Easy BMW e60 CCC constant reboot fix
CCC has been rebooting on the BMW logo for 6 months. I have tried all sorts of fixes on youtube and hundreds of websites but none seemed to work.
For some reason I didn't believe My CCC was toast.
Reluctantly, I decided to buy a used CCC unit. I got it, installed it and everything worked fine. But then it had the power knob missing, so I decided to remove the front panel and replace it with mine from the old CCC. Then the new CCC went nuts rebooting on its own just like the old CCC did.
AND THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED THAT THE FRONT PANEL WAS THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG.
I reinstalled my old CCC and swapped the front plates with that from the new CCC and MY OLD CCC came back to life.
I hope this video helps someone save a buck or two and a lot of stress as I didn't see any video covering this possibility, hence my decision to make this.

when car parks under sun, it doesn't work. keep restarting and no sound.
I am having same problem, when cold CIC works fine, until turn the car off and restarts
Is the cooling fan on the unit working?
Oh hell no! I've bought 2 used CCCs on eBay with no luck. It just keeps rebooting and I'm not even seeing the logo. But now I'll try this out since I have the extra faceplate right here. PLEASE LET THIS BE IT! I've been driving around with no infotainment system in my car for over year. This means, no second dates.
Please let us know if it worked for you.
@@sharpshenk3794 I have the same problem in my E90. Boot loop but no BMW logo. Did you get this fixed?
@@jdaley23 My fix is in the video
The bluetooth module and the TPM in the trunk are also common culprits for this problem. If water gets in it, corrosion on the panel occurs and causes the reboot too.
@@sharpshenk3794 TPM meaning tyre pressure monitor?
Thanks a lot your life saver
Does that work on e61 2005?
@@SonnyLT Does it have a CCC or MASK II unit?
Thank you for making this video!!
Thank You for sharing, that is very informative!
I have same problem but After i seen this video .. I just reject the CD desk from the ccc and the screen is back to work 😂😂
Mantap bro...never expected this faceplate could be the culprit!!
What? I don't have another front panel to test with but I unpluged the ribbon cable to see if it woud work. It didn't work. Anyone else have any luck with this method?
sheeeeeeesh i almost bought one, gotta try this first
Let us know if it worked for you
Did it had iDrive unit? Thnx
Yo! I thought it was the HDD, swapped out for an SSD and same, it kept rebooting at the BMW logo. I took it apart again and while tinkering I decided to test it disassembled and behold everything worked flawlessly, disconnecting the face plate fixed my issues too. I guess I got an SSD out of the investment, now it boots up faster. Your video did confirm my theory, thanks!
Man thank u so much for making this video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just did this for my 2010 320i and it's working fine now! I haven't replaced the unit yet I just disconnected the ribbon cable until I find a replacement but it still works now. Awesome video thanks so much man.!
Best video about ccc unit , u just save for some people time and money , good job
anyone got fix for flash and black screen? the ccc was fine but i tried to add apple carplay box in and I unplugged the CCC unit and when i took out gps/radio black blue cable the screen faded and never came back thanks
Carplay/andriod screens/boxes kill ccc units they just can't handle the extra work.
Thanks for this video this just happened to me. Now I know what to legend
Is this job expensive
No
I have the old ccc. What do you think, will it work on it too?
mine still doesn’t woro
This problem is very rare, 90% of the time it's software or hardware problems with the motherboard
Will this work on 528i
I did the swap on a 528i, so it would. It should work on any idrive system.
I will try this out, my '12 m3 has the same issue constant i dribe reboot every 10 min
Will it work for you, same issue?
Sharp Shenk for president!
😁😁
Well done, thanks for making the video
unfortunately didn't work for me, i unplugged my volume panel ribbon and it still reboots :( thanks for the confidence to take this apart though
did you find a fix mines the same
@@BradLeviLagus I had to buy a new / used ccc unit.
@@lSTEEF i bought one and it still doesn’t work
@@BradLeviLagusBest getting a repair that way you have warranty
E91. 11/2008 M-Ask2 withe the bootloop problem. Don't know how to solve the problem
What! No way dude- I’ve been going down the rabbit hole with the same problems as you ! I can’t thank you enough for letting the people know to look outside the “ccc box” haha
My screen is on reboot for almost 2 yrs now 😅 will try to follow your video and pray it get fixed 🙏
Do let us know the outcome.
