The BatCycle Demo: Rotations after first set of Triangles installed
Переглядів 10 тис.3 роки тому
Join us in our BeadALong to learn this form! beadmobile.wordpress.com/2021/05/01/batcycle-beadalong-pattern-download/ The BatCycle was discovered in 2017 by Claudia Furthner, and this demo in progress was designed and beaded by Kate McKinnon. Before the second set of Triangles is installed, the cycle has many possible stages, including flat flexagons.
How to Make a Warped Hexagon
Переглядів 15 тис.3 роки тому
A new bead-by-bead animation from Julia Pretl that shows how to create a Warped Hexagon. We use precision cylinder beads in size 11 for most of our work, but of course any beads will work. This animation is notable for how true-to-life it feels. Warped forms can be tangly, grumpy, and it's easy to miss step-ups when we are unfamiliar with the process. However, following these clear instructions...
How to make a Peyote Warped Square
Переглядів 19 тис.4 роки тому
Julia Pretl animated the process of building a peyote-stitched Warped Square for the Contemporary Geometric Beadwork Open Source Library. Please feel free to share as you like! You can choose to reinforce the center start with a few passes (or a knot, if that's your style) or you can wait to do that later when you finish. If you like your squares energetic, springy and cupped, by all means make...

How To Make A PodCast Bead
Переглядів 20 тис.4 роки тому
An animation by Julia Pretl for Contemporary Geometric Beadwork that shows how to build a PodCast Bead, a tool we use for "casting off" new work. We will add sound and notes to this for a full tutorial, but for now, I'd like comments - could you make a PodCast just from seeing this? We used size 8 round beads for the center ring and size 11 Delica cylinder beads for the body. It's best to use t...

In a sneak peek of one of the new book projects, Kate takes off a spiral coil, a spine and a Rick-Rack from a PodCast Bead - all done in 2-drop peyote and herringbone. FIND A FREE PATTERN for a 2-Drop PodCast Bead, the core of this Exploding Set, on our website: beadmobile.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/two-drop-podcast-draft-release.pdf Building a coil while the Spine is still on the Pod is perha...
Capturing a Wave Section into Geometric Chain Links
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
From the EXPLODING PODCAST SET #1 (full video tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/8cr6NhqyTbQ/v-deo.html) How to Geometrically Capture a 24-Point Wave Section into a set of geometric chain links that fold flat, or express as a wave in either direction. After Capture, the outside edge of the Wave Section remains unbroken (which is kind of fun to think about, and to fold). This is a great technique -...
Video Excerpt: Deconstructing a Square Spiral Bangle from a PodCast Bead
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
A short video excerpt of a study of Square Spirals underway on the CGB Team - this piece was our inspiration, and it was designed and crafted by Joy Davison, also known as JayDee on social media. This piece was made as a bangle, and we are now making it (and other shocking increase/decrease patterns) as long, straight spirals so we can study them properly. Please send photos of your own spirals...
Video Excerpt: Adding an MRAW Band to an edge
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
Yes! You can add an MRAW Band to a piece in progress, either on a straight edge or a round bangle. This is how. I am working on the Wave Section of my Exploding PodCast Set, and so far I have built a Circular Casting Spine (exactly to my bangle size) and two straight sizing bands (exactly to my straight bracelet size). I am adding an MRAW Band to the top Sizing Band, and then I will remove the ...
A PodCast Bead Surprise

A giant All-Wing / Rick-Rack Jumps into a PodCast Bead form: I made this form in 2013, but it wasn't until I tacked its edges together in 2019 that I saw the PodCast Bead form leap out at me. Incredible!

Exploding PodCast Set, STEP 4: The Last Step: TWO CASTING SPINES
Переглядів 12 тис.4 роки тому
In this step, we finish the Rick-Rack section (I did the minimum 6 rounds for this section), weave in our thread to finish the section, and add two Casting Spine starts to the PodCast Set so far. This will be the last step before we Deconstruct for the next tasks, which will be to place Stitch -In-The-Ditch rounds on each of the two straight Casting Spines while they are still six rounds of pli...

I'm watching slack-jawed and dumbfounded. I just watched your videos on how to make a warped square and hexagon and triangles. Those looked easy. Now that I see what they do, I think I ought not be watching at bed time, when my brain is already fried. LOL! I'll watch the series when I'm better rested. Ha ha!

This was very useful to see demonstrated! Now that I've used a casting spine successfully for my star spiral, I feel like this isn't too crazy to try to attempt. Fantastic work providing this content for adventurous and curious beaders <3

I've gotten to the point where I have completed and assembled 5 kaleidocycles now. I've done slightly different join methods for each, and I'm gaining so much from coming back and re-watching this video now that I feel I'm more fluent in the understanding of what's happening with my machine. Thank you so much for taking the time to publish this video (even 4 years later as I'm watching and rewatching it over the last year!)
