    Great video. Right on time for my project. I am setting up Win Server RDS for a customer’s remote access. (Business apps. W/o tweaking there is a noticeable performance lag that is unacceptable) Please confirm: Your configuration recommendations for GPU acceleration removes the need to purchase the Nvidia VDI license. I was working on the assumption that the Nvidia license (and drivers) enabled the pass through acceleration.

      I confirm! I only have one tip, and it is very important, the highest end GPUs, like the 6000 Ada or 5000 Ada, they work perfectly for the configurations on this video, but they may not work when using Proxmox or other virtual environments. As they will probably require additional licensing. Thanks for watching!

    I used Tesla V100 16 GB. But my simulation stopped midway and it says out of memory. You know a work around for this? Hybrid?

    • @JorgeMoralesAv
      @JorgeMoralesAv 4 дні тому

      Are you out of memory RAM or VRAM? if you disable the GPU acceleration, can you solve the job? Try that, if that is the case, reduce the elements of the model and run it again using GPU acceleration. Hybrid is more recommendable for CPUs with performance and e-cores using different thread counts. But you might give a try, altough it requires usally more RAM. Thanks for watching!

    • @lashmeister

      @@JorgeMoralesAv I got 192 GB RAM. With just CPU, it is able to simulate just fine. Was thinking if I could simulate it faster. But with GPU acceleration enabled, it says out of memory. My Tesla has 16GB of VRAM. Does stacking more GPU of the same kind solve this issue? Or no?

      definitely an Nvidia card will do a better job. For anys always the more VRAM you have in GPU the better to accomodate the mesh data set. An RTX5000, A5000, A5500 mobile or even the old P5000 are great. Tested all of them myself in the 7700s series.

    Un millón de gracias por este video! Llevaba mas de un año mirando monitores, para cuando llegara el momento de comprar uno me funcionase perfectamente con el nuevo mac mini que tenía pensado comprar. Entre los elegidos estaba este Dell U2724DE pero había algunos comentarios en internet que me hacían dudar; además de cientos de videos hablando del 4k, re-escalado de la imagen en los mac, poca nitidez, etc. Por suerte encontré tu video a escasos días de tener que tomar la decisión final de cual monitor comprar. Y estoy super contento con la decisión tomada!!. Tienes toda la razón y tiene una calidad de imagen espectacular!!! Es un monitor calidad/precio insuperable con el dock de puertos y todo a través de un único cable thunderbolt. Tenia bien claro que no iba a comprar un monitor OLED y pagar el precio desorbitado que tienen por ser la novedad. Éste Dell por el precio que tiene actualmente (460€) es una maravilla. Otra vez, muchas gracias por el video tan bueno especificando claramente todas sus bondades y derribando mitos y leyendas urbanas que hacen algunos youtubers solo por conseguir mas clicks en sus videos. Saludos !

    You have to turn off turbo 3.0 in the bios if you want this computer to not throttle some cores to 90 Celsius intermittently. Additionally, you can put the laptop into cool mode so that the fan really cranks to offset heat generation of this cores going to town. I am adding this here in case anyone like me stumbles across this video and thinks to themselves: "Oh no, there is nothing I can do now that I bought this $2000-$4000 machine and dell has only a 30 day return policy." It is a performance workstation: only people who are very knowledgeable about technology such as engineers and developers should really be using them, not just gamers, overspecialized designers, or people doing 4-16k video editing. Should Windows have engineered this machine to function more acceptably out of the box? Absolutely. Is there something we can do to mitigate this issue as a consequence of having a laptop that has 24 cores clocked at 5.0 ghz with a 16gb video card and 128 gigs of ram? Absolutely. Perhaps some company's machines: hp, etc; do not have an issue with heat when being driven to incredibly high loads, but dell overshot here a little bit. They tried to pack a monster into a case not much bigger than a macbook pro. That being said, having the option to push your device to melt down is an option some developers and engineers expect and demand in a piece of tech, just think about a nuclear reactor, NASA, control or the Hadron collider: If those engineers want to turn up to 11/10 in some crack pot plan to make a last ditch effort to achieve something and see if the safety factor holds in an emergency, they should have the power to do so. Dells real mistake here was case/chassis design and not having the twin turbo turned off by default; perhaps having a warning label when it is turned on.
