normal Dickel and do a side-by-side.

I only saw this one once this year and was tempted to buy it. Unfortunately, that store wanted $280 for it and that was too much for my budget. I sett,ed for the Four Roses barrel proof store picks. Those are fantastic. Great review today.

It is pronounced Ma- non-ga-heal-a. My rebuys are 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, 100 proof Early Times, 100 proof Coopers' Craft, and 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey. For me, more about after effects and less about taste.

In terms of price, this is as old as, higher proof and cheaper than Michter's. Haven't had it buy I'll buy this before Michter's rye. The 11 Yr cask strength is the regular mashbill, no this 80/20 rye-malt. Though I don't buy it often anymore, the regular Overholt BiB is still a great value. Merry Christmas, Wonder Woman! There's something about ryes made in or by Kentucky that causes them to come across as bourbon. Proper Pennsylvania rye is distilled in a 3-chamber still (which I would explain, but I'm not entirely sure how it works yet), and the vast majority of big distillers use column stills, so this is my working theory as to why they're nerfed. For what it is though, it's enjoyable. If you're looking to get further into rye, I would suggest looking for a Leopold Bros. bottle. They're expensive, but worth it, I think.

It’s so interesting to me how much different every buddies taste buds are. I love this whiskey, and I can drink it straight on its own. I personally don’t understand the cough syrup vibe others describe to me it just tastes like a rush of blackberries.

Somehow, I managed to get 3 single barrel picks in one week: SLB pick that I ordered on one of their drops, an Angel's Share pick (Gambrills, MD) and then a VA ABC pick. All three are outstanding! Great review!

My wife grew up about 10 miles from the Makers Mark distillery. They do go the extra step to move barrels around while aging for more consistency. A little more expensive than 100 proof Old Grand-Dad but worth buying a bottle to try.
