Hi and welcome to my channel!
My name is Shem and I decided to start this UA-cam channel to give something back. I frequently use UA-cam for various video guides and tutorials, and thought that it would be a good idea to contribute to this vast knowledge-base.
Most of the videos here will be concerned with upgrades and maintenance of my lightweight adventure motorbike, Honda CRF250L. At some point in the future I may also do some maintenance videos for my cruiser bike, Honda VT1100C2 Shadow.
Apart from these, you may also find some Snowboarding, Mountain Biking and Off-road Motorcycling action videos.
Enjoy!

very useful! often no one thinks about conseguence and to be prepared is the best thing ever. Also true that in adventure something happend even you have planned all. The trail covered by tall grass is one of most dangerous condition in enduro riding, you don't know what's hidden: stones, big roots, ect
great and useful video! you have done in june, isn't it? how many days to complete the TET Pyrenees from start point to the end? (I guess you have done a circle with different way and back) thanks!
This is essential info (thanks!)
Thank you, brother
Just buy the usb with honda plug already attached 😂 plug in and done. This was to much work that's not needed.
Hi Shem can you share your instagram please i would like to ask you a few questions .
really helpful video dude thanks
Thank you, thank you, thank you for such an informative video!
I have author gang 24:00
Excellent video with detail and good pace. The shifter position section has some helpful advice because some factory positions are too low, which can lead to accidental up shifts. I installed the red Moose Racing foldable gear shifter on my 2014 Honda CRF250L to replace the bent factory shifter. The Moose shifter feels a lot better compared to the factory shifter.
nice video will be watching all the others, what tyres are you using ?
Great video! Which it´s the wind shield?

Thank you, glad it was useful. I don't tend to provide links because the assortment of shops changes over time, and the place you may want to buy will be different depending on which country you live in. So you need to do a Google search of the shops available in your location and determine the best vendor yourself. All the best!

Could you please tell us which boots you wore when the accident occurred?
Sure. I was using Forma Terra Evo Boots which as not as rigid as proper MX boots, but the are one of the most rigid adventure boots you can get. I was wondering if having a proper MX boot would have prevented this injury but I'm doubtful... after all, my left foot got twisted left and even the most rigid boots cannot prevent if from happening as it not anchored anywhere, it will just spin around your shin. Any thoughts? Saying that, having more rigid boots wouldn't hurt. This is the reason why I have recently purchased the Gaerne SG-12. All the best!
Thanks for your thorough reply. I agree, no boot could prevent that kind of twisting. I use the Alpinestars Tech 7s when riding off-road. Very rigid boots but extremely comfortable. I believe both Tech 7s and Gaerne SG-12s provide similar protection. Hope you are fine now and enjoying your riding on dirt again. All the best! @@Shem
@@MotonJoy I've tried the Tech 7s, but they did not feel comfortable on my feet. They had a hard 'bulge' in the middle of the foot, on the inner side. I presume this makes them a better fit with some foot shapes but it did not at all work for me. I did not have this issue with the SG-12, so I went with them instead. All the best!
Adventure boots have way too much flex. Always wear good quality MX boots
A great video, thanks for posting it.
Thanks!
Hi Shem (Pszemek?) This is a very valuable video for motorbike travellers, thank you for your effort. I travelled also from the UK to Alps a few times, this year planning to to go to Pyrenees and your experience just get me thinking about all the details you mentioned about the insurance and TET difficulties. Insurance details are very important (especially that I travel on my own). I may need to amend my plans slightly :), thank you for very detailed explanations. Also, I noticed that you and your friend from Spain use 21Brothers luggage systems. As they as solid as they say? There is a company called Redmamut and I am considering their product or 21Brothers for the next trips.
Thank you for your kind words. Indeed, it is Przemek :). Yes, for the next off-road trip abroad I will definitely pay more attention to the insurance aspects. I've been using the 21 Brothers Luggage for over 2 years now and I have been really happy with it. The weight is pretty good vs the amount of space that if offers, and it is fully waterproof. During one on my crashes, one of the bottom straps was ripped of from one side of the luggage, but this could happen to any luggage under these conditions. So all in all I'm happy with it. I've never come across Redmamut, so I cannot comment regarding how it compares. All the best!
Thank you and my apologies for the typo. Thanks a lot for your opinion about the bag, I am considering buying now. All the best with your new adventures !@@Shem
Where did you get the black plastics for your bike? Love your content :)
Thanks. The black plastics are stock, Honda sold this bike in the UK in two colourways - Red and Black.

