interview soon after soft cell split in 1984
This was filmed on Oxford Road in Manchester.
Horrible to see Marc suffer because of his relationship with his father. Marc did get past that - thank God. A lot of us came from a troubled home and moved on from it. Marc is a great writer/singer/performer - and most of all, a great artist. I love him.
I have got that single,my favourite singer
His face when he was asked about his father, was so full of upset. Funny how his father only wanted to know him because of money...what a turd of a father.
Ross Geller’s early synthesiser era.
God he’s so so gorgeous
Marc Almond and Howard Devoto the last great songwriting poets
Will be great if was live...
Nice little interview but to be quite frank, I don't remember much from it other than him running to police to save him.
Nice interview, indeed. You get to know a bit more about Marc as a person.
I saw Soft Cell on their farewell tour at the Hollywood Palladium---82-83 ish. Marc's voice was INCREDIBLE!!! He is one crazy dude on stage; there were so many dudes running up on stage to kiss him---my buddy got a little too over zealous and got escorted out the back door. Anyways David Ball had a lot of work to keep the tape machines rolling along with his live playing. Crazy talent!!!!
....always the star!
Freemason devil puppet
I know Marc probably wanted to be anywhere else doing anything else but this and it shows but who can blame him and he still manages to be polite and pleasant but the giggles are so endearing..you just want to be around someone like that, being silly, being naughty and just having fun taking the piss..you can see he's just full of energy and devilment 😄
Not ugly at all, really very attractive 😍
Totally gorgeous
Orange and white Manc buses and Marc Almond, retro heaven.
He's so Beautiful
Fuckin shit! Livin in London in the 80s should have been an experience.
3:18 this is sad
he’s adorable and soft cell is my life!! I’m confused as to why they were on a kids show though...
He owns who he is in a completely innocent way, love that
Why is he soo pale😕
Taylia Stewart cuz some people are, including me!
he looks the same now
Oh wow that's Manchester :) the old BBC building, can see Oxford Street outside & the old orange GM buses
aw he’s cute as hell
liar.. They split because softcells singles were no longer reaching high chart positions. He jumped that ship just before it sank. Nervous laugh or something he's on, at this point he's have been famous for 3 years and very use to interviews. Today he's a man who looks like he spends most of his time and money trying to look young. 60 years old black hair, no laughter lines, looks like a waxwork dummy, appearance more important to him than music, vanity comes first luvvie
I disagree with your 'appearance more important to him than music comment'. To me it seems that his new album shadows and reflections has been well thought out as it has been inspired by his 60's era. It doesn't seemed forced at all and is able to be performed very well live with an orchestra. For people who have been life-long listeners of Marc Almond, they have the chance to see him live at a spectacular show with live music. How he likes to look is up to him only, but he is an artist and always will be - and that's what comes first.
Shades of bitterness
Much of his "work" was reconstructive, as he was in a serious motorcycle accident, which nearly killed him... From what I've been able to fugue, the entire left side of his face/skull had to be pieced back together... As for the Soft Cell split, I've read (from multiple sources) that there were creative differences, as well as issues with their manager, and as soon as all contract obligations were fulfilled, they all parted ways. Also, their last album has a much different sound from the others, and takes a different turn lyrically, which I've heard was due to them having the freedom to do so. Again, this is all pieced together from various reports, and since none of us have first-hand knowledge, we shouldn't accuse him of lying, or being vain...
You really are a nasty little arsehole, who is ugly in a way that cosmetic surgery cannot fix. You mixed in nothing more than bitter bitchiness and made up nonsense in your rant, and made yourself look sour and hatey.
Did you not get your 15 minutes of fame? According to your math. Marc had 1,576,800 minutes of fame.
Marc is sweet heart.
Gorgeous
Morten/Mags/Pal(a-ha)
Aww so cute Marc love his nervous laugh he's veey sweet here.
High?
Do like marc, he does make me laugh.
Yes, mr. Almond is a true artist. Additionally, great actor and very very right person. I don't know him personally but I can ascertain it while watching even a interviews with him. He never had a simple life but, even then, I associate him as a nice, cute, smiling man. Well, God bless him, this kind of people is very missing in todays world
but on the other hand he could be on speed or sth simillar then :D
Could be?? Would be!! lol!!
No, I think this is actually his normal speaking voice.
It's a possibility.
wow what a blabber :) for real I must admit Marc Almond is the most likable star who I ever seen
Was this recorded at the BBC, on Oxford Road, in Manchester? They've just demolished it, such a shame.
This guy's TV and magazine cover appearances were too much to handle in the 80s, especially if you were a hormonal teenager.
he has a really nervous laugh
That reporter at the end looked like she came back from a good shagging. XD
therealsoulproduct That comment made me laugh I thought that ha ha a good shagging.
I thought she looked like she'd knocked back half a bottle of mogadon.
So pity, it isn't a live sound, but an original album recording. Anyway thanks for this nice video.
how come you didnt
Wow, those are GLASSES!
@OfficialCable What? Sorry, but in what parallel universe was Gary Numan an originator of electronic music? Major innovations can be hard to pin down by date as they often have roots in earlier styles. That said, electronic music was definitely around (see Krautrock bands like Kraftwerk, for example) several years before he released his debut. You can say you think he's the greatest musician that ever lived but you can't make up your own music history!
He`s so adorable. Somewhat like a little brother you want to shelter.
@OfficialCable Well said! I couldn't agree with you more!
What a lovely guy.....OMG I can't wait! I'm going to see him in October!!!
he looks like a guy that used to be the victim of bullies in school.
He actually was-he mentioned so in an interview.
Oh he was but it certainly didn't hold him back..he took off like a dervish in a whirlwind of craziness and creativity and never looked back while his tormenters ate dust (probably still live in their hometown, eating dirt 😅)
Marc has a pretty laugh. Oops, he's pretty all over!! LOVE YOU MARC!!
excellent man makes me proud to be british
@schweinesau The Boy Who Came Back, it was a single off his 1984 album Vermin in Ermine.
