thank you and God Bless you too...
This amp seems to be discontinued or out of stock where I live. Could you recommend an alternative that’s similar, thanks.
I know of no current amp in it's price range that would be an equivalent. The Bandit was the workhorse amp for decades among musicians on a budget. The only other solid state amp I have owned that I loved as much was a Marshall MG 50, but I have no experience with the newer versions, or whether they are worth the asking price. The other amp you might check out is a Boss Katana; that seems to be the modern workhorse SS amp today. It is a modelling amp, and has tons more ""bells and whistles" than I care for, but if I remember right you can sort of ignore that and just actually use the amp itself, and not all that other mess. Neither of those amps are anything like the Bandit; they each have their own distinct personality. Honestly, i would go to a local music store of some type and just look for amps in my price range. Plug into them and just play them. Use your ears to find what you like. MHO.
@@mikebakermusic Thanks for the detailed reply. Not too much in the local stores where I live, but point taken. Will go dig up things as much as possible. Cheers.
@@mikebakermusic Weird, my previous reply just vanished. Not too many amps on display in stores where I live, but will give it a go. Thanks for the reply.
Sometimes you have to work with what you have.
Thank you Mike.
Thank you.
Great demo
I had the gsp7
I had the GSP 5 as well. Really basic, but it did the job.
Sounds good to me
love it! Well done Mike👍
Thanks!
Yo Mike! I dig your channel! Keep posting them!!
Thank you.
I got one for free. It's amazing for lap steel and general fx. I'm using it quite a bit.
Awesome!
Glad to see that hand healing Mike. God Bless!!!
Thanks very much! Me too!
Glad to see your hand healed up! I've been jonesin' for some Hand Tool Wood Working and some Mike Baker Music. Good to have you back!
Thank you! Bless you!
Cool.
How u plug it in
I liked it unmodified and modified. I thought it was brighter after the mod. Love that you are playing an acoustic guitar, that's what I need a microphone for. :)
Don’t get why ppl remove the inner screen… the most expensive mics have three layers of it and nobody removes one or two layers of then. Total head scratcher
I bought one the other day. The screws holding on the screen had one screw missing and one screw stripped out. Just poor workmanship? Will have to retap for 4-40 screws in that. I did the electronic mods to it. Removed the switch board as recommended. Now to the mechanicals. I need to figure out a shock isolation for the mic cart. None of the mods address isolating the mic element from the rest. It is mounted hard onto the base, so any small touch of the mic comes out as noise. I took the baffle off the element of a 219 but for the time being I will leave it on the 319. You could unsolder the wires from the board without cutting them to remove the resonator as I don't want to get anywhere near the diaphram with a hot iron!
Got the 219 and modded the heck out of it electronics and all. Now got one of these on order and will mod it too. Might even put an AKG element in that I have laying around. Figure it is a bit better than a cheap Chinese mic to start modding.
Dear Mike: great job--thanks for sharing your talent. I'm an old guy trying to learn and your tutorials and song choices are perfect. I look forward to going hrough your lessons and tutorials. Eugene (from Australia)
Thanks, and welcome!
I've had the MK-220 laying around for quite a while now, similar but not the same mic. It never sounded like anything too special, very dry and dark, although I do prefer it as a drum overhead compared to the small diaphragm condensers I've used in the past. I just finished taking out the resonators (dual diaphragm) and I'm removing the inner mesh as I type this. Hearing your "after" sample pushed me to begin that process. I recognized the before sound, can't wait to hear how mine will sound after finishing. I wish removing the mesh wasn't so destructive.. Thanks for the video!
I would be interested in your thoughts. I'm really pleased with the results I got, but it's freakishly scary to do, especially when you realize that thin diaphragm is not protected while you fiddle with a bunch of little screws around it, lol.
@@mikebakermusic Yeah, those flat head screws are not ideal for critical components like that. I modded the 220 with no issues. I did slip a couple times away from the diaphragm, extremely scary. It sounds great though! I then found a used 319 at GC to mod, but I unfortunately slipped and lightly dinged the diaphragm. woops! They're surprisingly cheap used. I'm ordering another one now to see how it affects the sound. If they sound close enough, I'll probably keep the pair as overheads and use the 220 for room or in front of the kick.
The mk-219 and 319 have the same diaphram
Hi Mike great job. Can you write out a tab just for the intro so I can get it exact? Again great job! Ryan
Thank you. Sorry, I don't use TAB, everything I do is by ear.
Just put a deposit on one of these, this video really helped me understand how to use it better than others. Thanks so much!🤘🏼
awesome, they are great guitars.
i have the same color peavey raptor as yours...all stock for now... the factory mistakenly wired the middle pup backwards so 2 and 4 are out of phase...wild thing is i like the sound lol! im gonna put better pups in it in the future but will purpously wire the mid backwards so i can still get that outta phase sound in 2 and 4....
