This is a Classical tune composed by Johann Mattheson for harpsichord, transcribed to D minor for C/G Anglo concertina.
This video is my submission for International Concertina Association‘s World Concertina Day online concert.

A Chinese folk tune. The title literally means “The Osmanthus Blossom in the 8th month.” The tune is about the happiness of family reunion and the harvest. Notice the 8th month in Chinese calendar is about late September and early October in Gregorian. Recorded in Changchun, China on Nov 13, 2022.

Inspired by Kato Toru‘s work(ua-cam.com/video/mxn8n5Shu4M/v-deo.html), but I almost got crazy about to play the tune in C minor like he did. So I just escaped from Kato’s video and arranged this E minor version, to reach an easier fingering and more even accompaniments. This is probably not a good arrangement, which is, even myself can’t play it well. Hoping I can make some improvements on this...

After read the original Playford's book, I decided not to be a "dancing maſter" since I'm not going to "kiſſ" any one when dancing! Instrument: Bastari/Stagi W40-MS. This concertina wax purchased from Taniguchi Music of Tokyo, Japan. I believe there are dealers all over the world though.
Meant with the best of intentions..... All the notes and harmonies are there and are good but you need to concentrate a bit more on phrasing and emphasis ie. lifting the tune on the beat. By far the best way of learning this is by playing for live dancing at every opportunity. Keep on squeezing fella :<)

Hey I'm looking to buy a concertina: can this be played on a 20 keys concertina or do you need 30? What are good but cheap concertinas to buy? I want to buy like a really cheap one to try and if I like it then I'll pay for a better one if needed.
20 key Anglos are diatonic instruments. This tune contains chromatic phrases which require at least 30 buttons to reach all those flats and sharps, and chords. There are budget 30 keys which you can try on though.

I did not think it was possible to play baroque music like this on a concertina, super cool! The effect from moving the concertina in a circle was also very creative and sounded cool and I have never seen that done before. Thank you for sharing this great performance.
