It's normal for us to always want more, although that isn't always serving our best interests. I regularly remind myself that I've come a long way. Ask myself "how much is enough?", and remind myself that everyone has their own journey; the only one we should be comparing ourselves to, is our past self. Take a deep breath. You got this. I've tried a lot of different things to improve my focus. In this video, I'll share exactly how I get into flow and maximize my time spent in a state of flow. I don't do this every day, because it's quite intense. However, this is how I get my best and most satisfying work done. So if you struggle to get into the flow state, I encourage you to experiment with the tips in this video, because the...

subscribe :) Most of us just want to be happy. But pretty much all of us struggle to find lasting happiness. Whether it's because we compare ourselves to others, or because of how our brains work. In this video we'll look at how to be happy, and how to work with hedonic adaptation and impact bias.

Thank you for this hopeful message! Great that you are uploading more frequently again. Can’t wait for your next video. 🙏🏻
I just came across your channel. Thank you for the video, and the advice. I don't know what app to use to start investing. Any recommendations ?
Thanks for your comment! I expected that question, but I didn't put it in the video because it's a tricky one to answer. There are so many variables and a lot of options for brokers. It depends on where you live and how much you want to invest. Are you in the USA? I've generally heard good things about Vanguard, Charles Schwab, and Fidelity. InteractiveBrokers are also a big player, but they have an old-school (and complicated interface) - which is why I wouldn't recommend them. Robinhood (US) is cheap but very unreliable, given their past behavior, in my opinion. (Same for webull, etc). In Europe, the main brokers are Saxo and DeGiro. DeGiro is more focused on low cost but they also have a worse reputation than Saxo because of issues with the Dutch financial authority. The bank where you might already have a bank account could also be a good option for investing in index funds/ETF's, especially in Europe. I'm not sure about the fees and ease of use in the USA. They're generally easy to get started setup, reliable, and the fees are not super high. The most important thing is to just get started.
Banger of a video, thanks for some inspiration to stay grounded mana
Appreciate it man! 🙏🏻
Just to be clear, your complete lack of worry almost gave you a concussion and then you fell into a straight-to-tv movie where actually being a billionaire is bad and the real good life is the friends we made along the way, and now I should stop worrying and embrace the bomb? Like yeah, I get that life will never be satisfying no matter what goals we achieve, but it also isn't satisfying now and I'm not one to look at the shadows a leaf makes or whatever and be content.
I believe life can be satisfying. We don’t need anything but our basics needs to be met to be able to be satisfied. It helps to have more, but none of it matters if we don’t truly appreciate any of it. I think the important part is being grateful for what we already have. Nothing wrong with having big goals. But if you don't appreciate what you already have, you won't appreciate what you might have - when that future comes - either.

Thanks for watching!
There are so many set backs in life, dealing with them head on and not quitting is a skill we all have to develop. For me, going into the wild and experiencing nature at its roughest really helps. Thanks for the inspiration, looking forward to your next video❤
I agree, nature is perhaps the best teacher. Thank you ♥️

