I know a lot of people would consider it sacrilege, but I think that a Mosin Nagant or similar bolt action rifle would be awesome with this sort of heavily decorated furniture. I like matchlock/flintlock/powder rifles, just not in practice lol. Also, I was pleased to hear some Ravi Shankhar around the 16:00 mark (not exact, but oh well) It's Dadra right?

The commentary around 8 minutes in is far from Kentish. The language is far closer to a Guy Ritchie film than a West Country numptie.

Ridley shows how language and literacy drive culture not the other way around. It also makes Orwells 1984 newspeak absolutely terrifying.

No blade of grass is better, different but better...tho i have had a fascination for all apocalyptic films since i was around 7yrs. Fortunately for me sci fi and horror is saturated with end of the world fiction. Riddley walker as a movie...its a wonder it already hasnt been made. After all, theres been much lesser stories in a similar vein made and realised..

Superb well edited video with a cracking cause. Been going to The Gambia for many years doing my own charity work on my own terms, I don't give to large charities any more and prefer to find causes in these places and give direct, no administration costs and no board of directors taking 75%, the people I help get 100%. Keep it going, looking forward to the next one

Wonderful series of videos. I imagine it would require a director who'd be willing to create a cinematic reply to, rather than a replication of, the novel.

your father's novel is my favourite book of all time! I read it 2 years ago when I was 23 and found it astonishing. I know this word is thrown around a lot but I genuinely think it's a masterpiece. I work in publishing now, but 'riddley walker' encouraged me to keep working on my writing too. your musical theatre interpretation sounds really interesting! :)

I read Riddley Walker when a Methodist minister lent me the book, saying that he thought I'd like it because of my interest in language. I of course was startled on seeing the first pages, but sticking with it was able to figure out that it was some kind of hypothetical British English dialect. In time I got accustomed to it, and more and more found the story completely engrossing, finally brilliant. When on finishing reading I handed the book back to the minister, he expressed surprise that I had actually finished it, as all the other friends he had lent it to gave up early on!
