Tokina 16.5-135mm Zoom on Sony a6400 FHD
This is the original camera file uploaded directly to UA-cam. I used my current PP10. I ran this test at 1080p because I was short of space. I will try another test at 4K later.

20240905 Tokina AT-X 16.5-135 F3.5-5.6 DX Lens Exam
Переглядів 7День тому
I believe this lens came out about 10 years ago. It was a DSLR lens available on Nikon and Canon mounts. I have not heard of it becoming available on other mounts. With a size of 78mm (W) x 84mm (L) and weighing 610 grams one might think it is almost contemporary, but that does not include the mount adapter. I consider it a very good lens, but not excellent.
240905 Toronto Night-Morning Time Lapse Sony a6400 with Canon FD 50
Переглядів 8День тому
A time lapse using my Sony a6400 with my Canon FD 50mm F1.4 lens. This is a manually focused lens. It was left at F1.4 which is not very sharp, but good enough for this video. Gamma HLG3, Color Mode 709, Saturation 0, exposure 2, camera mode S&Q. Direction roughly south and up about 60 deg., start ~4:02

20240529 Summer Flowers in Toronto Parks [Canon R40]
Переглядів 714 днів тому
"This was recorded on a Canon R40 on May 29, 2024 (which I think is "mid- summer". I don't know what kind of flower this is. It is common in the Toronto parks lately. If you don't do gardening, you might not know that these flowers are governed by "fashion". The flowers in shops, perhaps five years ago, might not be in the shops today. If you know what flowers these are, I'd appreciate it if yo...
20240818 Toronto Night to Morning Time Lapse Sony a6400
Переглядів 221 день тому
Due to recent weather patterns I decided to extend my series of "time-lapse" recordings. I am not expecting to add many, but I'll see what happens. The last couple of months have had a lot of rain and now Toronto is having a week of cool, sunny weather. Unreliable software lengthened my process for this clip from a projected half day to over one day. Hopefully things will go better in the futur...
240818 Panasonic GF3 (Test Version)

Recorded using Nikon 1 S2. This file was a test of the Nikon and only a start of a report on the GF3. The lens shown in the video is the Olympus 15mm F8.0 "Body-cap Lens." I do not know when I will have time to finish the report, so I decided to upload this much for now.
20240814 Toronto Night to Morning Time Lapse Sony a6400

I expect this to be the last of this series of Time-Lapse posts. I tried the a6400 with 20mm F2.8 lens again, with a frame rate of 1 fps. This time with PP7 (Slog2) and a EV= 2.0 exposure. In this record mode, EV 2 is its maximum adjustment. The 1/30th sec. maximum exposure has not changed. Sky conditions were clearer. There was no substantial increase in stars visible. Due to problems with my ...
2024-08-13 Toronto Time-Lapse on Variably Cloudy Night
Переглядів 17Місяць тому
Recent weeks have been cloudy. I was hoping to record more stars, but between the limits of this setup and the sky, I can only say that I am glad that the clouds provide some interest. As far as I know, the a6400 only directly supports time-lapse through the "S&Q" menu, and that option is limited to 1 fps Full HD. To make time-lapse with any other capture or display formats requires an external...

As far as I know, the a6400 only directly supports time-lapse through the "S&Q" menu, and that option is limited to 1 fps Full HD. To make time-lapse with any other capture or display formats requires an external controller. When I bought the a6400, I thought that this "oversight" would eventually be corrected by a firmware update. But that never happened. This file is my second recent attempt ...
20240805 Samsung Galaxy Camera EK-GC100 Sample Video
Переглядів 31Місяць тому
Around 2012 there were attempts to make cameras with smartphone technology. Only a couple of companies tried their hands at this. One was Samsung and the other was Nikon. The first Samsung was its Galaxy Cam EK-GC100. A year or two later this was replaced by its Galaxy Cam 2. I believe there was also an SLR style camera, but I have never seen that one in stores. The Nikon camera ("Nikon Coolpix...
20240431 Sony HDR-AS20 Action Camera Sample Video
Переглядів 5Місяць тому
The Sony series begining with the HDR-AS10 began around 2010. I probably bought my HDR-AS20 around 2011-2012. Sony's website still lists it as a current product, but I doubt if one could buy one. The video output of this camera is limited to Full HD (1080p). There are some options (mainly interval recording and stills). This sample is the standard ~30 fps Full HD video.
20240717 modified Git2 Action Cam Humber River after Storm
Переглядів 62 місяці тому
This clip was recorded July 17, 2024, ~09-10:00 and shows the Humber River (Toronto) after a major storm. Toronto proper has two rivers. The Don is the larger and more famous, but the Humber on the west side of the city is well known to locals. This clip shows the view across the Humber river a few miles north of the lake. The camera was a Git2 action camera made by GitUp a few years ago. It wa...

The SJCam SJ5000 Plus was probably a "mid priced" action camera when it came out. I changed the lens to a rectilinear, probably with a focal length of about 4.3 mm. This is from my first set of recordings using the "vented back" case which allows a reasonable amount of stereo sound. Right now, I don't have my notes from when I did the modification, but I think I focused at about 5'. So depth of...
240625 Holmes Boscombe Valley Mystery (audio) Pt 2
2 місяці тому
This video has no images past the title screen. It is a reading of "The Boscombe Valley Mystery", a Sherlock Holmes story by Arthur Conan Doyle. It is over 45 min long, so together with the "part 1" file, I would suggest taking a few days to listen to all of it a bit at a time. The first 10 minutes or so gave me particular problems due to the poor printing of the book, but it does improve later.

I thought I would ask what people thought of my overall plan for these posts. The purpose of the posts was not to provide "great performances" of the works. It was an introduction into the actual text versions of these stories. We can find dramatizations -- including some really great versions of various Holmes stories. But the stories were written to be read, and read by people with better knowledge than me. I know bits and pieces about the culture written about, but I did not study it heavily. Sir A. Conan Doyle wrote more for his contemporary British audience than either with intention to spread around the world or hoping to leave great works for future generations. My intention has always been to encourage people to find their own copies and read the stories for oneself. Note: _A contemporary of Sir A C Doyle would have been photographer "Alfred Stieglitz", so you can get some idea of life was like around that time. [added 2023-10-30 __16:10__.]_ That brings me to this question: How do people feel about me stopping in "mid-story"? As a matter of curiosity, I think people might want to hear my read of the text to the end, but really, it was never necessary. If you start into a story reading along with me, then you can decide for yourselves if you want to continue reading a particular story, or wait for me to post something at some later date. I have found PDF's for the Holmes stories. So it is pretty much "free". Does anyone mind if I stop "here" for now and move on to start into another story?