Hi, I am Japanese now living in Yokohama next to Tokyo but I am originally from MATSUMOTO. I am glad you experienced my home town. I love your adventure. Your spontaneous travel spirit is wonderful.
Matsumoto and the surrounding area is a beautiful part of Japan. The Sake from the area is also very good! I hope to return to Matsumoto in the future and do some more hiking in the area. Thank you for your kindness!
Dude you deserve more views. Your message really resonated with me - I think I'll get my paints out. Or my guitar. Or my camera. Or go for a motorcycle ride. Or go fishing :)
Man, that makes me smile from ear to ear! That's the entire reason I make these videos. Thank you!
My job for the last 35 years has been staring at a computer screen, and not much travel at all. Next month I'm taking a 10 day solo trip to Japan. I fully expect my brain to form so many new neural pathways lol. I hope it's not too much for me - I guess I'll find out. Good video man, I appreciate the message was a little late for me but I'm trying anyway.
You'll have a blast! I really believe it's never too late! Japan is so nice for solo travel because you can really just walk into any random tiny restaurant and order some great food anywhere - if you're feeling like it's too much at any point - or pop into a convenience store, grab some snacks, and chill in your room or wander around for a bit. Definitely try the fried chicken they sell at the convenience stores (assuming you're not a vegetarian) - I made the mistake of not trying that my first time in Japan. I have no idea how they make them so good, but they're crazy good. If your hotel has a public bath (or an Onsen), definitely try that if you didn't plan on doing so already. One last tip, I found it really nice to know _very_ basic Japanese (honestly "Good day" and "Thank you", and maybe "Excuse me" are all you need!). Don't worry too much about seeing everything and doing everything - I'm sure you'll have a great trip! Thanks for your kind words and support - I appreciate it more than you know!
honestly for me the chinese tourists ruined it for me
Definitely not the first I hear complaints about Chinese tourists, but I honestly didn't experience it myself during any of my trips to Japan this year. I think it depends a lot on where you go. I spent maybe 5%-10% of my trip in 'popular' places so the overall impact on the trip is so small that I can't remember a single specific instance where I felt Chinese tourists negatively impacted my trip. Was this in super popular/touristy places?
Welcome to Japan. I am very happy with the very beautiful video. Did you enjoy Japan? Also, please come on.
Definitely! I enjoyed visiting Japan so much that I just got back from my third visit this year. It’s beautiful and I really appreciate the hospitality, the amazing food, beautiful nature, and incredible culture that Japan has to offer. Thank you for your kindness. ありがとうございます
Your voice-over was excellent, keep doing that IMO. Lovely trip, so much more interesting than the thousand videos of Shibuya Sky and Golden Gai. I'll be in Japan in 6 weeks, first time and I can hardly wait lol.
Thanks for the feedback! 🙏🏻 Definitely check out the less touristy spots, the places everyone visits are cool but there are so many hidden gems that are run by incredible people and don’t have insane TikTok/insta queues. I’m sure you’ll make amazing memories! :)
Going solo late next month when it's cooler. How many times can i expect to hit my head as a 6'7" guy? 😂
Hahaha at this point I think you just have to embrace the look and wear a helmet at all times 🥹😂 On a serious note, Japan is really nice in the cooler months! It’s not nearly as crowded (or as hot 💀). I didn’t hit my head that often, because the ‘low’ obstructions are often at or below eye level, even for me. You will stand out in the crowd though, but that just makes for easy navigation in busy areas. Maybe bring some socks for when the blankets are <6’ 🥹 I’m sure you’ll make amazing memories - enjoy! 🙏🏻
Really awesome Video man, loved that you went deep into the mountains. I travel very similar to you so it's nice to see you uncover some hidden gems. What was the name of the Onsen you went to in the mountains?
Thank you for your kind comment! It’s a Guesthouse called Raicho! Highly recommend it. Super friendly staff and great area for hiking and spending time in the mountains. Private Onsen visits are included in the stay and you can go as often as you like, which is pretty unique. If you plan on visiting Japan, I also highly recommend Kityokawa in Oku-tama - it’s my favorite guesthouse ever. You can do hikes and swim in the river right next to the guesthouse. If you visit, say hi to the staff from me. They’re incredible and some of the kindest people I’ve ever met!
Cool to see some traveling vlogs from lesser known channels. Good luck with your next travel video!
Thank you! ♥️
Which camera do you use?
Sony A7C ii for almost everything, with a few iPhone 15 pro shots mixed in there too

