      Hi, I know the Takacat well unfortunately never owned one. I had a SIB last year that I hooked the F6 to but it was very bogged down and slow, I think because of the soft hull. Had a Marlon SP12 the year b4 and it flew, got up on plane like nothing with 2 ppl. I’m presuming the Taka will be somewhere in the middle to upper range of that? I used this motor on a 12' inflatable SIB and it was so bogged down, the Marlon was the perfect match. Good luck

    I had an unusual issue this yer when running my 6hp Yamaha w/remote tank. I do the maintenance as you describe, change the fuel filter and have replaced the impeller componets once (spring 2022). This summer it would start fine and after a few minutes, it would miss and get progressively worse then stall. I could restart it immediately and the same behavior would repeat after a few more minutes running at speeds just above the start indicator on the tiller handle. I found I could prevent stalling out by quickly dethrottling and returning to the original position. I removed the plug and cleaned/gapped it, but it didn't need much adjustment or cleaning. I was thinking I may have had a bad tank of fuel. So I dumped it in my car and refilled the tank (always use ethynol-free in this motor). I took it out yesterday and it stalled out once again, then had a few misses as I continued. After a few minutes, it ran great on the remainder of the 20 minute run to the ramp. When I got home and flushed it in a barrel, it seemed to be fine, but is hard to tell running at low speed in gear while in the barrel. Do you suppose there was some moisture in the fuel line of the motor or the fuel filter and it eventually cleared out with the fresh gas? Is there something else in the ignition system that might cause a miss and then it clears up? Thanks for the informative video!

    • @everything.outdoors
      @everything.outdoors 10 місяців тому

      Hi, thanks for the comment. Funny you should mention this, I had this issue when I first bought the motor. I believe mine was down to some old gasoline. I had some stabilized gas sitting for the winter and threw it in the built in tank at the start of the season, it behaved similar to as you described. I ran the motor dry and added fresh zero ethanol and no problems since, so I was convinced it was the fuel. I did have an old Lund with a Mercury 9.9 years ago that was doing it and it turned out that it was sucking air in through one of the fuel line fittings. Sounds a lot like yours may be sucking air when it’s demanding more fuel at higher speeds? I only use the built in tank, apart from the one issue so far so good. Hope you get it figured out…

    • @ebachy
      @ebachy 10 місяців тому

      @everything.outdoors hmmm...have to check that. Mine turn and sort of screw on. I did have an issue today with the hose...pit it on the tank with the primer bulb closer to the tank...couldn't get it to prime, then switched ends and it worked as expected. Later read the owners manual - there is an arrow on the bulb that I missed! I think I'll change out the fuel filter and give it a trial! I do run it dry after shutting off the gas, but I suppose there could be a bit of gas and maybe a small amount of condensation from the moisture in the air...it does sit adjacent to the water all summer... Thanks for checking in!

    • @l73global
      @l73global 4 місяці тому

      Sounds like some sort of fuel delivery issue. At any point in time did fuel sit in the carb while it sat idle not being used? If you dumped the old fuel and put fresh fuel and still exhibited the same issue, I would suspect fuel delivery issues still exist. I would take the Carburetor apart and unscrewing the main jet and nozzle and soaking the entire Carburetor for atleast 3hrs. Do not just spray the Carburetor via a canister and expect it to be fully cleaned by that process, bc it doesn't. The two best methods are either soaking in a Carburetor cleaner or ultrasonic machine for at least 3 hrs. Ensure all passages are clean. Follow it up with freshwater to rinse and blow compressed air to get rid of all the moisture and particles. That is my go to method and has never failed me.

Once the family was removed, I had a very hardtime trimming the boat out, it is fairly heavy as you said and also has the extra power which didn't help with trimming. Maybe if you sat centrally in the boat and had an extension on the tiller handle? Or a fair amount of weight up front. The 6 horse of power on the river would be great though. good luck with whichever you choose.

Everyone needs to quit trying to shut down outdoor activities that they don’t like and come together as an outdoor enthusiast community and stand up for our rights to do all of these things outside that we love to do whether you agree with it or not. Navigable water ways are not restricted, they are a public waterway where we have the right to navigate the water in a power boat as if it was a highway. There are speed restrictions where the government and natural resource officials fee the need to slow powerboats in a fragile system. The only one with a bad attitude in here is you. I know all about salmon using the river to spawn. I worked for freshwater fisheries for 8 years and have been fishing it and almost every other water body in the province for my whole life. I’m completely open to discussing speed restrictions on parts but I believe they would be thrown out immediately due to the lack of authenticity behind them. Not likely it will get cleaned up, unless someone wants to go get some free fire wood for their use, or maybe sell it.

    Hi why did you choose this boat over an esquif rangeley ?

      Hi, thanks for watching. Basically these Clippers are made 20 minutes down the road from me and have a great name in the area. Everyone I spoke too kept talking very highly of Clippers so I didn't really consider anything else. .

      @@everything.outdoors I have a 16 ft skiff for saltwater, but just found your vid searching Yamaha 6hp that I've got that gave me starting issues but your canoe caught my eye! It's like a freighter canoe? I'm just trying to understand the advantages of having this set up versus a regular skiff. Love your canoe

      @@TTTT-rc4fv yeah thanks man, its a great portage canoe. for the size at 16.5' this kevlar model only weighs 69lbs. 1 person can lift and carry it on shoulders. Unfortunately I don't have much other experience with other brands. Like I mentioned, Clippers are very popular here in the Vancouver Canada area.

      And yes, 1300lb capacity is insane. I'm sure there are competitors with a similar weight rating but I never even really came close to maxing it out.

    I am looking at a Mac sport in either 16’6 or 18’ My intention would be drifting Rivers and powering back upstream
