Hi congratulations for your excellent set up have you performed a frequency response in the room ?
Thanks, and sure do, see: m.facebook.com/groups/DIYLoudspeakerProjecPad/permalink/1364988340523666/?
@@javadshadzi4824 Thanks to you I am impressed sincerely I have never seen such SPLs Kind regards gino
@@gino3286 Yes this speaker is essentially and optimized professional PA speaker, shocking dynamics, SPL and clarity
@@javadshadzi4824 thanks again Very interesting How is the listening at lower levels ? there is someone stating that this kind of systems sound great only when pushed I need max 90dB peak at 3 meters
@@gino3286 excellent, very low distortion, clean and effortless sound, great dynamics, speakers that can play loud, clear and balanced typically do even better at lower volumes where load and stress on the drivers is even lower.
Hi Javad, hope you are well. I do not use networking platforms so here's hoping you read this after several years. How do you like Crites Speakers? I am thinking of getting his Cornwall model type A I think it is, or I may opt for Volti Razz instead of the Klipsch Forte IV. Any advice? Anyone else reading this? The same applies to you, has anyone have experience with Crites Speakers? thanks
It's a good kit if you make the modification I outline here techtalk.parts-express.com/forum/speaker-project-gallery/1334864-crites-cs-1-5-speaker-build Nice sensitivity, good dynamics and full range sound
Is the Textreme version a worthwhile upgrade over the original Helios? Thanks
It is a better speaker yes, but we are talking marginal differences. Overall the Textreme tweeter is smoother sounding and I believe I got the voicing a little better on the TX version, the HeliosTX is a fantastic and world class speaker.
Thanks
Been doing this forever. I even made a 0.88 cu.ft. schedule 80 pvc tube in my car that holds a pair of 8” subwoofers.
I am going to echo everyone here and say that this is one of the best videos that I have seen here. I had no idea that you could work dried wood glue like this!!! I mean, HOLY COW!!! This has helped me solve a veneering challenge I have had for a curved flat surface that I have just been dreading doing. I tried this the other day and it worked like a charm!!! Thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing. I have recently listned to the Totem Bison standmount at a Hifi show and i'm impressed by the punch, the speed and imaging despite the woofer is only 5,5' from Morel. Javad. Would that midrange woofer and tweeter of your freind works in a two way configuration. Two of them in serie at 2200hz? And how the tweeter performs in the upper-midrange? What would your choice be if you are to chose a tweeter to a similar project.. W.H.R Niko
Beautiful work. I'm interested in a full-range high-ish sensitivity kit/build/speaker. These Crites kits were recommended but I'm not normally a fan of Klipsch. Obviously you built these many years ago...did you have to alter the the crossover design? I'm going to check out the rest of your channel now.
Thanks, see the link in the description, you can read about the l-pad I added there: techtalk.parts-express.com/forum/speaker-project-gallery/1334864-crites-cs-1-5-speaker-build
Great tip! Thanks
Привет, отлично звучат! Можешь поделиться информацией по моделям драйверов, оформлению и кроссоверам, хочу такуюже сделать себе? Был бы очень благодарен 🙏
Thanks, see the links up in the video description, all information there
How do you like this setup all these years later? I have a pair of 745s mated to the 18sound xt1464 but I'm curious how they'd do paired with the seos 24 and 4 to 6, 8" woofers playing the mids for what would be a high powered "column point source"
Still one of the best sounding, biggest sounding and most dynamic speakers I've ever designed or heard. Keep in mind the directivity of the Seos24 will be tough to match with a 6" or 8", ideally two 12" side by side would match well, or like what you see here with the horn that had a very similar directivity match to the Seos24.
@@javadshadzi4824 awesome info, thank you for the insight!
Wetting the curved part of the veneer slightly with water on the outside part would also work? The moisturized veneer should be more flexible to adapt and stick to the mdf? Which one do you think is better for a radius of half an inch?
I've never found a need, the reason being the water in the glue is released when heated and steams the veneer as you bend and heat it, the heat also allows the veneer to bend too, since this I have done radiuses as tight as 3/4", never had to soften the veneer in any way.
I'll take your advice and won't put water. Thanks a lot!😅@@javadshadzi4824
Top sound
I appreciate it!
Top sound amazing artwork❤
Thanks!
awesome idea. Thought about to do cross diagonal strip planking to build a rowing boat shell, 4 layers to get 3 mm thickness of total hull wall strength. But I hate expoxy adhesive. This seems an interesting alternative to use paper backed veneer, preppreg it with wood glue, and then just heat it around a core form onto another veneeir layer. And repeat it 2 times to get 4 layers bonded. Interesting technic. Never seen it. Tks for your research, tests and uploading the video.
Glad to hear it was helpful!
you should demo the style B and d on videos. It would help your sales some
What's the crossover frequency? Also amazing build.

