Sustaining Notes on the Classical Guitar
Many beginner classical guitarists struggle to make their playing sing. Their playing sounds jumpy, and this is often because they are thinking one note at a time and not about longer phrases. By thinking about sustain when we play, we can create beautiful phrases which really help to create a melody that sings.

How to Use Walking Fingers on the Classical Guitar
Переглядів 17 тис.2 роки тому

Lesson: Barre Chords for the Classical Guitar
Переглядів 10 тис.2 роки тому
Playing barre chords on the classical guitar can be a major obstacle for many beginners. Many people believe they require a lot of strength, and that we need to press very hard with our first finger. However, the opposite is true. We need to stay relaxed so that we can be accurate with our finger placement. It is also important so we can play other melodic material or anything else that is unde...
How to Read Music for the Classical Guitar
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
Note reading on the classical guitar is an important skill for any beginners guitarist. Learning to read music is an important skill for any musician, but for many musicians, reading is very difficult and time-consuming. We're constantly having to stop and work out the notes, and when we do that, not only do we find it difficult to play the notes, we're all unable to think of other things like ...
Classical Guitar: Basic Techniques You Must Know!
Переглядів 3,6 тис.2 роки тому
When teaching my classical guitar students, I see the same mistakes happen again and again. In this video, I explain 4 of the most common mistakes I see; walking fingers, basic left-hand technique, counting and note reading. Some of you may have some other ideas relating to music theory or guitar technique, but these are the 4 that I see most often. I think it's really important to master these...

How I Shape My Nails for the Perfect Guitar Sound
tysm
idk y im watching this i don't even have a guitar
I enjoyed the video it was very helpful. But you forgot the part where you should put strengthening gel on the nails to stop them from breaking and chipping.
Was waiting for when he was gonna start teaching how to read sheet music and the video ended…
You wanna learn how to play the guitar?! Well i’m gonna show _you_ how with Simply Guitar ™️ First things first: let’s learn our first chord!
What about the thumb? My thumb is getting stuck on the string. Thank you.
one of the best versions, clean and pleasant
Great 👍
Great thanks. I am not a classical guitarists but on the side I have been learning Bourree in e minor. A nice rhythmically uncomplicated piece I can work out a bar at time. I am here because I wanted to know how to heck to dampen a note so they aren't ringing out all over the place. Now I know there are two types of thumb strokes - a rest stroke and a free stroke. Now I need to take it to the next step and learn to execute a desirable rest stroke and free stroke. Thanks.

What book / material for learning guitar do you recommend (your own?) :) grown ups / larger and smaller kids thanx in advance
Change the title because this video didn’t teach me at all how to read classic guitar music
I like these simple but good videos …good advice given well.
No but how do I use my pinky three frets behind the barre without fucking up the barre?
Any tips on training to do this at blazing speed? Im stubbornly against picks and am trying to apply this technique to alternate picking riffs.
Really appreciate it. My nail was always snagging my strings
On the road to good barre technique, this is step 1. Maybe it goes without saying, but I'd like your take on the following: Step 0 should be to make sure your guitar is setup properly! So many beginner guitars have too high an action, both at the nut (fret 0) and at fret 12 (from too high a saddle). And most beginners aren't going to go to a luthier (at least not right away) to have the guitar properly setup. The closeups in your video look like your guitar has a pretty low action, making it inherently easier to do a proper barre without buzze (pun intended).
Placing all my fingers close to the frets doesn't seem to help man, I have to apply massive force to avoid muting. I even start struggling with open chords due to exhaustion. It's not like I haven't played barre chords before, but it was easy on electric. Why is it so hard?
Please more!
excellent sound!
What the… this is actually magic. I want to thank you so much.
Excellent ! Thank you :)
There are elements of truth here (the downward push), but also incorrect information (nails do pluck), and a nail profile offered without explanation or context.
what are the uses of ring finger should I use it on scales alterations or only on arpeggios where should i use it?
Thanks for the video. However, a problem that I have been struggling with.... for 45 years...... is this. I can lay my index finger flat across all 6 strings, apply a little pressure, and get a reasonable sound from each string. Obviously, it gets a little harder further up the neck. BUT, as soon as I place ANY other finger down, my index finger gets pulled out of position, and the chord breaks down. Another problem is that the G-string INVARIABLY ends up right under the middle crease of my finger and the resulting note sounds dead or I get the inevitable buzzing.
A tip for the index getting pulled out of place is try keeping your thumb below halfway of the neck
these close up shots are great for kids, thank you :)
this is wrong
😄👍
Well done!... I also challenge anyone that has the skill set and learns to play with nails to learn how to play clean and aggressive without them!...
😃👍
One note, like C, can be played in several position, so I like tab better since it clearly tells me which string and fret to play this note.
When you learn where all the notes are, you won’t need tabs to tell you which one to play
Moreover, I would say reading tabs is not reading music, because in tabs there's no time signature.

Clever . ..
Thanks for the Tip
Try acrylics. I’ve been using them for a couple years.
Appreciate your fine attention to the nails. Any suggestions for brittle, thin nails? Asking for a friend.
I was 🤔 about that. 🥰
Hi Cindy Using emojis in the middle of sentences as replacements for words is generally very annoying I hope you surround yourself with people that don’t find it annoying. I don’t want you wondering why your family doesn’t speak to you anymore Best wishes
This has changed how I approach barre chords. Great video
And always press the ball of your thumb in the middle of the back of the neck. Never try to wrap it over onto the 6th string.
very good 👍
I really love the content bro...please do more😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Can I have nylon strings on my guitar forever without changing it?
You don't need to change them very often, but after a while they will start to lose their colour and sound, and after a very long time they will start to become quite damaged - so probably best to change them one day.
@@davidhartleyguitar every 6 mounths?
@@BortasArt It likely depends on how often you practice so while changing strings every 6 months may apply to someone else, it may not apply to you.
