Actually I do not see the detent plugs are rendered useless. I removed them the same way and they still look ok. A bit of epoxy to cover the hole and that´s it.
What’s your thoughts of using ep80/90 gear oil instead of grease ?
Quick question. Waxoil or lanoguard? Which is best
Ended up having to lay upside down and slowly press it on. Made 3 attempts with the heat including the whole case in the oven. No such luck for me anyhow.
i just fitted my pistons and torqued them down and for some reason my crank is now completely stiff and wont turn at all, any ideas as to what can cause that?
Unreal, just ruined one of my shift rod bearings trying to get this tail shaft on. Was a gentle as possible. I'm going to try this heat trick.
Thanks to you mate, I have just finished rebuilding my 2nd engine. Your videos are a great resource for help. Thanks for sharing and going into detail on each step. 🍻
Thank you so much for this video, i've started to do a rebuild on my 2.4 H9FB engine (Never attempted this before) The Piston Ring had Failed, so purchased a new kit and this is exactly what i need to get going
Great videos which may come in very handy for soon, Can you replace the shells and bearings from underneath without taking the engine out? Thanks.
Спасибо, по вашему видео собрал правильно мт-82
Excellent vid, thank you.
thanks
Ok here’s how to get this right, Get a portable AC unit with a dehumidifier. If the wx is suboptimal this will work. Seal up your garage and let it do this for an overnight. Preheat your waxoyl to 68 to 70 degrees. Once your waxoyld up let it dry for 6 to 12 hours. You can also do this in a mobile paint booth which you can rent or even a car shelter provided you seal it as much as possible. I found that the spray can kits were more convenient when I did it for a friend. I’ll be doing my 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR this fall, probably on a low humidity dry day off. Hoping the hardcoat provides years of preservation to my Tacoma’s frame
Hello. So (at 24:20ish minutes) the setting of the CKP holder is not that critical, giving or taking a few mm?
very inspiring! thank you! I am looking through to see how everything else it's put together
Got to do my sons defender. Thank you. We've done a full engine rebuild following you videos, so thank you for taking the time to do them. Much appreciated.
Hi mate do you have any information on the updated fuel tank breather . On eBay it's 85 pound I would like to think it was made out of better stuff and didn't split anymore
Thanks Nigle, did a complete head job on my 2.4, all your info gave me confidence to do it on my own with great success! 👍
Good
I no it a few years ago this video but could I ask how you aligned the tub so the doors fit correctly please
Bonjour, Je m'inspire de vos vidéo pour remonter un moteur 2.0tdci duratorq d'une Mondeo Serai t'il possible d'avoir les couples de serrage précis pour cette opération ? Un grand merci d'avance.
Hi, if you found rust inside the chassis what product would you choose to kill it off before using Waxoyl? Thanks
Hi thank you for making these videos. Im currently working on the same engine have run into an issue. My cams wont turn by hand once torqued. Are my cams bent or is the head the issue?
Just want to tell you “Thank you”! Probably the best video about Defender Puma. I’ve learned so much from you. Better than Haynes manual 😊
Looks more like terracotta axle
Thank you so much brilliant
Thankyou Good help
On a standard clutch, what seems to happen at around 50,000miles is that one of the springs ejects out of the centre plate, this leads to a very heavy pedal, but can still operate for a while like that, have changed loads like that at that mileage
A pleasure to watch!
What a bloke ! Thank you so much for documenting the process. I most definitely wouldn't have been able todo this head gasket job without this series. Absolute master class if you ask me
Put bush in on an angle then press it in
Fuel pump sprocket can sit at any 4 points due to it bolting to the hub
A shim is a he/she😅😅😅😅
Hi Nigel, is waxoyl any good if there is surface rust already inside where I can’t get to to rub down and prime before hand? Cheers
Os detalhes são importantes, tal como ver os videos completos, existem sempre pormenores que vai dizendo que acaba por ser importante.Se o vídeo for demasiado.abreviado acabamos por perder informação.
What did you do about the valve stem seals ?
I am so annoyed and irritated that literally no one else mentions or gives warning about this damn breather tube on the top of the bell housing. I had to discover the hard way just how fragile this damn thing is, when i did the longtube headers on my 2011 mustang gt. I mustve broken the exposed tube and now i have an occasional small leak. I think i have to drop the trans to fix it too, i dont really want to risk getting moisture or dirt in there.
You definitely got a new subscription from me. Very interesting in my opinion
This video has proven invaluable for me. I'm going todo a head gasket, what would you say I'd need in terms of parts? Also I've got the mechanics manual, and there doesn't seem to be a head gasket replacement section. Do I have to follow the manual engine rebuild instead?
Excellent and full of great tips. I’ve just done the rear of a mk7 Golf with 3 cans of a slightly different product. This was in the middle of a bit of brake work, which is possibly the best time to spray wax on a complete car as it does go everywhere! For the front area I’ll get a can like you have and spray away, which is why I came to your vid. Great to see thinning the product and general pressures. On the chassis, I think the key is to know the space you are waxing. If you don’t know it as well as you do, get a cheap boroscope and look inside for compartments, blind areas etc. Draw out as you spray also seems great. For external areas I found the spray cans create a very good ‘fog’. Unsure how long it’ll last but how well does the angle probe replicate this, please? On the sandblaster comment I’d say buy the bog standard 220L cabinet that you can get the cheapest and then pay for the ‘Parts Washer Upgrade’ kit, (see their YT channel). IMO, no need to buy an expensive cabinet as I don’t think you can do better than their guns etc. Just my 2p.
Would the mustang engine fit into a transit custom 2020? I ask you because you seem to know about the puma engine and mor sensible than any Ford mechanic. At the moment, mine is fitted with a euro 6 ‘wet belt’ version & was hoping that the 2.3 mustang unit was better!
What size drill bits?
Helping us fix our transit campervan. Legend mate nice one
Please keep making your videos they are fascinating I love watching you work
I think you are a very clever man the way you hold things in place so you can weld. them absolutely brilliant 😊
Good on you mate sod what other people think I think you have done a great job I often wondered why my chassis on my defender was like that now I know anyway keep up the good work
@ 10:22 incredible!!! I love that part how the tailshaft just gently falls down. Does it do that every time??
Thank you very much Nigel. May the manual have errors because your manual is for Lt230T and the one for Puma is LT230Q? Great your videos are very useful and help me to do a lot in my Landy Puma. It is amazing how clean you work
Excellent video, we use diesel to thin as it creeps reallly well.
Great video, just one thing when releasing the cam chain tensioner do it slowly by holding the guide against it, the pawl can be damaged otherwise
