I have noticed same type problems. Sometimes very hot, althought I use only web browser. Other problem is short battery time, only 1 hour 15 min. Positive thinking. In winter computer is good hand heater.

I have the 7680 model with the i7-13850HX and RTX3500 and can only partly agree with that. Yes, it get's very hot that you burn your skin when you touch it but only when you place the laptop on a bed or sofa. If you use it on a table it does not get hotter than other laptops with Intel HX processors. The main factor here is that Dell uses a aluminium backcover instead of a plastic one which most other vendors use. Aluminium tends to get hotter than other materials like plastic. Additionally it takes fresh air from the bottom which is not possible when you place it on the bed. During surfing the 7680 stays very quiet with only light fan noise.

Facing the same issue! It gets so damn hot that you cant even touch it. I work in IT and its unusable. Dell should look into it as its such an expensive device.

Hello. A p600 quadro card 2gb is for premiere 1080p video editing/encoding equal or worse from 1060 3gb? I want to change it,because quadro is 1 slot height and i need the extra pci-e that now is hidden from my 1060. Thanks for any answer

This may very well be an issue with the Dell Precision lineup then. I had a similar experience with my Dell Precision 5560. Granted, there's a difference, because the Precision 5560 is a thin and light laptop with an identical chassis to the XPS 15. My Precision 5560 had an i7-11850H, 32GB RAM, and an NVIDIA RTX A2000. It ran so hot that I couldn't use it without the air conditioner on, because the heat it radiated was just so much. Eventually, it started crashing whenever I would run AI Image upscalers. It's a shame because these computers are expensive, but they underperform so much.

This is bad. I know Dell can make decent kit - the best model I worked on recently was Core i9 based but integrated graphics, so no overheating. The perfect workstation; very, very fast but limited gaming potential. Ideal for anyone who doesn't need the grunt of a high-end GPU for rendering / gaming. Best to stick to desktop PCs for the heavy lifting!

I am glad I purchased a 3630 off of eBay. I upgraded the PSU, installed new thermal paste, added an ssd (sata) and dropped in an RX 6600 xt. It games at 1080p like a champ!

Have an HP Z2 Tower G4 workstation. It had no graphics card. Booted normally. Added a new NVIDIA P4000. Now the computer boots with a fan error 90b. Ever heard of this problem when adding a video card? No online solutions have resolved the issue.

Is this going to be better than using Parsec? That app has been the smoothest for me

Hello! Thanks a lot for this very helpfull video. I have build a pc do use for Abaqus simulations for my thesis but i haven't bought a gpu yet. I have been doing some research and narrowed down my choices to a quadro gp100 or a titan v. The FP64 performance indicates that the titan is better, but on the other hand the quadro has more vram and 4096bit bus compared to 3072bit on the titan. Could you recommend one or the other?

My setup includes: - i5 13th gen CPU - 128 GB DDR5 RAM - 1 TB Gen 4 NVMe SSD - NVIDIA Quadro P2000 GPU The analyses take hours on my PC. Interestingly, when I enable the GPU in ANSYS settings for FEA, it actually slows down the run compared to using 4 CPU cores. This aligns with your previous advice about needing strong FP64 (double) performance, which the P2000 lacks with only 92 GFLOPS. I'm considering two GPU options: 1. NVIDIA A6000 (non-Ada version) - $5000 - Officially supported by ANSYS - 48 GB VRAM - FP64 (double) performance: 604.8 GFLOPS 2. Jorge I wonder regarding your dell if you have opened up the back of the enclosure and tried cleaning the dust away? Maybe there is lot of dust inside causing the thermal issues? Else its definitely an issue with Dell. Great review. Thanks