I was looking to run the amt2 in a 3 way with an RS100-8 for a mid. What do you have these AMT2's crossed at? It looks like the RS100's will reach high enough to sum them with the AMT2's okay, but I always worry about the smaller AMT's getting low enough to be used as anything other than a supertweeter
Yeah that will work, the AMT2 will want to cross like 3-3.5khz and the RS100 is good to way past that. Here I’m crossing them at like 8khz to take over from the AMTPRO4 top end
@@javadshadzi4824 Yeah the FS looked like it would work, but I'm glad someone with real world experience can confirm that they still have good response at ~3.5khz
Great great great!
You're a very interesting person, most people, and manufacturors shy away from making speaker boxes out of Real Hardwood because of swelling and contracting during cliamate and humidity changes. If there's a will, there's a way. I've heard this ipe wood and ironwood doesn't shrink or expand because of their high density.
Great tip, heat bonding dry pva is a new one to me .
What was yr impression of the amts please?

@javadshadzi4824 the specs on this driver did look impressive for bass and midrange if tuned about 45-50 Hz. It's used in the bass guitar cab the Crazy 8. I thought about some mtm designs but looked at the price for 4 of them and decided my other kit is enough.
@@TimpBizkit they don't got real low, this speaker is good to about 45hz, but they will get louder and with more impact than any other 8" woofer I've tested or used, incredibly impressive driver. You have to hear them to believe it.

Just a little sarcasm, I celebrate it too so don’t get too worked up 😆
Genial 🎉😮
They look simply stunning! Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for the kind words!
Do you recommend buying these Crites speakers?? Ive been thinking about going for the Cornwall clones from Crites
For a kit they're not bad, a nicely sensitive speaker that sounded good and dynamic, the crossover definitely needed some work, not sure about the Cornwall clones.
@@javadshadzi4824 awesome thanks for letting me know
I've had serious failure with Gorrilla Glue on a maple bow I made--total delamination. I've heard that other polyurethane glues are excellent. I can't speak for Titebond polyurethane glue. I like the other Titebond glues. I have many years of experience with WEST epoxy in boat building contexts. It is great glue, but does not glue Ipe at all.
One more question. What’s the RT60 decay in that room? Amazing builds

In metal cutting, carbide edges usually have a hone on them, which makes it not quite as sharp. The reason for that is for longer edge life holding the original dimension and minimizing chipping. So you might say the edge is pre-worn to a stabilized state of minimum wear. Possibly that’s why the new Yonico factory edge does not as sharp. When tools are re-sharpened usually the hone is lost, unless you specify it.
These are just dull, they will work out of the box but cut much cleaner and faster when sharpened properly. It would be pretty silly to make a whole video about a router bit being dull when it was perfectly sharp and cut like it was 😉