Didn’t work for me mate 😕 I changed the climate control panel unit and the screen still reboots mine is a bmw 1 series 2014 oh well at least I tried
@@ninezero9066what does climate control has to do with idrive? Why would you change it? It literally shows in the video what to change
Try the IBS sensor
Awesome, mine just started doing this after I replaced the bluetooh module in the trunk. lol, will give it a try. thank you.
unfortunately didnt work for me. Cost me $220 to get the motherboard rebuilt from a guy in uk
You could have bought a used one from your nearest junkyard for much less.
@@sharpshenk3794 I looked into it but after getting it recoded to my car it would have been more expensive plus you risk the same thing happening again anyday. where the rebuilt motherboard has the weak points upgraded and i got a warranty so im happy
You don't need to recode it. Just get the one that looks like the one you have already and it will fit nicely and work perfectly without any coding. In case anyone else is facing similar choices.
@@sharpshenk3794 no how these work bud each unit is coded to the vehicle order. So unless you get it from the exact same spec car youll end up with options greyed out or no sound etc
Will try the faceplate on my F30 and see if that will work, thanks.
did it work?
@@josepadilla3236 bought a spare one, will try it in couple of months when I return to my country.
You just saved a minimum of 1,000 bucks, ily
ok
Thanks for the public service announcement, I had same problem and bought a used ccc, that didn't work either then I found this video and pulled it apart and found the solder for the plug between the boards came right off, resoldered them and its fixed,, wish I had seen this video earlier in my search, saved me a right headache trying to diagnose it
Could you be more specific, was it obvious to see? I would be really curious to know because I'm about to repair this problem too. Any insight to what you soldered would be appreciated
@@percypig3358 there is something that connects some terminals of the top and the bottom PCB together, it clips in but the solder on the 8 feet that solders it to the board can come off and may need resoldering. Once you pull it apart you will know
Is this in the face plate area or in the CCC Box where the solder came loose ?
Interesting! And you say you have tried without any facia and it does boot up?
Removing the faulty fascia does not stop it from rebooting, I tested with my working unit. so its not a good way to diagnose
@@kaisersosak2371 Yeah, I agree.
That will work on bmw e90 2005 ccc system? I have same problem it rebooting again and again ….plz help
You'll have to try it first. You may want to disconnect the front panel and turn ignition on.
I wonder if this would work for my 2014 4 series because mines keep going g through the reboot cycle as well but won’t get any further.
thanks dude!!!
is there a way you can replace the ribbon cable with out replacing the whole ccc unit? my dumbass ripped it out of the radio player in accident
Thanks so much for sharing this. I'm going to try this.
You are welcome. Do let us know if it works.

@@adrianromero4091 Maybe you should get a used screen from Ebay for less than $50. It is an easy fix that should take you 10 minutes.
Good video very informative but couldn't hear you too low
I have a 2007 bmw 550i my ccc is acting up I'm pretty sure the screen keeps trying to boot then kicking off the part is 1500 dollars is there a way I can use a different face that doesn't match my old one
$1,500??? Man! Someone's trying to fleece you of your hard earned greens! You can swap out the front panel for far much less if that is the issue in your case. What's your location? If you are in my area, I could help you take a look at it.
ill try this as i am out of options but seems like a very overloooked problem so i thank you for that
No harm in trying. Kindly let us know the outcome of your experiment.
Thank you sooo much my ccc is starting to do that
So is he saying to replace just the black part or the box panel aswell?
My CCC was going very slow and I couldn't find the cause. The memory and eject buttons didn't work either. Watching your video I checked the data cable that connects to the front plate and it finally works correctly. Thanks a lot.
I am glad it worked for you. Thumbs up.
Which one is the data cable?
So I have had no screen and sound stopped. I have another ccc unit that needed coding. So just use the new faceplate on my original body?
Yes. That's what I did.
@@sharpshenk3794 it worked! I still haven't gotten the screen on but it's not in sos at least
@@jeffgombosi6837 Your screen might be turned off. There is a setting for it, I don't remember how to get there on a blank screen but I think I or maybe someone else mentioned it here somewhere.
@@jeffgombosi6837 Try the buttons on your steering wheel to see if it turns back on, or the buttons on your radio unit too. Goodluck!
@@sharpshenk3794 I’ll try it out
Will try this, either way top tip m8 Thank you.