Actually small things can make big difference in our life. There are lot more things like this We know but we didn’t apply in our Life that’s where Life is going hard
Agree. Little things make a huge difference, but for me becoming aware of how my brain works has been such a big game-changer to how I approach life
@@meos yep me also I am aware of my energy going on brain that’s wonderful If i am on have Hemi- syn & flow that’s even more awesome do you know how to get Flow state easily any quick tricks ? I only got 5 times max in my all over life Any tips & tricks to easy to access?
Uploaded a new video that might be helpful with some tips to make it easier to get into flow :)
Thank you for this video! I wanted to mention that not only does a flow state help with productivity, it's incredibly healing to the brain. When we are in flow state our brain can heal in ways that are is usually not accessible to us. I watched a documentary featuring a doctor that has studied flow state for decades, and they did a study once where they took individuals with PTSD and had one group of them go to therapy, and the other group go to therapy as well as take weekly surfing lessons (surfing has a high number of flow triggers). The individuals who went to both therapy and weekly surfing lessons has significantly better outcomes and were able to heal a lot of their symptoms much quicker than the other group. Flow state is one of the most important things we can do to care for our brains <3
That's amazing! I didn't know that. Do you know the name of the documentary? I'd love to watch it. I wonder how big the impact of being outside/exercising was on the healing process as well? It's seems really common advise for mental health as well right? Surfing combines all of that as well. Funny coincidence, I was literally talking to my girlfriend about how surfing is my favorite sport and wish I could do it more often. Do you surf as well? And if so, have you experienced flow while surfing? And thank you for watching and leaving a super interesting comment!

Communitas is a strong flow amplifier. Where you have a group of people who are able to use flow to assist them working on very similar goals, where they are passionate about progress, it can amplify it by more than the sum of the individuals. See Camp 4, Yosemite, for climbing. it wasn't a group of individuals all working on their own personal goals, they were all working together as 1 in collaboration to really push what was achievable and weren't focussed on themselves and how good they were individually (ego) they were all part of 1 movement
100% - it works insanely well. You don’t even have to work on the same team imo, a bit of healthy competition can make it so much easier to dip into flow. Watching other people work or bouncing ideas off each other is really powerful and inspiring.
@@meos positive comunitas is definitely the strongest. It is seen more where the consequences are higher.
Thank you for your reply! Sorry for my slow reply. Do you think it might be dependent on the person? It’s really fascinating. I have personally experienced it also in group settings and in competitive settings as well, but I can also tap into flow regularly and with relative ease when working by myself. Ofcourse I have no way of knowing right now if the effects would be amplified from working with others, but they could be. Would definitely like to try, but I don’t have friends that are making content haha. Perhaps something for the future. Would definitely love to look into it and make more videos around this topic!
@@meos Think it would depend a lot on the curiosity, passion, grit and creativity of the group members although I believe, in the right environment that creativity creates creativity. It would only work with people that have similar ambitions and goals and the one thing that kinda destroys flow is ego. It is a powerful state that any human with a fully functioning brain can achieve if they set themselves up for it. Opening the mind and destroying ego really accelerate the process so you can see that, a group of open minded individuals who are strongly passionate about something would definitely benefit communitas over say a group of people who are either set in their own ways or not really interested in what they are trying to achieve
Love this! Completely agree with taking travel slowly, we're only just learning to pace ourselves four months in to an epic adventure in South East Asia! Love the content you're making <3
thank you! wishing you an amazing trip - enjoy! :)
Very informative
thanks!
Great video and good points!
thanks man!
This is very insightful and resonates with me a lot. I have a solo 4 month backpacking trip planned for this year and even though I cannot wait, I'm absolutely shitting myself! However it's something I've always wanted to do and I know I would regret it later in life if I didn't. Exploring the world and meeting new is all part of the growth process, and the only way I can achieve that is by physically stepping out of my comfort zone. A wise quote I heard from David Goggins that I'll always carry with me - "Friction is growth". I firmly stand by the truth of this and I encourage anyone who even has the slightest thought of doing something completely bizarre like travelling solo... Do. It. As cliche as it is, you have a single life. Live it the way YOU want. P.S would love to see a video about your backpack and any travelling tips/stories!
That sounds amazing man! Just outside our comfort zone is where the real magic happens! Embrace the discomfort, you’ll be fine. I’m currently on a trip in Japan with one of my best friends and a video is definitely in the making - shot a looot of cool footage on this trip. Definitely feeling the urge to create more travel content - stay tuned! :) Great quote by the way, hope to see you around! Eager to hear how your trip goes! With that kind of mindset I’m sure you’ll have a great time. Do you already know where you’ll be going?