Hi Javad! Im considering this 745 driver. Did you had the opportunity to compare it with Tad 2001 for example?
Hello, I really like the 745PB, great driver, it is a 1.4" and the TAD is a 2" but they are very comparable in response, the TAD has a Be diaphragm which has better high frequency response above 15khz and a very detailed sound, for the price I'd say the 745 is a good option for a driver that can play 600hz and up. Also consider the Eminence N314X, excellent driver and I like that even better than the 745
Are those sorta narrow dispersion? They looked like it from the measurements I saw. Just curious. Thank you and really nice builds !
Thanks! They are controlled dispersion yes, thanks to the waveguide and the 8" woofer
@@javadshadzi4824 do you prefer that over a wider dispersion speaker for more pinpoint imaging? Thank you again sir
@@Nightjar726 I honestly haven't found that one is better than the other, both can sound very good and have advantages if designed properly. A waveguide and horn give more benefits than only controlled dispersion, they can also reduce tweeter distortion and greatly lower the crossover point, all which can have huge benefits in certain designs like the HeliosCM pictured above.
Once you heat the surface with the iron its very important to burnish the surface as it cools! Use the edge of a 2x4 until it cools otherwise, your bond will have air pockets.and on your video you can see the edges are NOT adhering properly.
This absolutely isn’t necessary or even needed, light pressure from the iron is all that’s needed to get a strong bond. What you describe, veneer scraping, is needed for contact cements to get a good bond, the iron on PVA glue method bonds through heat and melting alone.
Beautiful works of art.
Thanks!
Why is it then said everywhere that a ferrite core increases inductance ?
They do increase inductance
@@javadshadzi4824Then I'm getting something wrong. A permanent magnet, I understood, is made of ferrite, and when you approach the coil to it, inductance lowers. And it makes sense, as the induced field has to push the existing field from the nearby magnet. This is the part I don't understand. You show inductance coming down when it sits on top of the magnet. But then, how does it come that it's said it increases inductance ?
@@fxeconomist it is because the magnetic fields are interacting and offsetting each other.
@@javadshadzi4824Well I do understand why the lowering effect, but I don't understand why it is said it increases the inductance. Let's take a simple coil, of a few turns, around a few uH. Put a ferrite coil and inductance -> increases to several mH ? or decreases by about 10%, like in your video ?
@@javadshadzi4824I'm asking because I'm making a coil myself. I got a small ceramic ring magnet, (60 mm ID, 100 mm OD). I'm gonna wind a toroidal coil around it, just one layer. Gonna take about 7-8 m of wire (2.5 sq mm copper, insulated). This is going to be magnetically attached to a larger spinning pot magnet. I want to know what inductance I can expect from the coil. I don't know if inductance will increase by hundreds of times versus air core, or if it will decrease. I need the inductance because I wanna have a rough estimation of what I can expect from the flyback voltage.
Would you recommend this sub in a sealed enclosure, about 1.4 cubic feet? That's about the biggest I can go as the enclosure will be built for an audio application. It will have about 400 watts rms going to it. Madisound recommends vented, but I do not have the skills to put something like that together.
All details are at facebook.com/groups/DIYLoudspeakerProjecPad/permalink/909828072706364/ The design uses 3 cubic feet with two drivers, 1.4 would be very small and really limit low bass output, you could put one driver in that volume.
@@javadshadzi4824 oh yes, it’s for only one driver. F3 of about 53 I think. Some bump from car acoustics
What box did you put it in? Did you ever run a frequency response test to see how low it could go at about -3dB?
All details here: facebook.com/groups/DIYLoudspeakerProjecPad/permalink/1323343674688133/?mibextid=I6gGtw This driver can easily go below 20hz.
@@javadshadzi4824 i can vouch for that statement.

I’m am currently looking into Crites speakers for another system. Have been happy with my Cornwalls and keeping them but building another system for a home theater / Music room. How have these stood the test of time? And by that I guess did they start to bore or overwhelm?
I can't say as I built these for a friend, my impression was they sounded good, but much better can be had in other designs, but this is a nice high sensitivity full range design.
Absolutely gorgeous speakers! The fact that you matched the wood pattern in the middle of the left and right speakers where the tweeters sit is just awesome! Congratulations!
Thank you very much! Really nice you noticed. So the boards of the front baffles were made from one piece of wood, so one glue up, so the grain extends from one speaker to the next continuously 😊