That out of phase sound has been quite popular thru the years. I remember a lot of 80s guitars used to come with a phase switch.
@@mikebakermusic was peter greens "lemon drop" les paul a "happy accident" or was it outta pase on purpose? looks like the whole pickup(neck)is backwards...physically...but wouldnt it also need to be wired backward as well?
Good video. Brought back memories. Nice job!
Thank you.
awesome video Mike !!! I read that this pedal was the "first multi effect processor" that boss released...I didnt even know these were ever made? I found your video because i was researching this pedal to maybe buy online. I love older vintage gear like this. I am quite a collector myself of old effects processors. Thx for the cool video and the help in my buying decision today !!!
Awesome.
Very Nice my friend, very top boost sound of the Vox amp i really like the tones coming ouf of that speaker great job again my friend
Hi, Gino! Thanks. I love your new "handle" bluesriff suits you. I'm glad you are still playing with your Dad. Cherish that, my friend.
@@mikebakermusic we had some good Time yesterday after a long while due to the pandemic! I don’t play often cause i really don’t like to play in font of an audiance(stage etc...) but in a radio station the audience is there but They don’t see you.
Nice vid my man!
Thank you!
Was able to grab one out of Georgia about 10 years ago. Really enjoy it.
Awesome
Nice video awesome job!
Thanks, ANDRE.
Hi Mike. I once had a mid 1980's B.C Rich Bich Platinum Series in this same finish, UltraViolet. I always liked the Warlock shape better though .\m/
This guitar and I are old friends. It too is a Platinum series, but a friend and I put a Floyd on it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I had this one. It was amazing.
There's nothing you really need it doesn't have.
@@mikebakermusic well, the lack of an expression pedal and the acoustic emulator was an issue 😅
Yeah, I never use either of those, so they never even entered my mind. I gigged that unit for several years and it always gave me everything I needed. Horses for courses.
Nice vid! Do you know what foot switch i can use for this? Thanks
Any midi capable footswitch/controller should work.
@@mikebakermusic sweet thanks new sub
Thank you
Really cool
Thanks!
How 'bout a little more reverb? 😄
Always more!
👍👍
I have looked at a lot of loop switch pedals, but I've never come across the Boss PSM-5 before. It seems that Boss was ahead of their time when it comes to loop switching! A video is always a good video when I learn something new, thank you!
Thanks, Marshall!
!!!
Wow great tone, finally done whit it great results
Thanks, Gino! I'm happy with it.
Good videos! The only thing I would say about this one is that the power supply is one place you don't want to sacrifice. I have a one spot, and it works great for some things, but even with cheaper pedals (sometimes especially with cheaper ones) you really need isolated power outputs. I have used a number of less expensive options when it comes to power supplies and after fighting with a couple pedals that did not play nice with each other, I found the problems to be with non-isolated power outputs on the power supply. I know that $100 sounds like a lot to get power from an outlet to a bunch of pedals, but remember, a lot of the pedals on a guitarist's board cost around $100 if not more and the isolated option eliminates a lot of headaches before they start. You don't have to spend $200-400 on a Friedman, VooDoo Labs or Stealth Tech power supply, but saving up for, or buying something like a Mini Iso-Brick instead of that next overdrive or reverb pedal is probably a better option. With a lot of cheap, Chinese pedals available now on Amazon and other sites, there just isn't the quality control that there are on, say an MXR or Electro-Harmonix pedal. And that can, and does, cause problems that can be headed off before they start. Just something to think about. God bless.
Great info....I bought one new in the 90s...it does still hold its own.
Thank you, and thanks for watching and commenting!
Another good one, enjoyed very much! 👍
Thanks, Jim!
!!!
Very good the solo you took on it, your guitar has upgrades in the pickups
Thank you. No, no upgrades, these are the stock pickups that came in the guitar.
Very nice effect processor
Thanks, Gino!
Another great performance Mike! Thanks for the music!
Hi, Jim! Thanks for watching!
Great review and great playing. I have one too , the 412V later model. That 412 was made only in 1997. Then they made more again in 2004-2008. The PAC 412V made in Korea. I heard it’s was not profitable to make so many models. So it was discontinued. They have a unique look to it.
They do indeed. And every one I've played have been really great guitars
Thanks for another improv Mike, enjoyed it.
Thanks, jim
Enjoyed for second time!!👍👍👍
Honored, Jim
Great impro playing my friend very nice rich tones out of that guitar
Thanks, Gino. She is my #1; just feels like home.
!!!
good stuff Mike. A bit of a Pink Floyd Division Bell flavor here. I liked it!
Thanks a lot Jeff!