I was under the impression you couldn't jump start if you had a lithium battery
There's only 1 'i' in aluminum Borat.
Moral of the story. TeT on your own in another country specifically if you don’t speak the language is a bad idea. Glad that you had people with you who could help.
Yup, you have a point here. I'm too glad I had kind people around me.
how much fuel and water where you carrying ? What about shopping ?
Approx. 13l in the tank. The bike's average consumption is 3.7l per 100km. I had 3l of water in the hydrobag located in my backpack. There were plenty of opportunities to fuel up and purchase groceries. Pyrenes are quite touristy, so there is plenty of infrastructure around.
Very WELL done, Shem. Though you confess to only being a novice rider, you do your homework like an engineer. Regarding suspension damping, my understanding is that the role of a shock absorber is to dampen spring oscillation ... and that the shock absorber should restrict spring oscillation to ONE oscillating cycle i.e. not allow the spring to continue oscillating (resulting in that porpoising after hitting road imperfections). Ride safely within your comfort zone while learning ... so you get home in one piece!
Thank you for your kind words Mike! Regarding riding safely, few months back I ended up breaking my leg while riding across via Pyrenees. If you have nothing better to do, you can see 3-part video from this trip here: ua-cam.com/video/xOdKfUy3Ojo/v-deo.html All the best, Shem

Thank you for your kind words Ron. I'm not planning to make a living out of UA-cam, so I'm in not rush to get subscribers. Just glad that there are some people out there that find the content useful. All the best!
Thanks for the video. I bought my crf250l used from dealer with Acerbus tank already installed by previous owner. I disconnected rear tank mounting bolts to lift rear of tank for access and noticed when reconnecting the tank it was binding a bulky wiring harness on left side. Did you run into this problem?
I’ve done this a while back so I cannot be sure but I do recall a think harness of wires on the left side. I don’t think it was binding but it was quite close to the side of tank. Good luck with sorting it 👍
You are the kindest man I’ve ever met - Hospital threw you out and you call it «not ideal» 😁 Thanks for an amazing trip, looking forward to the next one!
Not sure about kindest, but it definitely takes a lot of effort to annoy/upset me ;)
I really wonder what to do in similar situation when you are travelling on your own.
My point exactly. On the other hand if there is a will, there is a way. Having backup funds definitely helps is situations like this.

Why did Johannes go with the road tyres, that can’t have helped his cause, no wonder he kept binning it. Defo need to go and ride in Spain, tempted to head to the Picos. How much was the ferry in total for a return trip? Thanks for sharing, nice watching!
Thanks. I think Johannes had to cover a lot of motorway miles between Germany and France. He was concerned that more off-road orientated tires my get bold by the time he gets to our meeting point. I've booked the return trip months in advance, and paid £600 in total (£220 of that was for the cabin). My friends who booked the ferry much later, had to pay closer to £800 in total. So it is not exactly cheap! Where about are you based in the UK?
@@Shem I'm in Suffolk so thinking of perhaps riding there down thru France, that's quite a ride tho including toll roads. We've also considered driving there with the bikes in a trailer but then we need to find somewhere to leave the car and trailer while we go and do the Picos. I have Motoz Rallz on my T7 and they are claimed to be good for 5000 miles. Ive got 3000 on mine and they still have loads left so there are knobbly options which won't be killed by motorway miles. Thanks for the reply, it's very helpful, made me think about the options
@@twowheeledadventuresuk2739I fit some clapped-out tyre and order a new one to be picked up at the destination, the long road ride on a "nicer" tyre and a more agressive off-road one like a Metzeler 6 days for the trails.

Not sure what you mean - they sound quite different.
This was excellent! Well done gents! Johannes did well on that huge T700, but the CRF is the bike for this - Off to watch PT2 now!
Thank you, appreciate the comment 😁. Yes, despite all my UK friends having mid-weight ADV bikes, I’ve never felt that my CRF250L is inadequate and I need a bigger bike. If anything, I’m now thinking if I can get even lighter bike - something like adventureised KTM 500 EXC - short of 110kg dry sounds very appealing 😂 Do you still ride the CRF250 Rally?
