ZRT 800 Lake Drags
Video of me ripping the ZRT around Buds in Mi. Ice drags! I know the video is a little long, but I edited a lot of it out as you can tell. By the time this was shot the ice was chewed up real bad at the start, and I had to let off every time out of the hole… on the return strip the ice was in good shape and I would hook right away. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching!

      Yes 99’s are just fine! Little clutch work and jetting they’ll run great. The last couple years is where they really de tuned them cat triples, and they just take more “finesse” to make “quick”😂 like the 01-02’s. 00’s are hit or miss out of the box, 99’s are first year for that new body style and they’re usually pretty good. When I was a kid my dad had a 99 Thundercat and it was super stout. You’ll be happy with it. If it’s bone stock the best things I would say to do to “wake it up” a little bit would be jetting, clutch kit/clutch work, 2° advanced timing key, gut the airbox (but leave the foam), aftermarket track and studs (if it doesn’t already have those), aftermarket silencer but leave stock pipes on, and v force reeds. You do those few things to it, it’ll be an absolute animal for never cracking the heads and having a stock motor, still run on 93 octane, and still be trail friendly and reliable.

      Love it man! These 800’s are rocket ships. Cat actually underrated these 800’s back in the day. The 800 and 900 motor are virtually identical. They’re realistically only about 12hp down from the 1000’s… cool little fact a lot of people don’t know.

      Aftermarket track, 196 studs, primary clutch has aftermarket spring and weights, secondary clutch is out of a 1000 tcat, boysen reeds, stinger silencer. Stock pipes… I’m going to rejet and re sync the carbs come next fall because I want to gut the airbox, and do a 2° key adjustment for timing. Motor is all stock tho. 3,100 miles on chassis and motor. Heads have never been cracked.

    Very nice sled!! I'm a zrt fan starting from.their best year in 96. Had a 96 zrt 600. Also had a 2000 600. Always wanted an 800 zrt. The sound those 800's make is like no other. Just the perfect sound bone stock.

      95-98 ZRT’s are the best years for sure. This sled has aftermarket silencer, stock pipes. It’s actually kinda hard to find the ZRT 800’s. You’ll find 600’s all day. Came across this a little while ago and couldn’t pass it up. Love the sled. It’s a freak too.

      @crsracing1313 the 95's were junk that os a fact. Have to admit that, but after that, they were a force to be reckoned with. I raced 700's with my 600 and walked them everyday every time. They were awesome.

    • @crsracing1313
      @crsracing1313 11 місяців тому

      @@ecoboostrules9795 96 is arguably the best year for the 600 ZRT. They’re stout for 600’s no doubt. Lot of people don’t know this, but the reason the ZRT 800 was most winning sled in the late 90’s is because they were underrated for power. They advertised the 800’s at 150hp, the 900’s at 162, and the 1000’s at 172. The 800’s actually made just under 160hp or right at the mark. Cat did this so the 800’s would dominate their class and keep up with the thundercat 900’s. The 900 motor, and the 800 motor are virtually identical. Touch more bore with the 900, but everything else is identical. Even the stroke is the same. If you can find an 800 pick one up. Kinda harder to find a little bit but they run real hard… this 800 is even a little bit of a freak. So since it was new it was a touch more stout than average. Got lucky when I bought it. Didn’t know if it was gonna be a dog, average, or a freak. Only a couple sleds behind my dad’s thundercat at 100mph. On ice, he’s toast. Good snow up to about 70 were dead even. Those thundercat 1000’s just don’t stop pulling after 70. Top end is crazy…

    • @crsracing1313
      @crsracing1313 Рік тому

      Common misconception people tend to do is put aftermarket pipes on these cats without cracking the heads… unless you’re porting, polishing, and adding more compression, or running a big bore kit, aftermarket pipes will lose power. Sure they’ll carry out to 9,000 rpm but you’re losing power on stock internals… more trouble than that they’re worth. For these stock cat triples where the heads have never been cracked, keep the stock pipes and run aftermarket silencers to get rid of that big box can, and re jet the carbs to fit it. You’ll make more power that way than throwing aftermarket pipes on. All the cat triple pipes were tuned pipes from the factory👍🏻

Frame off resto when it was done. That’s when they built trans and 360 was built up at that time as well. My grandpa bought it this way. Only thing he did was add the red decals, and the vintage styler ram air scoops on the hood👍🏻
